  1. Sounds like a bloody good idea to me, and the best of luck 👍 Whenever I've sent stuff to family in Eire I've been shocked at the crazy comparative postage cost, whereas if you sent it just over the border to NI it'd be the same cost as posting it from London to, er London. This isn't an "oh it's brexit" thing either, been that way for many years...
  2. I had a DHL delivery today, arrived fine.. But.. the snag being I had very particularly specified delivery for tomorrow (Thurs) and paid extra for the 'privilege' as I was out all day today.. . Luckily by sheer chance someone was in at home to take delivery, otherwise it'd be "in the wind" & gawd knows what would've befallen it..
  3. Swerving slightly.. Why on earth did they call the extra strap button on the back of the headstock a "Hootenanny strap button"?
  4. The Hondo logo was covered with a blue "Ford" car sticker, this was spotted by the producer or whoever and they insisted on sticking a bit of black tape over it.. Presumably in case Ford got arsey and sued 'em.. Funny old world eh
  5. Nah, I played a 50 quid Hondo P bass on the telly once...
  6. A reanimated Zombie Andy Stewart?...cool, I'll have some of that
  7. Probably to even practice at all would be a start.. I've always managed to just "wing it" tbh 😉
  8. I'm another who just lowers them til they rattle like old windows, but I leave 'em there and play the b'stard like that....
  9. Nah he needs a Les Paul, the only choice is... white=Steve Jones... black=Mick Jones
  10. I had a Hondo II Precision copy bass, baseball bat maple neck, black hefty plywood body, Fender shape headstock, I liked it, and gigged it, it did the job. Wish I still had it tbh Amazed how much people want on ebay for this kind of stuff though..
  11. That's kind of what I suspected, I'm meaning the squier pj bass in 'orrible geen. The only diff I could deduce being the MIC rather than MII that the standard ones are (not that I'm disparaging the Indonesian built stuff I've had MII instruments that were excellent ! )
  12. Wondering about the FSR "Fender special run" so called, are these just batches of non standard colour combinations or do they have some kind of extra level of quality control too? I'm talking about the cheaper Squier p bass type things rather than Fender badged stuff. The FSR from what I can see seem to be China made as opposed to the Indonesian manufacture of the regular cheapo types...
  13. The Guyker bits arrived today, so not bad timescale from China considering strikes and Xmas... certainly look to be decent enough quality and as observed by @Bassassin the nut end block seems pretty substantial! I may in fact be able to snug it right up against the nut and access the truss rod underneath, maybe filing a small groove in the blocks underside for the Allen key, be able to do a pretty much totally cut down headstock then, we'll see! I'll start a thread of my own for the "build" in the new year I guess, with of course many thanks to all on here for the encouragement, advice and input 👍
  14. Different story if you can go in person and have a try of a few, the potential problem arises with ordering online, it's always going to be a bit of a lottery..
  15. I was vaguely toying with the idea of ordering something from Andertons.. Don't think i will now !!
  16. I'd keep it simple. When I've done this, admittedly many years ago, I just treated the two instruments as a completely separate entity, bear in mind you've got a volume knob on the synth /keyboard to keep a bit in hand in case the pa bloke turns you down! ^nice moggy BTW.. 👍
  17. Take the neck off and post it bubble wrapped in a cardboard box and I'll have it!.. Pm sent
  18. Dead but most certainly not forgotten...
  19. A valid thesis, scope for an "interesting" series of experiments...
  20. Well short version I attempted this well known "hack" many years ago when a couple of pooches were having at it fairly enthusiastically, absolutely zero result... (and of course you get 5hit on your finger) I've subsequently found the way ahead is to robustly squeeze the throat / wind pipe of the aggressor, that does work..
  21. Sticking your finger/thumb up a dog's @rse doesn't work... Don't ask...
  22. As Mr Bowie observes... "the bitter comes out better on a stolen guitar.." just sayin'
  23. I had a Hartke amp I think it was called 3500 or something, absolutely hated it, just thought it sounded rubbish, I prob used it on a dozen or so gigs (and a whole bunch of rehearsals) I promptly got rid of it and then used an ancient Peavy thing, can't remember the model, which was great and infinitely better. I used both amps thru the same aluminium speakered cab BTW...
