If the price stays low, I might have a punt on this one (unless SS or BE have first dibs, that is).
Far too poor at the moment, especially with the Barefaced Vintage looming over the horizon...
I agree the crazing is fabulous but I'm not so sure that the price is all that low Jack - have a gander here The neck plate pic has me a wee bit scared too.
Dunno about the price. I'm by no means an expert, but wouldn't the Hayman be a bit more desirable than the Shergolds in that list (older, rarer, all that stuff)? I know what you mean about the neck plate. I'd like to see underneath. It looks like a small mammal might have burrowed in and used it as a bed, and then as a latrine.
They're quite sought after, grygrx of bassfuzz.com seems to be loving d*a*m gear at the moment, and they seem to be the flavour of the month on talkbass, so you could probably get quite a bit for it
Absolutely. Make sure it's available to US bidders, and you'll probably rake it in on eBay.
That is a joke right, who in their right mind would pay that for a pedal!
Indeed. Starting price of £66.66, and was up to £301 within half an hour. Absolutely bonkers.

Anyone know what the controls are? I'm guessing the knobs are vol and tone, with the slider thingy for blend?
I bought some studio spares NS-10s and they're a bit sh*t IMHO. Anyone else used these? Am I doing something wrong?
NS-10s are difficult to love, but they have one good thing going for them, and I quote Bob Speer: "if it sounds good on the NS-10s, it will sound good on anything".
How utterly cool is this? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RARE-VINTAGE-HAYMAN-...QcmdZViewItemQQ
I have to go against popular opinion and agree with you here -- it's gorgeous. The slab body kind of reminds me of my beloved SUB, and that perspex bridge is quite something. Mmmmmmm.
Give the TIs a few weeks and several hours of playing and they will sound even better. Then they carry on getting even better.
So I'm going to move beyond flats heaven? I'm quite excited. This I have to see...

As an update on my earlier post... Got my TIs from Stringbusters, so it looks like the "dead D" batch has been replaced. Strung up the VMJ fretless this evening. Wow. What a difference. It had D'Addario Chromes on it before (which replaced the horrible, horrible Fender rounds it shipped with), and I liked the Chromes a lot, but the TIs take it to another level. A lot more flexible than the Chromes, and I feel like I can play everything a touch more easily. Really sweet, thunky sound, without that zing of the Chromes. The only downside of the TIs compared to the Chromes is that I'd say the Chromes are even smoother to the touch, so the fretting hand can slip around even more easily than on the TIs. On the other hand... literally... plucking the TIs is easier, so it's swings and roundabouts there. I'm in flats heaven. Now I just need to try some La Bellas...
However, the button on THIS bass was a mod... That's Freddie Tavares, and no SCPB ever had a HS strap button fitted...
Forgive my ignorance... SCPB? Silver-coloured Precision Bass? Sexy c**t's Precision Bass? I'm lost...
A spouse is entitle to a share in your estate, but is not the only person legally entitled to make a claim - the degrees of entitlement depend on relationships of consanguinity and affinity. The main point to note is, that without specific designations your estate could be liquidated and the proceeds divided - so specific items would be lost to your relations in that eventuality. It's simple and inexpensive to make a will, and anyone of majority - over 18 - should really do so.
Interesting! Thanks. Also, thanks for a new addition to my vocabulary: consanguinity. Quite a complex concept in a single word. Awesome!
I don't know how the bass would sit strapped at the headstock but that was the intent. In the 1950s many guitarists used a strap tied behind the strings at the headstock. Leo Fender thought the new electric bassists would do the same.
So would these basses have shipped without a button on the top horn? Can't tell from the pic...

I've noticed that some Fender Jazzes (seems to be early 60s and before, and also reissues) have a strap button on the back of the headstock. What's that all about? How would the bass sit if you connected your strap there? Any pics/vids of people playing like that? Seems to me that you'd end up with the 12th fret round your navel...
Is anyone into Can,i have really got into there stuff at the moment its very original and seems to be a big influence on a lot of bands who have been very good,i never realised the mondays covered hallaluwah as hallalujah. There is some pretty cool and funky bass playing on the documentary im watching about them.
I've only got Tago Mago, but by 'eck it kicks serious arse. I've always meant to get hold of more Can. I thought the Mondays song was not quite a cover... more a 'reimagining', to use the parlance so beloved of film-makers these days. A blatant rip-off.
Well, if I ever got to that stage in my life where I needed to write a will...
It creeps up on you surprisingly quickly. I've just sat down and taken stock of my situation, realising I've got a wife, 1.7 children, two cars, a house, a retail business, 600+ CDs, 5 basses, 2 guitars, more pedals than you can shake a stick at, amps coming out of all orifices... I like the idea of donating them to my school. Or I might like to donate them to my kids' school, when they get old enough to have a school.
Which flats did you try? Give D'Addario Chrones a go if you want bright flats.
+1 on Chromes for a bit of zing on flats.
-
Morbid topic alert... I'm just about to sort out a will (about time, too) and I'm wondering about what would become of all my basses, amps, pedals and all that stuff. It seems a shame to just lump them in with all the other gubbins of my possessions. It's not like I've got loads of basses, or even particularly high-quality ones, but it'd be nice for them to go to someone who might appreciate them or at least use them. So... who's made special arrangements for their basses and gear? Or is everyone's bass collection destined for next of kin?
