  1. I hear you....I sold my old Spector pre-LX Euro some years ago and wanna get back. Fortunately it 's with one of my friends and if he'll sell I'm the buyer.

But back on topic: somebody buy this Ibanez Sr1006, one of the best value basses in the Classifieds right now.

  2. Nice bass Mark! These Prestige Ibanez sixers are some of the most comfortable and best value six string basses around.
I had this very model in five string version and the sustain was unbelieveable.

If I hadn't already had two other Ibanez Prestig sixers around plus some nice other basses (Spector Spector Spector!) and a Dingwall for sale I'd take this from you.
(somebody please buy this before my GAS kicks in)

For possible buyers: I've had a couple of deals with Mark and he is a great seller / buyer and a nice chap overall.

  3. I have decided to refinish my Spector Euro 5. Originally it had a matte see-through finish.
The maple quilt is quite nice on this and I thought a lighter finish would do some justice to it and I also wanted to experiment with some other ideas so I decided to have the bass refinished by a local luthier.

    Things to notice:

    - body and headstock got a gloss finish, but the neck is oil finish for playing comfort.
    - electronics are the same TonePump that was before, but the controls are moved back to the control cavity cover.
    - I'm using sliding pots for (top to bottom) vol, vol, treble, bass. The top of the sliders are just a tiny bit over the surface so they don't catch anything (and stay in place)
    - the two round microswitch (hard to notice, they are recessed to the right of both vol sliders) are what used to be the push/pull pot for humbucker/single coil switch of the EMG TW pickups.

The reason for the controls mod is that I hardly ever touch the controls and like the clean look of the top of the bass this way. Time will tell if I'd ever miss the pots from the top.

    And now the pics......

  4. Jim, if you can make the fretted to something that sounds / feels different than the main bass you have then go for the fretted version because it'd make sense.

But I'd go for the fretless way. Still you can use as a backup instrument (well, sort of) and you will discover new things by playing fretless.. And can fret it later if you don't like it.

My experience is that playing fretless can be quite an undertaking but it teaches you a lot regardless whether you can apply it to your current band or not.
