1. Thanks Rich. Great to meet you, too. Flu jab is booked. Hope your trip to Cyprus goes OK - I'm sorry that I forgot to offer my condolences when we met. Kindest regards, Pete
2. Just been down to see Rich to complete a deal for his Roadworn Jazz. What a great guy! I had a cup of coffee and an hour's worth of chat with him. Brilliant! Thanks for the coffee, Rich and the ultra-smooth transaction. Highly recommended! Best regards Pete
3. I used to have a Tech 21 VT pedal. They are excellent at achieving the really warm sound of valves without going to too much expense. Well worth trying. I used mine all the time, just sat there on top of my Aguilar DB751. I only sold it on when I sold the 751 and bought a Matamp GT200. That gives me the real deal.
4.
I let a bass go with my lovely old DR Sunbeams on. Silly me as the older they get the better I like 'em. I put a wanted ad up for some used Sunbeams and Pete came up trumps. He sent them first class, they arrived next day and all he asked was that I make a donation to BC. What a true gent if ever there was one !! Thanks very much indeed Pete, you've saved me a couple of months of hard work playing them in and a fair amount of cash to boot, it's very much appreciated. Cheers for everything Buddy, Pete.
Hi Pete Glad to be of help and a pleasure to meet you on BC. Regards Pete
5.
Has anyone already tried the new GT200? I also wonder if depth and presence controls are still useful with bass/mid/treble tone stack?
I find the Depth control to be very useful. When I first bought the amp it seemed that only the 10 o'clock and 12 o'clock positions would be any good. That was until I was playing in a small, very enclosed room that was very very boomy. The only setting that would allow the bass to cut through without it going muddy was the 2 o'clock position! Kudos to Matamp for seeing that one! The Prescence I don't really use so can't comment, I'm afraid. Hope this helps Regards Pete
6.
Awesome, awesome bass at a great price! I really can't praise them highly enough. As Jigster says, the necks are just amazing! Good luck with the sale dude!
+1 from me. Mine plays like a dream and the 3 band eq allows you to get whatever tone you're looking for. Outplays a Fender any day of the week. It's a shame they chose to call it a "Basic" as it's anything but basic - top quality build and great necks. Best of luck with the sale!
7. Lindy Fralin pick ups really do make all the difference. I've a pair on my Overwater Jazz and they make it sound beautiful. Best of luck with the sale. Regards Pete
8. Just sold my DB751 to Andy. Great guy and very easy to deal with. Prompt payer and good communications ensuring a very swift and straight forward transaction. Thanks Andy
9. Thanks, Andy. Pleasure to do business with you. Regards, Pete
10. This has got to be a bargain at this price. It would set you back £1749 at Guitar Guitar!
11. Sold Chris my Tech 21 VT Bass pedal. Very smooth transaction. Quick payment and fast collection. Great guy to deal with and thoroughly nice bloke.
12. Glad you like it, Chris. It was great to meet you, too. All the best, Pete
13. Now with pictures added.
14. Up for sale is my Aguilar DB751. This is the amp with the incredible amount of headroom. I have had the amp from new and it is in excellent condition as it has always been kept in a flightcase since new. The flightcase is included in the sale. Full details are on the Aguilar website. I'm not after any trades as I'm looking to raise funds to finance a new project. I'm looking for £1200, collected from Leeds, or meet up for the cost of the diesel. 15. Just taken delivery of my new GT200 for its first gig On Saturday gone. Some feedback from Saturday night's gig from the guitarist in VagaBond Hey Pete, First of all the amp sounds amazing. Its a million times better than your old one. Such a huge warm deep sound, very musical sounding if that makes sense! (You know what i mean). I cant believe what a difference it has made. Cheers Scotty My "old one" was an Aguilar DB751 so it's great that my new GT200 got such brilliant praise and recognition. The feedback was completely unsolicited. The other band playing on the bill also used our backline and we were blown away by the beautifully warm and creamy bass tone that really cut through the mix. I can't thank you guys at Matamp enough for building me a bass masterpiece! Kindest regards Pete
16.
Does anyone know the dimensions of the latest version of the GT200 please?
Dimensions as follows Width - 59cms Depth - 32.5cms Height - 27cms Cheers Pete
17. Certainly am! I'll get back to you as soon as I have it here safe and sound. Cheers Pete
18. I'll be collecting mine in the next couple of days. I'll measure it for you and let you know. I think it's slighly wider than the previous model. Alternatively I'm sure Andrew or Jeff would oblige over a phone call. They're very helpful. Cheers, Pete
19. I used to own a valve amp (SVT2PRO) and always regretted selling it as the tone was just great. The down side was when it used to have valve problems (expensive) and I had back problems (painful). I bought an Aguilar DB751 and was happy enough for a while but then I started hankering after that valve tone again so I visited the Matamp factory a couple of weeks ago and tried the new GT200. I was blown away! I played it through my GS410 and the warmth of the tone was just tremendous. I had always thought the DB751 to be a great amp (and I've had many compliments about it at gigs) but it just sounded 'dry' and lifeless in comparison to the GT200. I ordered one on the spot and I'm expecting it any day now. Mine will have the new transformers and be fitted with KT120 valves. This should nudge the 'clean output' up to 250 watts or so. I have to say that I found Andrew and Jeff to be the most helpful and well-informed people as well as the most committed to what they do. Can't wait to go over and collect it - the excitement is killing me! I can fully understand why you guys get so excited about Matamp gear.

22. I used to have one of these and I can testify that it is a splendid bass and extremely rare. Difficult to find anything out about them because I could not get ESP to come up with any details in spite of sending them several emails. It is a joy to play and extremely well made. The craftsmanship that has gone into it has to be seen to be believed. The body is two pieces of book-matched ash and that gave it tremendous sustain. The only reason I sold mine was because I have back problems and mine was on the heavy side - even for a jazz bass. Best of luck with the sale. Whoever buys it is getting a first class instrument.
23. Hi. Where are you based? Regards, Pete
