1. As a current Dingwall AB5 and 2 Ibanez Prestige 6 string owner (SR3006 and 5006) I find this model interesting.
My AB5 has a thin neck, on pair with the Ibanez Prestige SR1005 neck I had previously.
Haven't tried Dingwall 6 strings but if they are in the same vein the difference on the nut end of the neck compared to the 6 string SR's can not be big.
I love Ibanez's tight string spacing but get along with the AB5's 18mm as well.

My feeling is with this fanned fret Ibanez is that the 1,5 " difference is not bringing in the real advantages of the FF system.
The B string on my Dingwall is really unlike anything else I tried. Its not so much about thundering open B (or A) string, but the musicality it has even in the upper registers.
I find myself using the B string on this bass a lot more on the 7-12 fret area because it does sound nice with lots of harmonic overtones.

I can try and talk you into it, if you like... solid maple wings, 3-piece maple neck with graphite rods, active EMG P/Js... just like the USA NS2! I'm more than happy with mine, it's great! :D http://basschat.co.u...ro4-audio-file/
Look at it this way... you only need a Euro4 to complete the set!

Thanks! :-)
I used to have a EURO4 EX with a poplar top. Liked that a lot, I think the Spector ergonomics shine the best on the 4 string NS models. But... I just did not use it at all.
Seems like all the projects I have been part of in the last 8 years require a B string so I have given up on 4 string basses.
Every now and then I get one, like that EURO4 or a Fender Jazz or such, but after a while I come to my senses and sell it to someone who actually uses it.
I need to feel like a given instrument is getting used otherwise why having it? I'm not a collector type of a person.
This is the reason my EURO6 is for sale as well.

That being said I'm sure that at some point I'll have one again and put a drop tuner on it for drop D tuning. Spectors sound like nothing else and the 4 string PJ's do sound different that the 5's with the EMG DC's.

6 stringers may be a niche market but I had one of these for a couple of years (same finish) and they are one of the easiest to play. Fabulous neck so ideal for someone looking to get into 6 string but who's also after a serious bit of quality. GLWTS

Thank you Leschirons! I agree.... :-)

4. I think these days it really depends on what kind of music you are playing.
For me there is a gig where it is absolutely necessary to have a low B (A) string whereas I can live without the high C
I use my Spector EURO5 most of the time there. Wonderful recording and live tone for that band.
There are the occasional acoustic gigs where I could get on with a 4, but I don't own any and honestly I really like the B string as a thumb rest.
(I use the 'floating thumb technique' for my right hand)
Still I own two wonderful Ibanez Prestige six string basses that I do most of my practice with. I love the range, the symmetry etc.

Some years ago I had one of my sixer strung D G C F Bb Eb, just like the upper 6 strings of a 9 string bass (or almost the same tuning as a guitar)
It was great but getting the right strings that don't pup was nightmare.
Unfortunately I did not have the time to explore the possibilities it brought to me, but was a cool project.

I think you should be open minded. No one goes to the piano player and say why you have 7 octaves on your grand piano when you only use notes within a 4-5 octave range? Why should the number of the strings determine what and why you play?

5. I've owned a NT5 from '91. It was just not for me, just as others said before the main issue was the 1st position was to far of a reach. My Dingwall with 37" B string has the 1st position around the same place...
The sound was ok, but for the band I was playing at time other basses did the job better. (Spector)

With all this being said some of the best fretless tones I've ever herad came from Thumbs. Should I ever go seriously for the fretless way, I'd get a Thumb and forget all the nuances and just play it.

6. Also worth noting that this model has a 34" scale lenght unlike later models NS5CRFM and the EURO 5 LX that have 35" scale.
I've seen people looking for 34" 5 string Czech made Spectors so thought I add this.
I owned this model, but one year earlier with the SSD logo. That is a bass I miss even though I'm happy with my 35" Spector EURO5.

Good luck with the sale!

7. Thanks for the kind words. I think six string basses are still a niché, so it is not a surprise that they move slower, even if they are of a well known brand's tried and trusted model line.
Probably the fact that I'n not in the UK does not help as well.
But that's ok. I think there is a buyer somewhere who will enjoy this bass as much as I enjoy its five string sister which is my main bass. (EURO5)

I will always have a sweep spot for these Japaneese TRB's.
Ehhh well I wish I could be sweep picking as good as to have a sweeP spot LOL :-)
So it is a sweeT spot I wanted to write.
BTW this TRB is getting so much love here that I'm sure it will be gone soon.

9. So I had a TT5 with the two band EQ. Pickups were Delanos. It was with alder boby and maple board.
It was my first modern jazzbass and quite liked it. The neck was comfortable, the stringspacing as well, only it was a tad bit heavy.
Quality was really good and it had a feeling of a well made instrument.
After I got my Sadowsky I sold it but still hold these basses in high regard.
I think if someone is on the market for an active 5 string jazzbass kind of instrument, Sandbergs are one of the best bet in this price range.

Actually I"ll be gigging my 5LX this weekend, too. Only some thousads of miles away. Have a great show!

11. Hey, you all know you want this! Mark is a great guy to deal with and these are fantastic instruments!
I had one a couple of years ago and even though I have sold that, my main instrument is still a Spector EURO 5.
Grab this and you wont be disappointed.
Have a free bump Mark!

12. I've just received az Ibanez SR5006 from Hugues. The bass is in a perfect condition, probably never had such "mint" second hand instument so far :-)
Tha transaction was great and I'd deal with him anytime.
Credit goest to Basschat, this is such a great place for trustworthy bassplayers :-)
