Thanks @ped. It was not entirely my idea as I saw something similar on a Ritter bass in that he moved the pots to the back onto a recessed part of the cavity IIRC. Can’t really remember but I asked a local preamp maker if the pots can be replaced with sliders and it turned out to be possible so the rest was figuring out how to mount them to the control cavity cover. Also it’s worth mentioning that there are two microswitches at the right of the two top sliders which do the coiltap for the TW pickups

I have refinished my Spector and while at it I moved the controls to the back. The sliders do what the pots did, vol, vol, bass, treble. This was my gigging bass for a long time, I never touched the controls on the bass but got annoyed when they were accidentaly turned when getting it out from the gigbag etc. So I thought it was a great idea and it was since I never regretted. Love the clean look of the front also love when it takes a while for peolple to realize what's missing 🙂 Also the sliders are sticking out of the plate just enought so you can move but never with your body or leg or whatever it is getting in contact with in the heat of the gig 🙂

I think that some of the most important part of the Ibanez SR experience is the neck and those who love SR's do so because of the ergonomics (body and neck) I'm certainly like this, I started out on a SR500, switched to 506 and even though I almost exclusively use Spector 4 and 5 string basses the Ibanez SR 6 string basses' ergonomics have been the benchmark for me in terms of sixers (and currently own two of them, a SR3006 and 5006) So based on my experience I'd recommend getting the fanned fret Ibby. I had a fanned fret Dingwall some years ago and I have to say that the fanning was really easy to get used to.

Yes I did and still do (though it is on a loan to a dear friend of mine now) It was pre basschat days and found your ad somewhere I don't know where but we did the transaction nevertheless. It was July of 2008. Looks like this nowadays: And with my Spector and another great Ibanez Prestige 5006 (still have them all three)

I don' remember if I bought it from you or somebody else but I have this SR3006 for 12 years now. Changed the bassculture pickup and the original preamp since plus put up a ramp. It is a very comfortable bass, one of my all time fav's.

Congratulations! Awesome pair, how much of a sonic difference is there between the two? The pu positions seem to be the same even with traditional P / reversed P config.

Yeah! You know that sustain that these neck through tables have is another level. It really makes your dinner last a lot longer... 😂

😄 😄 Actually no. I have this neck through table in our living room, the '77 table was outside on the porch and now in my cousin's garden.

Speaking of white Spectors, I just had a great and fun rehearsal with my band for our gig on Friday using my Spector Euro 435 (35" Euro 4 LX with solid maple wings) This is my main live bass since last spring and although I prefer the NS-5XL for recording this is really kicking donkey for playing live. Since the G string is not a necessity for the gig it is tuned B(A)EAD and I can have the iconic white Spector PJ look onstage 🙂 This is such a great bass, I got rid of the Aguilar P/J that it came with in favor of a X series EMG PJ but kept the Aguilar OBP it came with. And in action! 🙂

I'm quite safe as I don't play 4 string basses much but still have two 4 string Spectors. So it is quite easy to convince myself 😄 -

I got mine directly from Japan. The shop I got it from is Ikebe Gakki and I had wondeful time working out this with them, the second time I dealt with them.

Lovely! I have a ash body / one piece maple neck/ board M265 with 3 band Bartolini eq. '60 spacing... (see pic below) Congrats to the safe arrival of the Celinder! Have fun with it and I'm looking forward how it will be performing after the initial impressions. I always wanted to have a Celinder 5 string jazz...

Ohhh. The white one is stellar, as is the black. Wondering about the pu placement, it seems like the same spot as on the 1977. So it is not like a regulare Ian Hill w/o the bridge pu, but seems to me that with getting rid of the J they moved the P closer to the bridge, too. Any thoughts?

I know. Thing is I don't use traditonal tuned 4 string basses much other than playing along with some music. I play the 1977 mostly at home playing along songs from the '70-80s My NS-5XL is the main recording bass I have been using for years and custom Euro435 that I use for live (tuned AEAD) plus a pre LX Euro5 as a backup. Exchange rate is bad, covid is here so it's getting hard to justify a "new toy" even if funding it is not a problem.
