  1. Huskys, thats the one I've definitely rehearsed there numerous times, probably circa early 00s, it was fairly clean and tidy as I remember, certainly no funny electrical noises then, and this wouldve been with loud guitarists playing Les Pauls. Good to know the pub's doing live bands now, always nice to hear.
  2. I've never heard of these before and found them by accident, they're cracking imho (nice bass sound too.. :)
  3. I kind of get the feeling this wasn't a factory standard model....
  4. When I looked at the whole thing you had to wait at least 2 or 3 months aparrently, they stopped selling them to the US at one point as they couldn't make the quantity required.
  5. I seem to recall, a fair few years ago, a band I was in at the time were looking at doing a gig at the Purple Turtle near Camden, and it subsequently transpired that they were trying it on with some kind of pay to play schtick, so we told them to shove it and it never happened. That's about the only time I've personally encountered the phenomenon, maybe it's more of a thing in the US?
  6. These are brilliant, as it happens I've just been larking about with mine doing some daft 60s echoey twangy business 😁 Having the staytrem bridge is a big plus on this one too, they're a pretty expensive upgrade about 100 quid a pop I believe, so bargain....
  7. If its at Elephant and Castle (assuming it's been running a long time) I pretty much must have rehearsed there at some point. Can't say I've ever noticed any funny electrickery interference stuff going on playing in the numerous "under the arches" type places I've been to, Backstreet at Holloway springs to mind and Allen Gordon's of course.
  8. We used MD's Blches Brew album ( plus a bit of "don't go to sleep for a few days" powder) as a backing track, over and over and over again, whilst painting a mates flat in Manchester circa 1981. Impossible to listen to without being transported right back there 😁
  9. Pretty much like this, jot the basic chords down on a bit of paper and play along until sussed..
  10. Seeing lidl e s one ^ reminds me I did have, fairly briefly, one of their Les Paul bass copies, the type with all the mad knobs a controls everywhere, it may have been titled "studio" or something? I didn't have it long as I swapped it for a Kramer ali neck thing.
  11. I had an ibanez Rickenfaker that was pretty decent, was a bolt on neck as I remember
  12. I'm rubbish at spraying and refinishing so consequently hate it, it always come out shlt unfortunately, and I've ended up scraping it all off again. I think the only usable results have been with basic Halfords car paint, even then its more the "rat look" that prevails. I assume the generally available nitro spray cans from the "guitar tech" type places are viable, with suitable drying time, possibly lack of patience is my main problem 😁
  13. So expensive "posh" guitar shop for rich people then. Hey ho....
  14. When I saw bass - lead - amp, It kind of made me think more the amp itself, as in a general purpose amp .. I used to have an Orange 120 amp that was, I guess, effectively a guitar amp, this I used thru a random elderly 4x12 which was again, presumably, a guitar cab. This combination worked fine for me at the time for loads of 'normal' size gigs etc. A mate at the time, who was a bass player in other bands, similarly used a Marshall 100w guitar amp and 4x12 in the same fashion. Neither of us used fx of any kind btw. Jumping forward a decade or few, I've generally just used a bit of reverb / chorus as a default (from one pedal) I've never gone for massive pedal boards playing live.
  15. Had a great little delay pedal from Darren, posted off very promptly and a pleasure to deal with all round. Cheers Daz πŸ‘
  16. Great bit of footageπŸ‘ The transit van looks in very good nick compared to the battered scrappers we ended up in, windows in the back and proper seats too! I remember that world of course, but the gigs I did then were punk and subsequently "post punk" so a very different type of audience. I bet with a name like Punch they had a few plssed up "hard men" taking issue with that 😁
  17. Forever & ever, Demis Roussos (the renowned prog bass player)
