  1. These are some of the best Euros the Czech workshop ever made, the quality is outstanding and the sound is immense, clean, powerful yet very dinamic as well. Those DiMarzios are outstanding. I have this and the '77LE as well and love them both. (my only two 4 string basses)
  2. Looks so much better with the crown inlays.....
  3. Yes it is. The great thing about it is that while it looks great it sounds even better. And this is not coming from me but from live sound engineers and record producers as well. It is the one that is actually asked back for next sessions.
  4. It is my Spector NS-5XL. I bought it 5 years ago and while I use my other Spectors for gigs and practice this is the one which is the ONE. Hard to explain but this is which feels like home. For example whenever I'm working on something this is the one I reach for. Also this is the one that I recorded the most since I got it (all the other were fretless sessions) Had other US Spectors but this one is special.
  5. Easy if you don't actually playing the thing..... 😄
  6. Me too, they got it really right, my only issue is the matte finish, would have loved it high gloss.... (all my satin finishes glosses up where my hand rubs against the finish )
  7. It depends how the controls on the bass you are getting are set up. By definition it should be either vol, balance, stacked mid/sweep and stacked bass/treble, or vol, vol, stacked mid/sweep and stacked bass/treble. You're most probably leave the stacked ones as they are and replace the vol, vol or vol, balance with the two push-pull vol pots that the EMG sets have. You are not going to use the rest (ie active tone) The BQC have center detents, therefore a no boost no cut position and comparing to the Tonepump is tricky because the TP operate in a different way. But I'm sure you'll be getting the tone you want from this setup.
  8. @Mongo here's what I think: - get the X series over the normal 35TW because with the X series one the volume (output) does not drop much when using the coil tap - unlike the original 35TW where it drops significantly. - the push-pull volume pots will come included with the EMG pickups if you buy the new, they are part of the package - I would wait with the preamp, the BQC is a great system and has the mid control which many find very useful. So I'd intall the 35TWX and see (hear) If the preamp really needs to be changed
  9. Yes. If I like something I have more than once ended up getting more of the same. - have an addiction to Spector NS models, both US and Euro, have 7 of them while 2 or 3 would do fine (recording and gigging with backup) - love the Ibanez Prestige Soundgear six strings, currently have two of them (SR3006 and 5006) but there's gonna be more I think, a 1SR006 calls my name 🙂 - have a fretted / fretless pair of WW Thumb 6NT Both of them are quite recent so I may end up another one but from the '89-'91 period....
  10. If I were you I'd first put on a new set of strings to see (hear) if there is anything to fix.
  11. Yes, they do like this on the Czech models.
  12. I used that tuning for a few years and lately as well for a recording project. I used a .130-.045 set for practice and a .135-.050 set for the recordings. Bass were Spector Euro5 (practice) and Spector NS-5XL (recording). The .135 was fine enough for me so never needed thicker strings... My current gig requires low A so I use a drop A tuning (AEADG) for those songs and ADADG for one song which is a lot easier to play because of a open D riff
  13. Nice score @Woodinblackcongratulations! Bass is beautiful and seems to be in excellent nick, have fun with it!
  14. Can't really think of any production 6ers with 19mm spacing other than the 1st gen Yamaha TRBs (IIRC) which are by no means inexpensive and maybe the Brice Z Prestige which was more affordable but were produced back in the 00's so probably hard to find. Probably there others out there but the majority of the inexpensive sixers have 18mm or in many instances even tighter spacing (Ibanez, Cort uses 16.5mm mostly)
  15. Yes! And I also should have known that I’m in the wrong place to be talked out of buying another Spector 😂😂
  16. I wonder how much of this applies to the 5 string versions 5lx vs 5lt I have found the EMG PJ a very distinctive sounding combo and just like you this is what I associate the classic Spector sound with. My dual coil EMG equipped 5 string Spectors sound different (and very good in their own right) so I would love to hear how they compare to the LT5. I have been eyeing these but couldn’t try as of yet and am reluctant to buy - really don’t need another Spector….
  17. Well it’s a used one not something they usually carry so that may be the reason
  18. Thanks for giving it a spin. Yes, I think it does a wonderful job. As I almost exclusively play fivers in a perfect world Spector would release a 5 string version of this exact spec but alas, that did'nt happen in the '70s so no reason for a 'reissue' either.
  19. They are D'Addario strings. Most probably EXL Nickels by the look of them.
  20. This one is at Mansons Guitars for £1,899.00 which is a bit steep but this is a limited edition plus they have it for a while and I guess the price should be negotiable.
  21. I was asked to contribute to a Ghost cover my bandmates did and I used my Spector Euro LE4 1977 If anyone's interested here is the video of it
  22. I do except for fretwork and electronics. I don't have the patience for the first and don't have the means for the second. Other than that I do everything.
  23. Congratulations! Very nice specimen 🙂 I used to have one just like this back in the day, I think around 2008 or so. Similar poplar burl top but with EMG PJ, not Aggies. Can't find a pic of it but same model, same look. I loved it, I bought it when the Spector bug really bitten me but unfortunately couldn't use it much as most of the time I needed my 5 string Spector for the gigs so reluctantly I let it go. Seeing yours reminds me of that bass and the crisp, very defined sound it had. Fortunately though during the years I have collected a great selection of Spectors so I can't say I miss it but still, great memories. Enjoy it!
  24. Nice! I'm curious how are you gonna like the Aggie combo. I had the same combination when I received my white gloss Euro 435 - sounded good but only when I swapped the pus to X series EMG PJs became it a great sounding bass with the typical growl we all like. Kept the OBP2 in that though as I always run my preamps flat (or in case on the tp, a fav setting and leave at that)
