Damn - just checked and the web site says closed on bank holidays
Oh no! Seems like I'm stuffed!

I'm going to be pretty central as is the nature of a day visit, so I'm guessing covent garden ways, although I'll have access to the tube so wherever that isn't too far out really! I should probably add that I'm a lefty too, so that makes basses a little more difficult! I went a few weeks ago and was in Wunjos, can fully attest to them being great guys, gave me some very good advice (advice that even could potentially have cost them a sale!)

Going to the capital for the day with my girlfriend, so naturally, I'm going to want to find a good bass store! I'll only get away with one store before she starts to moan so which would be the best one for me to go to? I would ideally like to play some basses through amps (possibly with effect pedals but not too bothered) with a view to buying online afterward.

The Definitive 'What Sound Does This Brand Typically Give?' Thread
Lew-Bass replied to Lew-Bass's topic in Amps and Cabs
Whether sarcastic anticipation or not, I think this could prove useful to people! I would add but I personally don't have much of a definite idea myself, which is what gave me the idea for this thread -
Obviously this is open to a lot of subjectivity, and different instruments are played through amps/cabs etc. but I was hoping we could all club our opinions together and attempt to come to a consensus on many brands of amplification. The aim is to try to create somewhat of a guide for people to go to when they figure out what sound they want, and want to purchase an amp to match this (to give them an idea of what to test out/if unable to try before buying).
What are the payment options like now? They used to be quite convoluted IIRC...
There's a few, but it seemed fairly straight forward, you just select 'international shipping (EU)' and it adds on to your total, only €24 for shipping apparently

Can anyone shed some light on these? Seem very good basses for the price, and cheap shipping costs too: http://www.bachmusik.com/en/

I find it quite pathetic the lengths people who obviously have their dream instruments from A-C will go to to defend the brand, even in the light of this obvious cock up/screw job. -

Would love this to happen! Such a rarity to get any decent lefty gear up north.. Nottingham would be a good place to meet up I reckon, very central and seems to be a fair few members from there too (oh, and the fact I go to uni in Nottingham might make me a little more bias )
I am one of the lucky few to have had some real one on one time with a 50's lefty P bass, you know what I thought of it? It felt like an old flimsy bass that was as likely to crap out as give you great tone. As with any bass, buy the one your heart yearns for, not what the facts and figures tell you.
It's just so much harder for us lefties though isn't it! Nothing worse than say trying something out upside-down and loving the tone and feel, to find out there is no LH version

That is just beyond shocking, Jimmy Coppollo has portrayed himself as nothing but a shyster. -
Fabulous! I have one just like this, similar age, bridge was a bit hit and miss, the g saddle kept sliding. I put a Badass on it, some EMG's and a J Retro. It's a beast of a bass now.
Steve, if you ever feel the need to sell then be sure to let me know! I seem to recall that you live fairly close to Liverpool?
Yep, good deal and I contacted them and price includes UK delivery.
Nice, seems a good deal indeed. Just need to shift my corvette now but can't see that happening any time soon! I remember a few years ago there being a huge Fender thread where people went into detail about MIJ, MIM, MIA etc. and how good they were during different decades - does anyone know what I'm on about? I've tried to find it, to no avail

Back after a couple of years.. how good is my gear?
Lew-Bass replied to Lew-Bass's topic in Amps and Cabs
sounds like you have a very good set-up to me. plus its never about the gear you have its about the person behind it, i have seen some drummers have a top of the line kit, cymbals and hardware but was no better than a grade 4 drummer i would say, my drummer on the other hand has only just recently got a semi pro level gretsch kit equivalent to a pearl export and has just taken his grade 8 and his 5 theory and is going on to Leeds college of music at the age of 17 and is probably the best drummer i have ever played with. the point behind this story is give a beginner a 3000 pound bass and you have noise but give a seasoned pro a 300 pound Bass and as long as its in tune you will have music. and welcome back its nice to see more bassist.
Brilliantly put and nice story about your drummer, your band must sound sweet!
