  1. I too ordered a pair, and certainly all the packaging and bits looked genuine. Even if I don't use them, a back up pair for £40 isn't bad
  2. Yeah Bristol's pretty big. And stop calling me Shirley. Thanks for the link. Recommendations are always helpful, hence the ask.
  3. Hi The speaker system we use is an HK Audio line array (4 active, 4 passive subs, 8 tops) along with Soundcraft Ui24r (it's the drummers setup). Excellent system all round, very clear and we always get comments on how good it sounds. He and I do our sound and we also run small festivals /hires. He bought it 10 years ago but now a few things need fixing. The main repairs are based in Leeds, and we're based in Bristol. So transport is a bit of an issue. Anyone in the Bristol/South West /West know any good PA repair shops we could try? We'd prefer to drive the stuff there ourselves, so looking for somewhere closer. Cheers in advance
  4. Looks like a losing battle with the guitar player, but is his amp pointing at his calves. Get him a stand so it leans vack and aims at his head. Did a PA this weekend and guitarist in one of the bands couldn't hear his Marshall jcm 100. It was 2ft behind him pointing straight at the back of his legs. 🤔
  5. And Usb plugs/sockets (the older larger ones). 50% chance of getting it right that 100% of the time you'll get wrong.
  6. Just finished 2 days of running the PA for the stage at the annual Nailsea 'international' Bike Show (Bristol). Excellent weekend. 12 really good bands of different genres of music. They were all great. All went very smoothly and all the bands were happy with their sounds. We played last on Saturday night. Unfortunately, it didn't start so well for us. Guitar player broke a string 2nd song, singers mic went intermittent and a bit of feedback. But after that, we went down a storm. Great gig. If anyone on here played, thanks for a great time.
  7. In 1983, at the age of 18 I left the band I was in as I landed a job in a Bristol studio and couldn't do both. I felt I had more of a career in music working in studios than in a band. I knew that we were never going to be signed (despite the singers ego), but was totally paranoid after I left that they just might. However, with exposure to better bands who didn't get signed, it didn't take long to realise that they never were and I'd made the correct decision. I've worked with a few bands that did get signed up by major labels, record an album but had no promotion and were basically a tax right off for the label. A very sad situation for the bands involved.
  8. Definitely this. And mute the drummer when you're trying to listen to the song you're covering and they play along. Why do they give you a dirty look when you ask them to stop? Thinking about it, any pedal can do this... If you throw it at them!
  9. Probably Hot Water by Level 42 on loop! Serious answer though would be that I just started working in London studios so very much into production /sound so Songs from the big chair, ABC, Eurythmics Sweet Dreams, Purple Rain, Art of Noise etc.
  10. Beyer DT 250. Used them at work for 20 years so know and trust them.
  11. Bass manufacturers in general to do a reasonably priced fretless unlined bass, say upto £450. There doesn't seem to be anybody doing them that I can see. They all tend to be lined. Ps, please point me in its direction if I've missed one.
  12. With no money outlay, for me, this is your best option. Is the bleed effecting the front of house sound, or have you just noticed how bad it is when soloing the tracks? When I've run the FoH sound for bands, I'm amazed at the bleed when listening pfl solo, (esp snare down vocal mic) but the mix sounds fine as it's blended and balanced as a whole by listening to the mix. It's not perfect by any means, but you'll never completely eliminate it, one learns to deal with it I guess. As for drummer vocal mics, completely agree they're a PitA (both the drummer and the mic). Especially if they won't help you out
  13. Definitely eat! I'll bring my 76 jazz along, bought from this very site this year. But mainly browse and chat.
  14. I'd love to come along to my first ever bass bash. Happy to pay the £13 upfront.
  15. Found it! In my local garden centre (well, not really)
  16. Own up, who's got it https://www.theguardian.com/music/2023/sep/02/search-launched-for-paul-mccartneys-first-hofner-bass-guitar
  17. Cheers guys, The drop down menu on the search text window isn't there on my phone browser, but as Reggaebass says, clicking on Topic further down then brings up the forum selection menu. Sorted Thanks both for the help.
  18. Thanks for the reply. But what am I missing? Regardless of which forum I'm in, if i do a search using the same word but in different forums, I still gets results from the whole site, not just from that forum. Eg, typing (randomly) 'wallpaper' in the market place forum or basses for sale, i get results from the General forum.
  19. Hi Is it possible to do a search just within one section? For instance, if i wanted to just search for 'fender jazz' in the For Sale section rather than the whole forum? Cheers in advance
