  1. That's probably what made me think of it, pine's an unlikely candidate reallly other than perhaps for prototype work outs.
  2. We've had this one earlier in its own topic , I've used the little welding nozzle cleaner files, sets are dirt cheap 3 quid ish and are quite up to the job... well worked for me anyway, starting a nut from scratch..
  3. What about a neck from pine? I may be imagining it but didn't Fender make some early necks from pine..?
  4. It's been said before, but compared to the equivalent cheapo or "starter" instruments that were available back in the day, the stuff you can buy now at the lower end is astonishingly good, and usable at pretty much any level if needs be. I've got a lot of time for the Squiers of all types... likewise, as came up in conversation earlier today, the budget MM Sub Stingrays made in Indonesia are excellent imho.
  5. I have a lowest spec Squier PJ bass ( which I got purely as most of my other stuff is in bits and I'm running out of playable instruments ) it plays and sounds great, just as it came, strings and all. I'll be the "inverted snob" then..
  6. I confess I never thought of that... I did look at guitarchav once, just once, for a minute, nearly...
  7. Sounds like a cheeky euphemism there sport... And you're not even charging for it..
  8. Not that I know of, we'll have to start selling these
  9. I'm now just thinking.. "Chapel of Rest" for some reason...
  10. I'm still waiting for one of those to rock up going on about how "off topic" we've gone & gorn...
  11. Some are still producing it, present tense I'm afraid..
  12. Well we had an old, ornate and huge (6ft tall +) "pump up with pedals" organ that was dying/dead so I pulled out the guts and made it into a charming victorian~esque fire place surround.. It was largely a piece of furniture to begin with, it most certainly is now.
  13. Ah, I was going to suggest perhaps a double indemnity insurance policy, but she'll clearly outlive you by the sound of it...
  14. I am sorry, I do hope the dear lady will be OK 🤭
  15. Smash their instruments In time? No, regrettably they were far too late.. They made a load of records first
  16. Any money you like if you flip it over there's a chess board on the other side.. 😁
