1. All PMs replied to. Lots of interest in this. Currently on hold for the first PM I received...
2. A slice of serious Aria Pro II goodness bought from fellow BC'er in 2006. Through-neck, Paduak Red. It's VGC but not perfect. The pots are a bit scratchy, and it could definitely do with a new jack plug. Finish wise, the only problem is that someone has put a screw in the top horn strap button that's very slightly too long and has pushed through the other side of the horn by about 1mm or so - although this is not visible. They don't look it, but these basses are passive, with probably the most versatile passive set up I've ever player. Two volumes, coil tap for each P/U and a tone control that seems to have far more range than any I've ever used. It's more like a kind of Q-control. The 24 fret through-neck is a joy. The whole thing is a kind of poor man's Alembic, and I'm very sad to see it go. Buyer collects please - I'm in Kingston, Surrey. Very welcome to have a try and a cuppa. Could meet in central London. Price is firm at £300. No trades please. Pics here: http://s1069.photobu...284271784967375 EDIT: This was previously listed as an SB Elite II. I have relisted this as an SB-ELT and repriced, based on observations from a connoiseur... Thanks
3. Near mint. Bought new by me four years ago. I was thinking of buying an original 72 US P-Bass, but tried this for comparison in the shop and it was just the better bass. Never gigged, dropped, or any other nasties. Solely used by me to figure out Watt-Roy and Stevie Wonder lines. Excellent working order. Two piece alder body (so pretty light for a P), lovely neck, set up for 45-105s and a low action (though it could do with a new set of strings). No case, but I do have the Fender gigbag it came in. Buyer will need to collect please. Very welcome to have a noodle and a cuppa, and see what you think.I'm in Kingston, Surrey (though can meet in central London if that helps). Price is very firm at £325 - no trades please. Pics here (hope this works...): http://s1069.photobucket.com/user/TimJones1970/library/#/user/TimJones1970/library/Jap%20Precision?sort=3&page=1&_suid=137260123829506905387970395267 Thanks.
4. That's definitely an SB Elite II. I have an identical one, and they're fantastic things. The controls are just about the most versatile passive set up I've ever used - coil taps for each pup and a tone control that's definitely out of the ordinary - more like a Q-control.
5. Chris - I can't remember if you ever met my '62 Jap reissue P, but I bought it from Chas Chandler's after it stomped all over the 66 shoreline gold I was thinking about. Plus I'm only up the road
6. Sold subject to the usual.
7. To answer some of the questions I've been getting via PMs, the weight is exactly 4.0kg. There is little or no fret wear. The dint on the back of the neck is about 3mm long and is almost impossible to photograph. Thanks.
8. Yes it is Fatguy. I've seriously underpriced it, haven't I. Oh well...
9. Bought new by me from the Bass Gallery in 2007. Has a small dint in the back of the neck. Otherwise flawless - with a beautiful grain to the swamp ash body. Includes original Sadowsky case (and unopened registration documents...). No VTC on this, but I never found that a problem and you could always get one retrofitted. The build quality is incredible with a perfect neck pocket fit and spot-on string through polepiece action. It currently has DR 45 105s on it. It has a very, very low action and is probably the best four string I've ever played. I really hate to see it go, but I'm selling it because I hardly ever play anymore, and this bass needs to be used. Photos here: http://s1069.photobucket.com/albums/u478/TimJones1970/ I paid £1600. Yours for £900 OVNO for a quick sale. No trades please. Potential buyers are welcome to give it a play. I would prefer collection if possible (I'm in Kingston, Surrey), but could meet in central London. Thanks.
10. I have a four string Sadowsky Metro UV70 (ash body, maple board, block markers, probably the best 4 strong Jazz I've ever played) that I've been thinking of selling because of fretless GAS. Couple of dinks but otherwise vgc, Sadowsky case, etc. Interested?
11. I would like to seriously apologise to James, as I've decided to go after a Wal fretless that's come up this evening, which renders this a bit...academic. Nonetheless I think this bass will probably go very fast. Sorry again, but this is probably the only chance I will get to own a Wal fretless.
12. I haven't seen the Cardiacs since the Riverside Club in Fetcham in 1986. Have a bump.
13. Chris are you sure you're doing the right thing here? It's not three or four years ago when you were a massive Sado fan. I really don't want to be rude, but a different bass won't make you a better player, and a good Metro is about as good as it gets....
14. Hello? HELLO?
15. What kind of trade downs are you interested in? Thanks
16. My UV70 is probably the best four string bass I've ever played. Just sayin'.
17. Any particular trades you had in mind?
18. Thanks for that video Michael. The Tanglewaters just look better and better. I suspect they will have a lot of trouble accommodating demand. I hate to mention this, but has the word 'fretless' been used in any connection with any of them?
19.
Seriously, does no-one else think Brother Jones' post was a joke? I certainly read it as a very tongue in cheek comment..
Oh dear, what the hell's happened here? Yes it was a joke, but one that I clearly cocked up badly in the telling. Apologies to the OP for any offence - that was not my intention. (I'm amazed that this bass is still here btw...)
20. God the playing in that video is abysmal - reminds me of me aged 17.... Lovely bass though.
21.
I bought it from a chap in London called Henry.
In that case it is my old one. One of the best 5s I've played. The spacing is spot-on.
22. I have to ask: is this my old one? I can't remember who bought it from me... If so, lovely bass. If not, er, lovely bass.
23. A bit of provenance on this. I bought it about two years ago from Chaz Chandler in Kingston. It had been owned by a guitarist and was pretty filthy as a result. Cleaned it up, new strings, etc. Fabulous bass, and the piezos work perfectly. There's not much between this and a lot of Overwaters I've played tbh, and the craftsmanship on the through neck is a joy to behold. I traded it with Ady for a US Jazz 5, but still miss this bass a bit... The pickups are lovely - classic P tones from the front, and the jazz pickup is sweet as a nut. The B is firm and punchy. Someone buy this before nostalgia takes over.
