I was all in black, and the Mrs had a blue scarf in her hair
Ah, I remember. I think she was just sitting down with a Zon as I was leaving. We should have had a Basschat shout-out.
 2.
An amazing evening, even the Mrs enjoyed it very much
Whereabouts were you sitting?
 3.
Went to see the Manring last night in harrogate. He was jaw droppingly good An amazing player, very, very musical stuff on the whole. He did two sets, little bit of chatting about the basses, but mainly just some amazing playing. Without doubt the best £10 I have spent.......stunning, just a stunning player... Joe Zon was also there with a number of Zon Basses, he gave a short talk over how he started up and what got him into making the Zon Basses, really relaxed and informal.... Had real good laugh with Owain (bottomendian) top bloke - always good to meet real people...... And finished off the night with a healthy kebab..... Big thanks to Phil for organising the event (and thanks for getting the lights off disco mode )
A big +1 to all of this. Especially me being a top bloke. No, it was an utterly inspiring evening. Phenomenal playing, some beautiful Zons on display (the satin finish on some of them is simply stunning), and a good laugh with good people. There were some moments in MM's sets where there was an audible gasp/snort from the audience at the sheer audacity of some of the things he was capable of pulling off... and all of it sounding musical and fluid. When he tore through "Teen Town", playing both the bassline and accompanying chords simultaneously (without looper), I think my jaw actually fell off. And MM's a lovely fella. He let me play his main Hyperbass in the interval. Chipped to hell and with a very low action.
Ha ha, I saw you 2 going into the kebab shop just before I caught my bus home, thanks for letting me share a table with you guys (forgot to introduce myself!).
Ah, face to (user)name! I was the little bespectacled fella sitting between you and the man-mountain that is Perry.
Ooooh did he do Adhan then?
He did. To put it politely, it was f***ing amazing. Right, I'm going to stop gushing now.
 4. Bloody hell! What an incredible evening! Totally blown away by Michael Manring, and I drove all the way back with a huge grin on my face. (And it was a real pleasure to finally meet Mr Perry in the flesh too.) Need my bed now though.
 5.
200ft? That's only about a car length anyway.
6.
I think that most of us would be able to estimate that 200ft was rather too far to jump - alligators or not!
The 200ft to which I referred was the depth of my gorge. Yes, I'm still missing the :brow: smiley.
 7.
Looking forward to this tonight....!!
+1!
 8. Don't think I've ever contributed to this thread! I've bought and sold a few bits and bobs from and to Mike over the last year or so, and he's a diamond gent. Smooth and easy every time.
 9. I'd be surprised if cd_david doesn't have one, or he may have had one in the past and sold it. He's local too! FWIW, I reckon piezo's the way forward.
 10.
Ok, turns out I'm awful at estimating distance.
Still, better to find out now than when you're trying to judge whether you can make the leap over a 200ft gorge filled with ravenous alligators. With lasers on their heads.
 11.
Visually, rather than measuring, not a great deal. I think the slightly raised zero fret helps. Never had any issues, and I can play quite hard sometimes.
Intriguing. I have to try out one of those Vigiers some day.
 12.
My Vigier's better- no truss rod at all!!
As long as it's been built with an amount of neck relief that suits the way you play. Just out of interest... how much relief do they build into it?
 13. If I'm loosening the rod, I often don't bother slackening the strings; the tension of the strings will pull the neck forward as I desire. But if I'm tightening the rod, I always loosen them off before I turn it. Seems no point in fighting the string tension as I'm tightening the rod. It's a hell of a lot easier with the strings slackened off. And yes, the wheel thing is genius (although it has killed one of my cheap -- i.e. weak -- screwdrivers). I don't know why there are manufacturers who aren't using it.
 14.
Sounds immense though!
I'll bet! No danger of fret buzz.
 15.
I probably have about 10-15mm on the B at the 12th fret
Sweet holy mother! That's quite something... or have I stumbled into the DB/EUB forum? Can you get the saddle back far enough so it intonates properly all the way up the neck? We did this a while back. Quite an eye-opener.
 16.

1994?! Generations was that long ago? Wow. Starting to feel the passage of time now. Could just be last night's curry though.
 17.
Best of luck selling this beauty!! I'm also selling a fretless stingray 5... and its on eBay too
Thanks! Yours looks awesome with the pearloid plate and LEDs. Proper bling.
 18. Price drop to £800! And that's as low as it'll go on here. Next stop... eBay.
 19. Can someone set something up to send out a tweet every time Wayne posts "IBTL"? I need my quick fix of controversial threads.
 20.
Yet it's back up for £450...
Let me guess... you've got a saved search for local basses on eBay? I also noticed this one coming up again in my daily swathe of eBay search notifications.
 21. That central piece of maple is turning out just lovely under that tint. And I frigging love wenge. Very nice neck.
 22. Ye gods, Stu... that holly looks incredible! A monster of a bass there. In a good way, of course!
