I had this very model (Korean SR506 from 2006) as my first six string Ibanez Soundgear and I still remember the warm, round sound and the playability (at that time I had a six string BTB and I did not like it's neck at all) Unfortunatley I have absolutely no reason to buy this as I'm the owner of two Prestige six string Soundgears and can not use them as much as I'd like to. But for anyone who's looking for a well rounded six string bass with quality sound, craftmanship and ergonomics and all of this for a fair price don't look further.

One bass that comes to my mind is the Yamaha TRBII5. Made in Japan, has a thunderous and useful B string and it is one of the most versatile bass I have ever owned. A used on could be around 500GBP or such. I also love my Spector, great growl on the low strings but it can not be much vintage... :-)

Price Drop - Ibanez Prestige SR3006e Bass - Trades considered
Thanks Paul! Credit to you for keeping both models.
Wasn't too hard a decision. The 3006E has been with me for quite some years, once I sold and bought back (the only bass I ever bought back) So it gotta stay eventhough currently it doesn't get much playing time. Maybe you should keep this, too. I honestly think that these MIJ Prestige Ibanez basses are really special and has their own charm which I don't normally find in many other basses. Anyway, good luck with the sale! -

These 2nd series TRB's are excellent value for the money. I have used this very model and it's six string version. High quality craftmanship and a wide array of sounds are possible with these. Eventhough I've drifted away from Yamaha, I can not recommend these enough, especially for this price. Free bump! :-) -

Nice bass Mark! These Prestige Ibanez sixers are some of the most comfortable and best value six string basses around. I had this very model in five string version and the sustain was unbelieveable. If I hadn't already had two other Ibanez Prestig sixers around plus some nice other basses (Spector Spector Spector!) and a Dingwall for sale I'd take this from you. (somebody please buy this before my GAS kicks in) For possible buyers: I've had a couple of deals with Mark and he is a great seller / buyer and a nice chap overall.

Thanks! I'm very happy with how this turned out.

I have decided to refinish my Spector Euro 5. Originally it had a matte see-through finish. The maple quilt is quite nice on this and I thought a lighter finish would do some justice to it and I also wanted to experiment with some other ideas so I decided to have the bass refinished by a local luthier. Things to notice: - body and headstock got a gloss finish, but the neck is oil finish for playing comfort. - electronics are the same TonePump that was before, but the controls are moved back to the control cavity cover. - I'm using sliding pots for (top to bottom) vol, vol, treble, bass. The top of the sliders are just a tiny bit over the surface so they don't catch anything (and stay in place) - the two round microswitch (hard to notice, they are recessed to the right of both vol sliders) are what used to be the push/pull pot for humbucker/single coil switch of the EMG TW pickups. The reason for the controls mod is that I hardly ever touch the controls and like the clean look of the top of the bass this way. Time will tell if I'd ever miss the pots from the top. And now the pics......
