I am seeing African Head Charge tonight at the Cluny in Newcastle Upon Tyne. This is one of the tour dates that was postponed from February this year. I am expecting to see Don Chandler aka Donstrumental on bass https://m.youtube.com/@donstrumental8905 https://m.facebook.com/AfricanHeadChargeOfficial/

This is from the soundtrack of "The Apple". The notes say that George Clinton was involved in writing the lyrics and arranging it while Wikipedia says "Coby Recht said recording the film's reggae number 'How To Be a Master' was complicated due to actual Jamaican musicians performing on the song and not being able to 'read the charts' that were in English." Bass line is legit.

You asked and Martin Mull answered. -
I thought the second one was maybe the original that this was based on but it turns out it isn't. It is used as the theme tune for a well known US TV show

There is a recent thread of two man with a van operations that will pick up and deliver for around £60. Both came with good recommendations from board members. Maybe that is an option. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/480215-courier-alternative-man-n-van/

I don't trust anything that will not give me the option to opt out. I don't trust anything that tracks me to "help" me get more targeted content. I value this forum but I will have to consider my ongoing use if there is no option at all to opt out of this.

I submitted an order on the website for some new strings at half five on Wednesday, I got an order confirmation at half ten Thursday morning and they turned up today (Friday) in the post. Spot on.

This Royal Mail strike is really something....
skilamalink replied to lidl e's topic in General Discussion
Royal Mail made a profit of £758,000,000 last year so there is no need for the attacks on the workers' terms and conditions and no justification for the well below inflation pay offer. The company can afford it. Royal Mail have to run the universal coverage by law. If they don't then who will? -

How do you know that they aren't on their scheduled break? You don't. -
Is your taste in music quite isolating?

I go to gigs on my own and generally end up speaking to people there who have the same interest, love and passion for what is going on. If your local venues have regular gigs then you get to chat to them and sort of end up with gig friends. However I wouldn't trust any of them to hold my pint while I go for a slash. -

There is an online archive of Mark Lamarr's BBC Radio 2 shows at https://www.godseternaljukebox.com/ and there are multiple series of his Beginner's Guide to Reggae all free to listen to. I picked a random episode and he said this was one of his favourite reggae tracks ever.

Here is the Barry Brown original and the King Tubby dub. The bass in this dub mix is probably my favourite and one of the most gloriously note filled it goes everywhere: no simple repetition on this one.
