    It's a pity that you had this experience. I quite like some of his bass designs, and I was contemplating having one ordered some years ago. I still receive his newsletters and occasionally check the website and can't help to see that the way of the communication is going into a direction that I find 'over the top' sometimes. It's just too much for me. But I don't doubt that he creates some great basses. Maybe he had a bad day? (not that it is an excuse for anything)

    For sale is my Yamaha TRB6PII bass. This is the top of the line Yamaha six string, made in Japan, now discontinued. The build quality and the wood choices are on par with many boutique basses. It has everything that could be asked from a bass really. The bass is in very good condition (see the pics), plays well and works perfectly. Some key points: - 35" scale, ebony fingerboard, maple/mahogary 5 pice neck - light ash body with figured maple top and back - individual bridges with piezzo, 3 band EQ + a piezzo blend control - cca 5 kgs The price includes a Yamaha hardshellcase and shipping within the EU. I'm not really looking for a trade unless it is a US Spector NS5 or NS6 or a fretless Euro5. Now let the pictures speak..... Bought on this forum last year, had it refinished in this color, also shaved the neck a bit. The color was hard to get right, I wanted something transparent, not too pink, no too magenta and not too purple. This is the closest it got. The Puple one was originally a Euro 5, the knobs are removed and the controls are now on the back of the bass on the control cavity cover as sliding potmeters.

    I think it makes for an excellent project if you are up to making one. Otherwise I think the novelty factor wears off quite quickly so I wouldn't buy one. But again, would love to make one just for the sake of it. Quite a head turner... :-)

    There is a Euro5LX in the classifieds (no affiliation) You will not get a better deal than that regarding price/value. If you buy this your are set for life really. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/304346-2016-spector-euro-5lx/ I had the very same bass (2016, red) and sold only because I got a US NS-5XL. Euro's have always been really solid and good basses but lately they have even upped the ante especially with the finish.

    The bass I've bought from Neil has just arrived, very well packaged and intact. The whole deal was hassle free and very pleasand indeed, especially both of us being Spector owners and admirers. Trust is very important when one deals with another internationally without being able to see and try the item. You can deal Neil with confidence, I wish the worlds was a place where everything could be done in the same way.

    I prefer the look of the unlined board but when I play it has to be lined. I never played enough to have a muscle memory on a level that allowed me to play clean on an unlined fretless. (when I was a kid I played chello. Due to the taper of the neck and the hand positions it seemed a lot easier to get to the right place than on the long neck of the bass. )

    Although it is at the top end (or maybe over) of your budget, I'd buy a used Spector Euro5. One of the best value modern sounding 5 strings out there. Also quite easy to flip if it turns out it is not your thing.

    Great bass, it is one of my fave Spector color. Very fair price, too. Bris is a great person to deal with, bought a bass from him last year and everything was fine.
