  1. Meh, actually.
  2. I'm not a fan, but Fender sticks with what they know for a very good reason...thousands upon thousands simply go with what works. Other than that, as already mentioned, every time they try something new and different like the Dimension or the Meteora, they don't exactly sell like hotcakes. You want something innovative and different, buy one of these. Nothing really innovative about it, but that pickguard is accountable for quite a few sales.
  3. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=Fender+Made+in+Japan+2024+Collection+Hybrid+II+Jazz+Bass&_trksid=p2332490.m4084.l1313 Several available in the UK on Reverb.
  4. I started another thread instead of adding pics here, even though I first became aware of these MIJ basses here. Sorry. That's what happens when posting while half asleep.
  5. Matching headstock puts it over the top. They seem to be all over the place with these basses...some of the ones with maple fretboards have matching headstocks, while most with rosewood have unfinished headstocks, with several exceptions.
  6. I'm betting it looks great in real life, and at least they got the name right with that one.🤔
  7. Some interesting finishes, especially compared to the new Player series line. Here are just a few, they have maybe seven or eight more finishes available. Beryl Red, Aquamarine, Inca Silver, Sunset Orange, Sherwood Green, Azurite Metallic and my favorite, Forest Blue, Fender's most confusing finish name yet!
  8. Had to look it up but you're right. I guess I really have forgotten all about Thunderbirds.
  9. I forgot all about Thunderbirds when I discovered this.
  10. An Acoustisonic bass version of this would be innovative.
  11. Well, he does play more than one bass... https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/gear/green_days_mike_dirnt_explains_why_he_chose_epiphone_over_gibson_for_his_new_bass_they_got_rid_of_all_that_stuff.html ...but right now this one with the full rosewood neck is his favorite
  12. Sorry, can't find a Jazz bass pic.
  13. Some better colors, too...Grey Burst and 3-Tone Sunburst were terrible choices.
  14. I like him just fine. He keeps it nice and simple here. https://youtu.be/2MRdtXWcgIw?si=Cf-_u3c8zqW1wprA I prefer this guy, though.
  15. What's this, the 8th or 9th $1,000 plus MIM and the 5th or 6th Mark Hoppus bass? Someone at Fender must really love him.
  16. Dimarzio Relentless...arched tops to match the fretboard radius and adjustable pole pieces.
  17. As mentioned above, Harley Benton. You can buy a brand new one for that price.
  18. Most Reverend basses are around 8 lbs. Just saw this Thundergun and it's under 8. They're available in the UK.
  19. This can't be the only one without any sharp edges.
  20. My first good bass was a Thunderbird Pro IV. Some people don't like them because they're active, but that's probably because they didn't try flatwounds or tapewounds. GHS black tapewounds would look great on that and they're a good match for the pickups and electronics. Countless pickguards available these days, too.
  21. Gruvgear Kapsule Duo Bass They call it a gigbag, but...
  22. The orange one isn't very orange. Maybe it's just the website shot, though. Regardless, I like a deeper orange.
  23. I don't remember seeing this one before. Another Limited Edition P bass from Guitar Center. $1,029.99 The Fender Player Series Saturday Night Special Precision Bass is as authentic as it gets when it comes to accessibility, style and the rumbling, seismic sound that has provided the foundation for thousands of hit tracks and albums. Sporting a slick Daytona Blue finish and equipped with a unique Seymour Duncan Saturday Night Special single-coil pickup not found in any other instrument, this workhorse electric bass delivers your creative vision with flair and power. Additional appointments include open-gear tuners, a Modern C neck and a 4-saddle bridge. With a smooth-playing feel and a look that’s built for the spotlight, this thunderous Precision Bass is ready to rock the studio or prowl the stage. The Player Saturday Night Special P Bass is now available exclusively at Guitar Center.
  24. Removing fretboard inlays and having them put in the fretboard of another neck wouldn't be easy, and I'd hate to think what someone would charge for such a job. For the price of the cheapest set of strings available, you can simply buy a set of fretboard stickers and put them on the new neck. I've had them on this bass for seven years and they still look good.
  25. I think you're really going to like your Dub King, regardless of the strings you go with. I almost bought the purple metalflake one, but went with a Bacchus Woodline instead.
