I think that is a typo in the description. For what I know the 5 string Classics are JJ only, no other configuration for this specification

This!

Thank you @ead and @Eldon Tyrell for giving it some time. I myself am not a fan of the growls, also I agree the mix could use more bass but that was out of my control. We share the same rehearsal room and the drummer, too š so it was natural to give them a hand when they wanted to go forward with the recordings.

yes! I knew when I saw this before even reading the text š

I have been asked to play on the EP of a band consisting a few friends, a classic session "job". I have used my Spector NS-5XL for the recording. Thought to share with you here (prog metal content with female vocals) Would be awesome if you would give it a spin. Thanks!

It is like this has been for a while for Ibanez, they churn out a couple of super expensive basses and either call them some versions of their Prestige lines or some signature ones like the top end Willis, Veasley or Nitti models, all in an attempt to increase the perceived value of the brand by offering these at high prices almost nobody buys at but giving leverage for their entry to mid models which they are making most of their business. I own a bunch of Japaneese Prestige SR's and the brand always stays on my radar with models I want to own/ try so all the above is simply my observation, not a praise /critique.

Yeah, more is more š

Nahh, what's that straigt nut, fanned first (zero fret?) thing?
-
That worked for me for a while but now anytime I think of selling any of my Spectors that I'm not using as much as the others I'm quickly coming to a conlusion that no way, I should keep it. So nowadays I'm buying basses that I'm either interested in trying or they are Spectors and I buy them for being keepers. My Spector collection is by no means big, seven to be precise but it is a well rounded up gang so my Spector GAS is limited (but unfortunately quite money demanding)

I like the Dimension 5, not sure about the pricing or if I would get one but sounds cool and looks nice (apart from the string tree)
-
Not exactly this model but I had two FGN neo classic 5 string jazz and the quality of them was flawless. I would recommend FGN without any doubt, the workmanship is impeccable and both of them sounded great, too. Actually the model you have linked is pretty much the same as the neo classic apart from the pickguard shape

How many is that so many? I think I could count about 10-12 basses in this video with the ones hanging one the wall plus a few that is on the left side rack. Mind you I've never seen any other videos of his nor am I familiar with him so maybe I'm missing something. But anyway, you just need the right number of Spectors, right? š

Cool find! I think they have nailed the Dimension pretty well, the headstock is nice (though that string tree is strange) Would have loved if the pickups are slanted a bit differently ( more to the direction of the bridge at the lower strings)

Most likely referring to FujiGen Gakki, the Matsumoto based guitar manufacturer. Love the TRB II series btw.
-
Yes, both the 4 and 5 string versions are weight relived.

Congrats to this wonderful piece of subtle beauty. I am a longtime Spector player and for me the NS design is the best out there coupled with one of the most useable sounds a bass can have. (Yes, Iām a fanboy š) This classic lineup is really tempting but I really should not buy yet another Spector. Anyway, enjoy your new bass!

Considering pickups are the source of the sound of an electric bass I'd rather change them if I were unsatisfied with the sound of the bass rather than trying to shape a sonic spectrum that is 'flawed' from the source. Of course it all depends on whteher the culprit really is the pickup or something else. I assume you already have the DG pedal so you can experiment first w/o changing anything and see if you can come to find the sound that fits your requirements.

I have a couple of Spectors so I have tried quite some combinations. If you are putting a 45P to the neck I'd recommend using a 45DC or 45CS for the bridge partly for better maching the outputs (the P has a lot bigger output than the J ) and also the q has a bridge pickup closer to the bridge so a J in itself might be too thin sounding in that position.
-
From my experience the 45px and 45jx are a lot harder to find anywhere in stock whereas the dcx is is readily available with most vendors. I have Spectors using both dcx/dcx and px/jx and the dcs have fuller sound with more of everything while the pj sound more "dry" for the lack of a better word. I love both for different reasons.

This was a shocking news this morning. Can't really say much.... Awesome player who by all accounts was a very humble and kind person. May he rest in peace!

Congrats! Eventhough I'm a diehard Spector player I have a special place in my heart for Ibanez SR six string basses (and own two Prestige SRs, too) and that is the platform upon which the ANB was built. I have contemplated getting one when they released it but the 18mm spacing put me off (prefer the 16.5mm of the Prestiges' )
-
As expected lots of opinions here so I'll throw in mine as well. One of the nice surprises I had lately is how good the Ernie Ball Cobalts sound and how long they last. They are my fav strings now (and I wasn't a fan of the usual EB Slinkys)
-
I'd keep the Lakland purely because of the aesthetics, really like the bound maple neck with block inlays plus I prefer pristine over roadworn š

I think both BUT tapping and chord playing where you can really utilize a 6ers potential can be tricky up above the 12nd fret or at least it was on my Canadian Dingwall AB5. Up there the frets are fanning in a way that wasn't naturally serving the position of by fretting hand (left) for chords and tapping did get some time to be adjusted. Funny because adjusting to playing fanned fret basses in band / song setting was about 5 mins (where I mostly play on the money end of the neck š ) Also Dingwall has 18mm spacing on the sixers as well IIRC so there is a certain width to the neck which might be too much for some. My above mentioned AB5 had some of the best becks I 've ever tried so who knows?
