Once they were priced accordingly, but now, £1,500 and up...way up! Seriously, I'd rather buy a Fender, and I 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 buy Fenders.
-
Maybe over there, but I doubt it. Over here, still plenty for sale, countless posts about them, and many, many people still calling them the perfect bass...although the same can be said for the Jazz bass. The Precision isn't my favorite bass, but... https://www.talkbass.com/threads/why-does-talkbass-love-the-p-bass-so-much.1654921/ I've owned quite a few P basses, but none ever compared to this. (There must be a reason Diviser builds 100 Jazz basses for every P bass they make.)

Missed out on this one for a great price back when they were first discontinued. Now, the prices for mint ones are crazy!
-
Exactly! That's why they have the Fender Mod shop, which allows you to mod your bass the way you want it! Correction, the way Fender 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴 you to mod it.

Yes, it's been seen before...first few seasons of Bewitched, the phone in Darrin's den. Regardless, other than the Coral Red with the black pickguard, they're not offering anything close to exciting and new. The Aquatone blue, not bad, but is it really any different than last year's MIJ Maui Blue? I've said it before, they should call this the Fender Humdrum series.

Nothing better than the Jack Casady bass in its price range, and used ones do go for $500-$600. (Nothing better but this, that is. Not the easiest bass to find, but Reverb usually has a few and they're worth every penny, especially since I bought this one for $450!)

The link to the information from an Italian website has already been taken down. Same thing happened last year when a German site jumped the gun with info about new Fender basses. Regardless... Step into the spotlight and experience iconic Fender® sound and style with the Player II Jazz Bass® — a stage-ready bass guitar with contemporary updates to power your performance and inspire your playing. The Player II Jazz Bass radiates timeless Fender charm, but under the hood, it’s primed for today’s players. Everything about the neck is designed for fast and fluid playability, from the Modern “C”-profile with silky satin urethane finish on the back to the comfy 9.5”-radius slab rosewood or maple fingerboard with smooth rolled edges and 20 medium jumbo frets. A classic alder body is available in both timeless Fender finishes and never-before-seen colors unearthed from the archives. Player Series Alnico V Single-Coil J bass® pickups offer sweet highs, growling mids and seismic lows that elevate any genre. An adjustable 4-saddle bridge, single-groove steel saddles and open-gear tuners ensure precise tuning stability for the flexibility to explore endless sonic possibilities. As for never-before-seen colors, I doubt it, especially since they've been "unearthed from the archives." I'm betting they'll be offering Black, Polar White, 3-Color Sunburst...and thinking outside the box, Lake Placid Blue instead of Tidepool, Dakota Red instead of Candy Apple Red, and Surf Green instead of Sea Foam Green. Hey, maybe they'll surprise me and offer Candy-Apple Green, though! I've noticed that there aren't too many Player basses available at some stores and a markdown in price for what's left. Other than that, is this the year the price jumps to $949.99 for Player basses?

I called and asked them why they didn't go 3 x 3 and they couldn't give me an answer. When I asked them why they didn't at least go with a matching headstock, they hung up.

Who has a killer bass that they've neglected for one reason or another?

Another one. Have to sell it, I'm afraid. -
Forgot to mention it came in an easy-open box.

Thanks. Moving from NJ to Florida. Selling quite a few basses, keeping maybe four. Sure, who knows what will happen in the future, but right now I'm done. Shouldn't have even bought this one, but it's one of twelve and it's their top of the line, so... Just put on a set of GHS black tapewounds, sounds even better.

NBD - I know some BC members won't like it - but I do

Bacchus Woodline-Handcrafted-Flame Tamo-Made In Japan Beautiful piece of wood, very smooth neck, fairly light, impeccable construction, and amazing tone...the turbo switch is such a nice feature. This just might be my last purchase. Why not, no need for another Jazz bass when you buy the best.

Would've preferred matching Gunmetal, but this is close.

Nice Jazz bass ...... options for £500 (new or used)?

Big Jazz bass fan, I'm talking Squier...I have one of the best, a Crafted In China Classic Vibe. Still, this 40th-Anniversary Jazz came as a bit of a surprise, the satin-finish neck alone made it worth the money. -
Is this 1993 Squier Standard Precision Bass any good?
jd56hawk replied to Leo2134786's topic in Bass Guitars
I believe they preceded the Vintage Modified basses. Depending on how it plays and sounds, I'm betting it's better than the new Affinity basses. If the price is right, grab it. Looks pretty good! -
I'm no expert, but some Epiphone prices are getting ridiculous. One reason I went with a Thundergun instead of a Thunderbird...the Reverend is expensive, but easily justifiable.
-
I'm hoping the body of something like this makes up for such a hideous headstock, but I doubt it. Other than that...
-
Might not be the most important question, but is it worth that kind of money? (Yeah, sure, hard to say without playing one, but, regardless, what do you think?
-
Of course, nothing's uglier than a bass with no headstock.
-
The 4-string headstock looks better. Seriously, who wants their G&L mistaken for a Fender? Other than that, even the 5-string headstock doesn't come close to these.

Pickup suggestions for increased treble without increased noise

The Dimarzio Relentless Jazz pickups came as a big surprise to me...and I didn't even have the pots changed, though I'm thinking of going with Stellartone. No need for a battery and its complications, either. I see more and more bassists realizing just how good these pickups are. -
Golden Delicioud Pearl and Galactic Pearlburst.
