I scored one of these off @PaulThePlug & they're excellent... I can't think of a better present for a young bass player as it gives you so much useful (and cool) stuff in one small package, perfect for whatever direction his music takes...

I'd additionally have to confess to having played the bass with an e-bow.... One "thing" we did, I hesitate to call it a song, involved me self making "interesting" low noises on the bass (rickenbacker of course) with the above little gizmo, whilst the singer recited a load of Aliester Crowley malarkey, from an olde leather covered book naturally...

For full disclosure.. Quite some while ago myself and a guitarist / singer decided to look for a drummer, we hired a rehearsal room and a drummer we'd arranged to try out arrived, set up etc.. Anyway we play him some of the stuff we'd devised, with the view to just having a bit of a jam with him and see how it went.. .. as soon as we introduced our material his eyes lit up.. "Ah.. Prog Rock!" he exclaimed... 😁 Anyway, I feel better having got that out in the open...

With a straight multi fx pedal tho, he can still use it for silent practice by plugging h/phones in, but he can also use it "out loud" with his amp

Thanks for the Intel 👍 I was only concerned that a downward force behind the nut might, on the thicker strings, create a somewhat vague bend in the string affecting how it seats in the slot. That said there's a fair old pull on them once tensioned so they'd likely seat as intended. I'll try "as is" then, and can always file and fettle later if there's an issue.

A Squier PJ bass is the only one at the mo that's not completely disassembled and lying about in bits..

The old Eko acoustic gits had a 4 screw bolt on neck, and quite a large body as I recall... sticking a bass neck on an acoustic body was one of the notions I toyed with at one point.

I was worrying about all that before I tried it loosely together, but having had a good look it will work I think, it's the string holes in the block that need to be just below the slots in the nut, or where the strings break over I should say, I'll prob have to do a bit of filing to the nut slots to get it to be happy. I've tried poking the strings thru just loose to ensure that there is sufficient "path way" and it looks like a goer.. As mentioned I've got a zero fret thing stashed in my junk which I could call into play if the regular nut doesn't want to co-operate, I can bully that in place if I need to 😁
