They all balance just fine though which I would find more of an issue than the weight.
Nail>>head. :-)
I've used The Chord Company Cream cables for the past 7 years. Highly recommended for sound and build quality without the crazy boutique prices. http://www.chord.co....-and-bass-cable
These ^^ , and Neil at The Den in Keighley is yer man for them! Hifi cables for gigging players. I have a couple..

I took the East pre out of my Overwater J5 - bought used - and frankly don't think about the impact on value. I already knew that bass is a very long term keeper! If you're likely to shift the bass on in a while, but don't enjoy the pre, take it out but keep it on one side for selling day. If the bass is a keeper, sell the pre and buy a few sets of strings! ;-)
I think I said 'bloody' once in a thread - I got a formal warning from a moderator.
I'm a member of Archers Appreciation FB group re the radio series. Swearing is quite tolerable to most of the group. I think even our illustrious leader has been known to lapse into the vernacular occasionally!
Last year Mrs ET and myself had a 25 years silver Not-Married party. My band played, our son's band played, and the bar bill cost me a small fortune. It was nothing like Talkbass.
That sounds like a good do! I didn't use those scenarios quite literally, more just to go with the vibe of the present company.
I've been given warnings there for things that I wouldn't do here, but their house, their rules etc.
That, really.

'Sfunny, I quite like Talkbass for what it is, rather than bemoaning what it isn't. Admittedly I spend waaay more time here on Basschat, and the two vibes are different, but it's just like going to your parents' silver wedding do rather than out for several pints with your mates. . I bet everyone here would act slightly differently at the two events! :-)

Grand.. sounds like you'll do that again? Welcome to the fold!
Be prepared to only ever want to use a fretless live from now on.
This. Way to go! :-)

Wow, some beauties and some horrors on here! This is mine, as it appears nowadays, and the back story: http://basschat.co.u..._hl__megacustom

Where in Yorkshire are you, Malcspring1?
I had a GK500 Fusion for 2 hours before k sent it back. I now have a Puma 300 and a One10 cab. I play in a local educational trust orchestra. I've never been happier with the sound.
I got a GK Fusion 550, the one with multi-valve pretty, and within a couple of hours I knew I loved it! I feel the same on the halfrounds.. excellent strings, and suitable for 35" scale. I wait with bated breath to see what happens in future. Hopefully the quality control will mean just as good strings! Edit: I know some were made with silks, and the folks at Treorchy said they did both but were leaning towards silks. We have 2 sets left in the shop, which I might get myself to stock up(!), which have silks and definitely came from Treorchy.

I'm still waiting for the advert to flash up..

Just got a Zoom multiFX from Gerry, all gone through smoothly. Easy, swift and pleasant transaction and comms. :-)

There are plenty of books (we sell alot of this stuff where I work) and websites with tunes and chords, trouble is everyone plays the tunes slightly differently and with their own chord sequences! If your teacher has recommended you to a gig, either ask for a run-through or two with the band, or arrange to go and see them play, and if they don't already have any recordings make your own so you get to know the shape of the tunes and sets. Above all, you are the driving bit so keep it simple initially. . you can actually do alot more than most people think but you have to keep the groove! Ceilidh bands are a heck of a lot of fun, and you'll really get your chops together playing for dancing. Have fun, and avoid dungarees! :-D

Do you mean the extra long ones, full-on 5 stringers? I just happen to have a pair in the Projects Box which came out of my Overwater J5 fretless. Beautiful things, not overly dark at all, but I decided I wanted a load of extra attack and graunch so swapped out to EMG j5s. If you fancy them, let's talk!

Agreed on the resale value. Also agreed on the fun, and you can get something fine-tuned to your taste! :-) Here's one for you. . http://basschat.co.uk/topic/44673-ibanez-roadster-megacustom/page__hl__ibanez%20megacustom
You would not. Half the voltage would be dropped in each, therefore half the power would be dropped in each. Yes, because half the current would be dropped in each.
Grand, thanks.. at least I was told it on the safe side!
You're confusing what happens with power versus what happens with voltage. On that matter with parallel connections each driver sees the same voltage, with series the voltage is split amongst each driver.
Hehe, quite probably; that was the simplistic 'everyman' description of what goes on that I was given decades ago. It was much later that the idea of the 'rating' being quite inaccurate came up. Still, with say 2 x 250W speakers in series, you'd not hit the front one with 500W, would you? And with the same in parallel they'd get an equal share of the power? (again, simplistic approach..)
when it arrives you might find this useful, a lot more info than in the booklet you get with the unit https://www.zoom-na....FX-list_100.pdf
Cheers, Paul!
If the 15" has been replaced, check the polarity matches with the polarity on the 4x8". Stick a 9V battery on the end of the speaker lead and all the cones should leap in the same direction. Those cabs shouldn't be too dissimilar in bass output to your previous ones. However, if your bass has quite a hot output and you pluck hard and your gain is up fairly high then I wouldn't be surprised by an amp distorting at 4/10, or you pushing so much power you overload the cabs.
This is, to me, the most likely thing. If you just play through one cab and it sounds great, then adding in the 2nd cab messes up your sound, phase is yer man! If this is the case, you just need to reverse the wires going to one cab - either do it in the cable, or better still go in and resolder the input socket the other way round. Edit: Alex knows a bit about speakers! ;-)
