Well done Clarky, sounds like you've got a good gig there. I like the music & there's plenty of scope for some nice bass lines. -
Going back to a simple old school set up.

Also for me simple is effective. All i use live is bass, sansamp for a bit of bass boost / little grit to cut thro & amp job done !!!! I do have a few effects, but use them to experiment with at home & to help keep practising exciting. -

I've played thro both cabs. They both have their plus & minus points. It all depends on what type of sound your looking for. From my personal experiences with them live, i found the Ampeg to be very boomy & the engineers & my guitarists were forever telling me to turn down the bass. So the sound lost its character. With the Swr, the engineers would usually commend me on the sound & afford me more volume,as its bottom end wasn't so big & they could control the mix better. The guitarist liked the sound better for the reason of that it was a lot cleaner sounding & they could hear the actual notes i was playing & didn't muddy the onstage sound. I personally also found the Swr to be a clearer sound onstage, it just cut through what everyone else was doing alot better. It wasn't as bass heavy, but that depends on what amp you use. I've tried them both with different amps, the Ampeg almost sounded the same didn't matter what amp i used, whereas the Swr sounded different depending on what amp was used. If at the time i could've afforded & had the space i would've gone for the Swr Senior. As it is i own Goliath 2 x 10 juniors. The best advice i could give is try before you buy, but with the amp you have, i personally would stick with the Senior.
Better than great, they are bloody fantastic.
Better than bloody fantastic, They're awesome, i can't see myself ever using any other makes of cabs. I would grab these myself, but i have more than i need as it is. They were one of the original compact cab brands back in the day. Even by todays standards they're still a reasonable weight.

What are you listening to right now?
Bernmeister replied to Sarah5string's topic in General Discussion
Just listening to the new Van Halen album - A Different Kind Of Truth. I don't think its out in the shops until monday the 7th Feb. One first listen, its a return back to form if you enjoyed their early stuff. The only thing thats lacking is the high pitched back vox from Michael Anthony. But everything a Van Halen fan expects from is there, the usual Dave Lee Roth humourous lyrics & vocal delivery. Eddie seems to have returned to form with some cracking riffs & great solos too. I think this album will do well for them, lets hope that they can keep this line-up or even let Michael Anthony return. Their new single is called - "Tattoo" which is on youtube. -
Yes, JJ makes it all sound so effortless, everything i've heard from him is great, he's timing is superb & yes he does have a great tone too.
