Sadly, as it says on the tin. Not mine, but Chris Kelly in Otley. From his Facebook post: A plea to everyone. I have had my bass guitar and Amp head stolen from my car. It was parked outside my home in Otley at the time. These items are very valuable both to me on a personal level but also in terms of their resale value. The guitar is an American 1997 Fender Jazz bass. The amp head is an Ashdown Mag 300. The thief may well have looked to local music traders in order to get money for these items. The amp head has a cracked/broken dial on the front. The bass guitar has some small dents on the headstock as you can see from the pictures. It also has a distinctive red marbled scratch plate which was fitted after purchase. If you come across these items please contact me on 07837985126 or West Yorkshire Police using the crime number 142379. Thank you. Pics also in the post: https://www.facebook.com/chris.kelly.338658

Most of our amps only actually use a couple of amps (a glance at the back of your combo will tell you the power consumption, then divide by 240), but I mostly carry the full 13A cable ones so they can be used on pretty much anything. If buying new, the price difference is minimal, so you might as well go for 13A unless only the light ones are available. Yer actual kettle lead is for hot use, and has a notch so you can't put an amp lead into a kettle and melt the thing.

Excellent post! Is a punk band allowed to tell the bass player he/she's too loud?

I've got both 4s and 5s.. generally I'll go for the 5s, but as I think of them as different, not just a larger and smaller version of the same thing, I can justify owning TWICE AS MANY BASSES! Win-win!

Prob just need another turn or two round the post. That or less vaseline on the strings..
I've done this with my Fender JB. It works just fine, but changing the battery is a real pain.
I have one bass with a pair of EMG-35s and the active blend circuit.. I usually end up changing the batteries (I run them on 18V) when I really can't remember the last time I did it, so probably 18 months or more! :-) To OP.. you could try and drop one or two PP3 batteries in the control cavity, and if that goes easily you'll have no problem doing the pickup swap. They even have a single stacked pot 2-band EQ if you really want to push the boat out.

If it's a 5-string, also check the width.. I have an Overwater J series with Bartolinis which are a 5-string model hence noticeably wider than normal 4s. As J pickups have side lugs, you can't put a 4 in a 5 slot even if the pickup aperture would permit. Having said that, I love those Barts! Originally teamed up with a John East preamp, that had sooo many possibilities that I swapped it to a 2 band EMG pre and made it active/passive switchable. Still a great range of tones.. I LOVE that bass! In a 4 string slot, EMG are great, as zero9 said.. p'raps more modern sounding, inasmuchas they're clean, noiseless, and the frequency range is that bit broader without losing the character of what they're based on. With something like a J or P bass, there have been so many incarnations that one major step is to decide on what kind of J you're after. Once you get to the decent ranges, they're ALL good!

I've only had 4-stringers, but the BTBs I've played just got better and better as I went up the range. Currently have a Japanese made 600 with bolt on neck and ash body, brilliant. I did have some EMG jazz pups thrown in there for a while, which made it yet better. I'd imagine a 1600 with Nordstrand pups to be a thing of great splendour!

I saw a link to this http://blog.sonicbids.com/5-good-reasons-to-kick-out-that-band-member?_hsenc=p2ANqtz-9nKP1c_4eBikPKQxFmDu5-F1T8quSY_lrbiAWr8sS_fv0QLG2taFovBc83cNn8hV9jjT1Fci0-54Ih51_zeb7rn1qydQ&_hsmi=16183611 in the last day or two. Being in a band is a multi-way relationship, and if we're all honest with ourselves (idealistic, I know!) this article can also be taken the other way around, i.e. When It's Time To Move On. I play with a few different setups, generally on a happy and open ad-hoc basis. At least one band, I sort of ought to leave as they could do with someone more committed; only thing there is that I love playing with them and the feeling seems to be mutual. We're now looking at the possibility of some solution involving more than one bassist.. Happy days! :-D OP, sounds like you're headed in the right direction.

Funny things that people say to you at gigs
hubrad replied to Tom Brookes Music's topic in General Discussion
I've had a couple of blokes now, who I vaguely knew for years but hadn't seen in ages, claiming to have taught me either a specific song or in one case all I know! What's that about? Total delusion, or a craving for reflected glory? -
Sounds like a dry joint somewhere. I'd look for large components like caps and power transistors, big resistors etc. and reflow the joints.
I had a similar thing happen on a Fender guitar amp a few years back.. an amp repairer I knew at the time said it was a pain of a job and he was really busy, so I should get to the circuit board and re-solder every single joint as it would be pretty much impossible to identify just which one was causing the problem. I did what he said, and the amp was still working fine when I sold it a couple of years later. Time-consuming but not actually hard.

If that track is the kind of musical style you're after, I'd go and get a ton of folk-rock stuff, especially the more current stuff like Mumford. Listen to nothing but a load of these tracks until the music really gets inside you. It doesn't matter so much whether you get into the song content, just soak up the vibe and check out what's going on with the bass. You will either get it or decide you really don't want to play like that. 😃 +1 to finding a good teacher. . this can save you an age of struggling to work out whatyou're struggling with! Good luck!
