If I didn't already have one, I'd be in there myself.. don't be fooled by the label, as these are seriously undersung heroes of the guitar world. That's a seriously bargainful price - folks pay that for a used Chinese Squier.

I fiddled with the pickups on mine, to go from bar magnets to pole; here's a demo of before and after:

Ah, I wondered, as the TE 3 pin XLR was yet another of those potentials for error, including forcing 500W down a mic cable!

The number of times I've 'gracefully' refused requests to use my 1/4" instrument cables for speakers.. 😬

Speakons were and although not perfect, they will do very well until something better comes along. A well known amplifier manufacturer once told me that jack plugs caused most of their amplifier failures on Solid State amps. With two exposed and very close contacts short circuits are not only likely but also inevitable. 

Wasn't it Trace Elliot (quite probably others, too?) that used XLR as an alternative to 1/4"? This was before Speakons really made an entry(!) to the mainstream, so 80s-ish.

Was there a technical reason for this practice stopping, or is it just that Speakon were better/trendier?

Hehe, I have 33, 34 and 35 inch.. fretlesses! Also other things from double bass down to mandolin.

It's just a case of relaxing into each of the instruments you have, and after a while your muscle memory switches with instrument.

The brain is an amazing piece of kit!

Something you can do very inexpensively as a temporary measure, so she can keep going for now.. put a guitar capo on the 1st or 2nd fret of the Squier then return down to normal. Gives her easier stretch but still the same notes.

If she has a definite preference for one of the capo positions,  aim for a short scale as close as possible to that length.

If MAP is removed, I reckon you'll see fewer and fewer Fender dealers, all racing to the bottom.

Actually this reminds me of seeing a couple of eBay bargains crop up, but always fretted when I was wanting a fretless.. I spoke to Chris about the whys, wherefores and costs of getting a fretted bass converted to unlined fretless, the upshot being my purchase of a  custom fretless Progress III ..

Good stuff to read and reminisce upon.. I suppose I was lucky to grow musically with folkies,  mostly older or more experienced than me.. loads of Eddies!

Thinking about it,  when I started playing in ceilidh bands there was a commonly played 'honour your partners' chord, always by feel. Nobody counted it out loud, just everybody did it. Nowadays no bands in get to play with seem to have it any more, even after attempts to rehearse it.

If you find a dealer for Stentor, they should be able to get some bows in on sale or return for you to try, subject to Stentor's Bowline list availability.

Worth asking.

Now an even madder bargain by the looks of it.. the kind of bass that makes me wish I was in the market for a 4 string fretless!

Also they make their bass cases to order in the (yet) heavier duty models.. I got the larger one in Pro11 grade for only a few quid more than the Std .. twice the strength and with D rings already fitted.

Serious question to the OP why did you bid if you thought your bid was under the reserve and you didn't want at that price anyway

I've occasionally won auctions in this way.. I don't desperately want it, but if I can get it for only that much I'll have one!

Some years ago I ended up with actually too many nice electric guitars by this method,  even for me, so sold most of them! 😃

Looking at the bass model, the bridge looks pretty normal format, so I'd look at a replacement bridge with piezo saddles.

Hipshot do them, as do Schaller, probably others too, depending on suitable dimensions. Don't forget string spacing!

By 'ecky thump, that's a mad bargain. If you know Overwater basses you already know this! If not, think USA Deluxe then some.

I was using my 5er fretless from that very stable in a Leeds studio this week, much to the approval of both the client and the ex-UB40 soundman studio owner.

Do the Omega have adjustable spacing, and indeed do you use that on the 2000 or is it just set at 19mm?

I have a few 2000, both 4 and 5 string, and the flexibility of spacing is the whole point to me. Even on the 4 string I can get 17 or 16.5mm easily.

Possibly distrust of the 'I'll pay and my mate will collect' scam potential? Not suggesting that you are pulling such a thing, but could be that.

Only way for it to work is for the mate to turn up with cash.

No probs with adverts on Samsung Android, but even after accepting cookies I can't get rid of the Cookie Policy box.

Watch.. yes, very light strap and not at all restrictive. Worn on left (fretting) wrist.

Wedding ring.. no probs on electric, but tends to clatter occasionally on double so move it onto right hand.
