1. Ah ok, I see, well I'd still be interested providing you could get the accurate spec. up on here
2. Would be interested if you could post exact model name (so I could google it etc.) and could arrange courier Thanks
3. PM'd you Josh
4. After all this, I've decided that I'm going to buy a head now (s/h for upto/around £170) and a cab/cabs (s/h for around £150 sound reasonable?) in about 2 months time. Thanks for all your help, great to feel welcome
5.
I have a marshall Bass State combo 150 (1 x 15) that is currently for sale, 7 band eq, blend between solid state and valve pre-amp. Been gogged for a year. Versatile tone, good workhorse. I have recently upgraded to a bigger rig and need to sell this now.
Could you explain please? And also, do you have the spec. please, only coming up with covers on google
6.
Ah! You said 'amp' not amp and cabs/combo. You will get something in combo form for your budget but it will need to be used to get anything near powerful enough for your money.
Yeah I'm up for used Sorry about not making it clear bud
7.
I reckon you could do better than that if you don't mind used gear. Ebay often has a reasonable selection of combos that sell for bargain prices because the seller doesn't want to post. So the question is where are you based (and how far can you travel)? Something that is worthy of consideration from the for sale selection at a decent price - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=39669
I don't mind it mate, aslong as the condition is very very good. That Hartke looks good but I'd need cabs to go with it right?
8. I'm not sure the capacity I only know the venues I've seen a Kustom KBA 100 for £200 plus p&p, say I managed to stretch to that, would that be a wise choice? Everywhere else I've seen it has had it priced at on average the £300 mark
9. Can anyone recommend an amp for no more than around £170 that would be ok for small gigs? Are there any? Greatly appreciated
10.
Westfield Warwick copy. Honestly is the dogs bollox for the money. The 4 string is half your budget. It has 2 pickups put the neck on for Precision sound, Front for Jazz or put them both on for the classic Musicman sound. Both have volume so you can blend the sound. It really is great, check it out. I bought another one in a different finish today!
I'll have a look mate, what's the actual model name?
11. Thanks for the info mate, well my budget is only really around £150 so I'm gonna keep looking for combos as I seem a little out of my depth if I tried getting a head and cab! Sorry I couldn't take it off your hands, maybe if you're selling something in the future though
12. As I'm not too in the know with heads and cabs, say I got the 450, how much would it cost for a cab (I'd only ever at the very most use it for small gigs)? Only ever dealt with combos y'see... Thanks
13. Thanks guys! If anyone could recommend a good combo for me to go with the rockbass, I'll have a look for it secondhand
14.
Fair enough then mate but don't think buying a bass that someone else has owned before you means it won't have any sentimental value to yourself. Would you never consider second hand, even if it was a blinding deal? Just out of interest!! I used my Rockbass primarily for the music course I did at college & we were playing a variety of genres etc, did fine for me! Go have a play in a local shop, see what you think.
Thanks for the help and thankyou to everyone else, I think I'm gonna go for it . Yes I would consider second hand aslong as it really was a deal that was too good to refuse, but the main problem is the guarantees on second hand goods, how do you get around it?
15. What's the spec of it? I can't find it on the net :S Also, what damage has it got apart from the staining on the head bit (what actually is that?)
16. Can't afford the Ibanez now after taking a proper look at finances etc. if I need a new amp, so on bassmerchant I've found a Warwick Rockbass Streamer STD 5 with double bucks for £245, in almond sunburst too, which I haven't been able to find on a rockbass streamer til now. I know you're recommending to look for 2nd hand, but when it's the bass itself for me its personal however sad that sounds! Would the bass I've chosen do a job in metal and indie? Also, I've had a look in the sales section but finding it abit hard to make sense of it all, so if anyone could link me to some good combo amps for no more than £165 or around that, then I'd be truely grateful. Thanks alot guys!
17.
That Ibanez seems to always get great reviews. I had a Rockbass 5'er which was great but as Josh has said when you try an actual Warwick it will blow it out of the water. Although with things how they are at present you might be able to pick one up 2nd hand for your budget? LH might be a problem of course though. As for that amp mate personally I've never really been impressed with Behringer. Perhaps again have a look for something second hand for more bang for your buck?
Might sound abit snobbish but I don't really fancy having a second hand bass, wouldn't be that bothered about an amp though. What makes do you recommend? It seems like all the good makes seem to try and rip you off
18.
Not easy being lefty eh?
Not atall , breaks my heart when I see a good bass RH for such a small price! So mate do you reckon going on spec and value, the rockbass would be a better bet than the ibby? Also, it's abit off topic but could you recommend a good amp? I've seen this one, it seems good? http://www.quicksound.co.uk/dpproduct/Behr...1800A_6690.html
19.
had a rockbass streamer in the early days of my playing, pretty nice bass to be honest, but its playability was knocked outta the park when i moved up to an actual warwick. On the other hand the ibby is a great bass in its own right, although I personally found the neck to be a bit too narrow for my liking at the nut. That's personal preference of course though. Like everyone else has said though, no substitute for trying them out first hand!
Thanks for the insight. I noticed you live pretty near me (I'm in Liverpool), do you come up here when you buy your basses? If so do you know where I could go in and try them out, because Dawsons never have any left handed basses in...
20. Thanks for your advice guys, could you give me your opinions on the basses I've identified so far? http://www.thomann.de/gb/warwick_rockbass_...std_4_vw_lh.htm - Within my budget, but would it be a suitable bass for indie? http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/shop/flypage/product_id/36996 - That seems like an absolutely brilliant bass, my (realistic-ish) dream bass. If I could somehow get the money together would it be worth it?
21.
A jazz, p bass, in fact, most basses.
Could you recommend a specific make or model mate?
22. Hello all, it's my first posts on the site. Well, I've been playing bass for around 7 months now and I'm progressing well, and feel it's time I got a new bass. I play mostly metal but I have an opportunity to join a gigging indie band so I will need a new bass that would be good for indie music as well. To make it even more specific, I'm also a lefty! Ideally, my price range would be anything upto around £275, if anyone could recommend a bass that would suit my needs I'd be very grateful! Thanks alot guys and gals
