  1. Nah, he wasn't travelling in a Del Boy motah! He just suffered too many traffic pile-ups, road closures and delays crossing the QE2 bridge, so he told us anyway.......!
  2. Hi Chris. We rehearse in CM1 3PJ; just off the A12 (J14) before Chelmsford. The previous bassist was travelling from south-east of Maidstone...... Please feel free to give me a call if you feel it worthwhile?
  3. Hi guys! We have just lost our electric/double bass player due to his constant battle with a 2+ hour journey to rehearsals. We play a wide range of funky Blues, from classic material (NOT the 'tired' stuff murdered at jam nights!) through to contemporary funky numbers. A bassist who owns and can play both electric and double bass is essential to our repertoire. We're real friendly guys with no egos and we're super reliable. Our age range is 50-60. We have plenty of very recent live recordings to share with anyone who might be interested in coming onboard! Please message me or call me on 07885 858158 to arrange a chat? Cheers!
  4. Hi Toby! Are you still available mate? If so, please call me on 07885 858158 as I think we could be a great match! My love is of funky blues with a jazzy feel, as is the other guys I'm hooked up with We're accomplished players and have plenty of recent live recordings to share 😉
  5. I have several unissued studio and BBC recordings of Binky, dating back to early '67 during his brief time as part of Alexis' trio 'Free At Last'. One day they just might see release!
  6. Based across Essex and East Hertfordshire, our band THE SONS OF ILLINOIS urgently needs an accomplished bass player, ideally who can play both electric and upright bass. Our band aims at PRO-standard output, producing an authentic harmonica-pinned 1950's-1980's amplified CHICAGO BLUES sound. The band's repertoire majors on EXCITING material from the songbooks of artists such as Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Jimmy Reed, Sonny Boy Williamson II, Howlin' Wolf, Junior Wells/Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, Shuggie Otis etc. The material is FAR from just standard 12-bar stuff, rather there's plenty of variety in feel, tempo etc. We have a professional approach and the cost of performance development and promotional materials (video/audio etc.) will be covered from elsewhere. Are you reliable and have a professional, committed mentality? Would you get a real kick out of playing in a tight, pro-standard outfit dishing up an AUTHENTIC Chicago Blues sound, rather than the heavier (Moore/Gallagher/Bonamassa) 12-bar 'rock' stuff? Good availability and flexibility is essential, as is commitment to initially rehearse weekly (around the CM1 area) so the band sound and stagecraft is tight. Please DM or call 07885 858158 for more info!
  7. STOP PRESS (11 July): We urgently need an accomplished ELECTRIC bass player who does (or will) use a hollow body instrument (e.g. Gretsch, Ibanez etc.), or we would welcome a DOUBLE bass player who also plays electric bass guitar. Our band is to be a pro-standard unit producing an authentic 1950's/1960's amplified CHICAGO BLUES sound; the look of the instrumentation is an important aspect of the band image. Repertoire majors on exciting material from the songbooks of artists such as Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Sonny Boy Williamson II, Howlin' Wolf, Junior Wells/Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker etc. etc. It is absolutely NOT just standard 12-bar stuff, rather there is plenty of variety feel, tempo, time signatures etc. Would you get a real kick out of playing in a tight outfit dishing up real Chicago Blues, rather than the done-to-death, heavy (Moore/Gallagher/Bonamassa) 'rock' stuff and the bog standard stuff spewed out at jam nights? Commitment to initially rehearse with us weekly (Friday evening or Saturday afternoon) in CHELMSFORD - to pull sets together - and then gig as soon as is possible. Rehearsals would then only be to learn batches of new material at future points. Plenty of work opportunities likely, so availability and flexibility is also essential. An agent will be appointed. Please call or text me NOW on 07885 858158 for more info! Cheers
  8. Hi Markus! Great to hear from you chum! Can you please give me a call on 07885 858158? Cheers, JM
  9. Our band is to be a pro-standard unit producing an authentic 1950's/1960's amplified CHICAGO BLUES sound. We urgently need an accomplished upright (double) bass player, who also plays electric bass. Pro-standard/ex-touring musicians occupy the other roles. Repertoire majors on exciting material from the songbooks of artists such as Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Sonny Boy Williamson II, Howlin' Wolf, Junior Wells/Buddy Guy etc. etc. Would you get a real kick out of playing in a tight outfit dishing up real Chicago Blues, rather than the done-to-death, heavy (Moore/Gallagher/Bonamassa) 'rock' stuff? Commitment to initially rehearse with us weekly (Friday evening or weekend daytime) in CHELMSFORD - to pull sets together - and then gig as soon as is possible. Plenty of work opportunities likely, so availability and flexibility is also essential. Please call or text me on 07885 858158 for more info Cheers, Junior
