4. Hey Guys so im selling my Fodera Emporer Deluxe, Bought second hand from David Beasley at the GrooveShoppe, New York in 2005. The GrooveShoppe was selling the bass on behalf of the original owner who had barely taken it out of its case since new.

made in 2002
Fully Overlaid AAA Buckeye Burl Facing
Matching Mahogany Control Cavity Cover
Mahogany Back
Maple Neck
Set neck
Kingwood Fretboard
Aero Dual Coils
Rosewood ramp
35" scale
3 Band Pope Pre
i have gigged this bass quite a lot so it has been used but has been very well looked after. there is a small ding below the jack socket about 3 ml wide and a little nick where you would rest your arm that was there when i got the bass. i had the frets stoned at the Bass Gallery about a year ago so the bass just feels lovely. as for sound it gets a great Jaco tone as well as a nice jazz bass Tone, it also gets the AJ Tone with ease. As for price im looking for £3200, included is the Fodera case, Trussrod adjuster and a screwdriver to adjust the string height as well as the ramp that is not currently fitted to the bass. i live in Harrow and am happy to have anybody seriously interested come and try out the bass. Dave
 5. Brought one mag, it arrived really quickly and there was great communication throughout. Dave
 6. hey man, theres an early 90's issue that has a transcription of Pino's bass line on new york minute in it, do you still have it? Dave
 7.
Id prefer the cash but what do you have?? Paul
Fodera Emporer deluxe 5 string with buckeye top Dave
 8. what a lovely bass, are you accepting any trades? Dave
 9. just wanted to bump this up for being such an awesome piece of gear!! i used to own this exact set up and it always got such a great tone and never let me down (even after i dropped the head down a flight of stairs) if i had the money i would have had it off you by now. good luck with selling this one bud Dave
 10. i wouldnt say it was a very overpriced, i spoke ti alex at the gallery who gave me a quote, might consider a price drop soon though Dave

 12.
Bugger it ! I thought somebody had knicked my bass - imagine my surprise when scrolling through this thread and seeing what looked exactly like my bass staring back at me Thanks for all the info. Dave. Obviously unless there are two near identical basses out there, this would seem to be the one I recently bought from the gallery and yes I noticed the small ding on the neck and one on the headstock. But apart from these it appears to be in amazingly good shape after all it's done. I feel a little bit of a fake owning such an instrument after reading about it's history. Those fret markers where the maple is on the side of the neck and ebony (if I recall from a previous post by you) on the front are a really fantastic idea. The maple stands out beautifully and makes such a nice feature. Anyway, thanks again for the info. Mark
no worries man, they are the same bass, i sold mine to Pierre Ganseman who is on the forum and he traded it into the gallery for a zon i think, i saw it there a while back was kinda strange seeing it hanging on the wall. it is a really beautiful bass, she records really really well by the way. for those who asked heres a photo of the stringray that i sold her for By freltessbob, shot with DSC-P93A at 2009-09-04 and heres Pino with it at the gallery, feel free to have a look if your down the gallery in the next week or so. 13. sorry man, i forgot to add that last night, im in harrow outside of london just off the a40 Dave
 14.
Interesting you should mention that. Whilst looking through a forum on TB I came across several pictures that looked identical to the bass I bought - it was owned by fretless bob at the time and he mentions it was purchased from Paul Turner - so it could be the one. Whilst it looked identical even showing a chip on the headstock he seemed to indicate that there was quite a bit of wear on the body - mine didn't look too bad (or maybe my eyes are not so good nowadays). Either way it's a great looking instrument and plays real nicely
just thought i would chime in on this one, i bought the bass pictured below from Paul about 4 or so years ago directly, it was according to Martin the 1st/2nd Sei jazz bass ever made as Paul is the reason why the sei jazz even exists, he ordered 2 "prototypes" from Martin around 2000 the sister bass is a fretted 5 and is now owned by Corrine Bailey Rae's bass player (i forget his name) the reason i say its the 1st/2nd is because they were finished in the same week. the bass has done quite a few world tours and loads of gigs with Annie Lennox and has been on an album of hers, i loved it and gigged it at least 3 times a month, the "dent on around the 2nd position on the side of the fingerboard happened when it got knocked over by a clumsy drummer, about the wear, i don't remember it being really bad but it did have a lot of little nicks and scuffs, and the finish was looking a little dull. I gave the instrument a good buffing up before i sold it which made it sparkle almost like new which might explain why you havnt noticed many marks. if your wondering why i sold her i bought a beautiful 79" fretless stingray that has completely blown me away, its actually having a new fingerboard fitted by Martin at the moment, she should be finished in about a week. 15. ive had this cab for about 3 years, i bought it brand new from the bass gallery and have gigged it pretty often, i bought it mainly for small club gigs but i ended up buying an Epi 3X10 as i havnt had many small gigs lately so i thought i might as well send it on to a new home. its got a great growly sound that can only be achieved with a 15" cab, its got a tweeter level on the side which is great for dialing in a darker tone, ive gigged it with both electric and upright and several heads and it has always delivered exactly what i was after. im looking for £275 for the cab, i will post anywhere in the UK at buyers cost and am happy for buyer collection and will meet you half way if need be. 16. ive had this bass around for quite a while, and my dad had it for quite a while before that, its got a medium gauge set of roto flats as has been my motown machine for a while, its got a great sound, very similar to a precision, but that an extra quality that is kinda hard to put my finger on. the general condition of the instrument is great, its got the odd nick or graise here and there but not bad for a 30 year old. its very light and balances well on a strap or on your lap. i havnt got a case for this bass though so buyer will have to sort that bit out. im selling because ive recently aquired a 77 p bass which sounds awesome so i have no need for this anymore. i dont have a case for it, i will post it anywhere in the UK and am happy for buyer collection, i will meet you half way if need be. (im in Harrow just off the a40) i am looking for £650 but am open to offers. 17. would you be interested in letting the bag go seperately? how much would you want for it? Dave
 18. that looks lovely. im definately gonna get myself a fretted bravewood soon, have you compared this to a real 60's jazz, how do you find the comparison in sound?
 19. i have found fretless perfection in five forms so far. a lovely 79 stingray with a rosewood board that thankfully is mine the second is a friends 6 string fretless wal mkIII 6 with a walnut top that sounds amazing an 81 ibanez roadster with a coated maple fingerboard which again sounds amazing with a lovely glassy top end an acoustic bass made by martin with flat wounds, with your eyes closed you would swear it was an upright and the 4th is a pedulla 4 string buzz bass which had such a cool tone. still for me the best fretless sound for me is the stingray, i love it to pieces.
 20. Hi Steve, so i sold my lined fretless sei and managed to get my hands on a wonderful 79 fretless stingray that sounds and feels amazing but i am struggling a bit getting my left hand positioning together (as the bass is unlined and using my eye is only so helpful i figured the best thing to do would be to get my hands knowing almost exactly where they have to go before i do any thing) and thought maybe a few lessons with someone who plays a lot of fretless would be helpful. are you teaching in london at the moment, im in harrow and am cool to travel. cheers Dave
 21. man ive had my strobostomp 1 for about 5 years, its beat to heck as i have a tendency of dropping it but ive only had to repair once in all this time. some of the best piece of kit i own.
