  1. I've had this too, we did a pub type thing, ( it was geared up for bands so not a one off) and literally one guy turned up, he'd heard us before and came specifically to see us bless him.. We gave him a millionaire style private show, requests and all, and had a drink with him afterwards of course. We did get ( albeit grudgingly) paid by the rather surly landlord, but hey they shoulda' advertised it better...
  2. Cool, and you gots Ade Edmondson on drums too.. 😁
  3. See what he thinks when you've Sneaked a rotten fish into his kit bag... 😁
  4. More filing and stuff, marked and drilled the holes in the metal plates, they seem to sit in the slots OK-ish. I'll have to come up with some patent bull$hit like "Ferr-O-Tone solid steel Sustain Plus Blocks" A trial fit looked OK, strung it up to see what sort of action it might give, and had a nasty moment when I thought the truss rod nut had stripped it's hex socket, a search thru my tin of Allen keys was unsuccessful, however I tried the one that came with the Squier P bass and it fitted, so was able to do it up a bit ( I'd let it right off when disassembling the thing originally) will no doubt be tweaking further. I'll leave it to sit a while now with tension on the strings, I did them up in stages, they're a semitone flat from standard now, which is what I generally have basses tuned like (unless I've got to play with other people who won't tune down) I'll attempt to get it so its action is kind of playable before messing with the next bit, putting PUs in etc
  5. I can just picture the Hueys flying in, and everything bursts into flames....
  6. If its a fast type dye it should be fine, I assume you'd likely oil the f/board with something afterwards too to finish, which would also help.. Another thing I've used successfully on wood is shoe or leather dye.. As long as its the more solvent type that soaks in
  7. I can imagine.. "why man, you only got five strings on that geetar..."
  8. You can get black wood dye, I had some a few years back which worked fine on a guitar body, can't recall the make but similar must be available if you look on 'tinternet Crimson guitars do wood dyes, check them out?
  9. I'd love to hear his "Mark King" impression.. bet he'd be a very strong contender for our proposed series "When Slap Bass Goes Horribly Wrong"
  10. That's the recommended method for rickenbacker basses I believe , bend the neck by hand then do the rod/rods up to suit
  11. So I made a 1ft long mild steel lolly stick of the (approx) appropriate with for the slots. .. this was incidentally made from a piece cut off the side of an old road sign, so by sheer coincidence the bass will have some literal "Street credibility " Anyway this will be chopped into 4 pieces for the slots, 2 of which seen here, I'll have to round off the ends for the next 2 obviously. When these are done I'll mark and drill the holes, and hopefully they'll raise the bridge units by a suitable amount ( you never know your luck..) I've hacked a bit more wood out to try and level the slots, this I'll have to persevere with until I'm happy with them
  12. You've also saved someone else from buying more gear... πŸ‘
  13. Wonder if he chopped his fingers off at the same time?.. Pity
  14. Ditto, I can't even write my name left handed..
  15. Recruit yourself a "bass roadie" πŸ˜ƒ
  16. Certainly a nice do-able project, provided its a sensible price to start with
  17. Looks like a decent resto project, they've not hacked it about by the looks, mainly a refinish and some bits needed. Don't know how much they want for it tho...?
