1. I only paid £800 for it 5 years ago so didn't think 7 was too bad. When I put it up I was expecting 7 and thats what I got, but I thought it was going to someone who was going to use it. Apparantley it was a BC'er who bought it on ebay, so maybe a lesson to keep an eye on the for sale ads? Good luck with the sale anyway Andy
2. Sold my 85 MK on here for £700 last year, appeared on ebay week later and sold for £1100 just a few small blems. Go figure... Andy
3. I have one of these with the same spec. and they are brilliant. £725 isn't just fair Tom, it's a steal on the price of new You must be gutted to part with this mate Andy
4. Sometimes think you're not allowed to own something nice, drive something nice, or go anywhere nice, because theres always some bugger that wants to spoil it for you (and everyone else) people suck sometimes Sorry to hear of your bad news matey, maybe the removal of a few of their fingers everytime they are caught will discourage them. Sadly I know some people who will do this for a small remuneration... Andy
5. Pine dipping fluid is a bit harsh for a bass, it tends to soften any glue in the door joints, so any glued 2/3 piece bodies would be in danger of separating. You could use a cabinet scraper to remove some of the finish (gently!!!) or pop to your local glass merchant and ask him to cut up an off cut (about 100x100mm) wet and dry will take the sharpness off 3 edges and corners to handle it and use the 4th edge as a cabinet scraper. He'll probably give you it for free out of his scrap bin. Andy
6. Iv, got a Yamaha BB605 sat gathering dust if you'd like a borrow for a bit see if 5 strings are your bag? Barely used from new. PM if your interested I'm only 30 miles top side of hull Andy
7. Without trying to hijack the thread I'm following this with great interest, as I'm about to start a build project and am contemplating which pre-amp to go for. Using a single Nordstrand mm5.2 pup Was wondering wether to match it to a Nordstrand pre or go for the ACG Was hoping someone would comment on the Nordstrand Pre's Any takers??? Andy
8.
David Dyke is probably the best source of top quality tonewoods in the UK. http://www.luthierssupplies.co.uk/ he has an online catalog but all orders are by phone. the plus is you often get to speak to the man himself and will cutt to your dimensions if the timber is available. ohters you could try are http://www.tonetechluthiersupplies.co.uk/ http://www.lmii.com/ just as an aside, having recently built an acoustic guitar in cherry I wouldn't feel comfortable with a cherry neck unless it was reinforced. since you are already using a walnut top why not go for a five piece neck with two thin strps of walnut between the cherry
I thought about a five pieceneck and was wondering if I would have enough from the drop top. Should arrive by weekend so... Thanks Andy
9. Thanks Mikey I picked up the walnut drop top from Andy at Prime timbers but at the moment he only has some maccasar ebony, which I didn't think would go with what I have in mind, or he could cut some more walnut, but I think that could be a bit soft for a fingerboard. Andi (longmayyourun) is sorting some wenge for me (top guy) , so I'm now studying the pre-amp thread thats current for a bit of opinion on the electronics. No one has mentioned the nordstrand pre's yet and as I'm using a Nordy mm 5.2 pickup wondering what they are like. (There is far too much choice out there sometimes). Thanks again Andy
If you want a lighter fingerboard, theres tones of maple that would easily be long enough. A sawmill might be able to resaw a fingerboard for you. Try this ebay shop, http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/Prime-Timbers__W0QQ_armrsZ1 If you send him an email, he can resaw something specific to your measurements.
10. There's a price list on the Overwater website entry level perception bolt on starts at £1395 inc VAT Unless they put it up in the last month...
11. I have a 2 year old cavalier, rounded body, short neck, and the headstock is reeeeaaly thick
12. Hi guys Finally starting to get some spare time, so my first complete build is on the cards. It's going to be a 5 string, with a cherry body, walnut drop top, and 3 piece cherry neck, These are all sorted I'm trying for a 2,1/2 octave neck to give me the range of a 6 string, without the bulk. Maybe not as flexible as a 6 but my old hands don't work that well anymore. So I'm struggling to find a fingerboard long enough and wide enough. Open to suggestions on material, but can't find a supplier apart from the US and if there's a prob then it's hassle all the way sorting it. So your combined wisdom is needed please. More details soon, Andy
13. 'Fraid I'm 3 hrs away on opposite coast but if you're this way on you can try my 700rbII Andy
14. Depends who's using it and in what manner. Got to be able to laugh at yourself first. There's bad food everywhere mate, as a tourist you were probably unlucky. Sure the guys will point you in the right direction on your next visit. Right about the beer though, one of the reasons I stay Andy
15. Welcome to basschat mate You'll probably find that us limeys are ok Andy
16. Heck! A Donny lad makes good! Didn't think there was any others, apart from Clarkson, Oh and Diana Rigg and...
17. Recently acquired a Perception 4 standard (entry level bass) and It's excellent. Build quality is 100%, comfortable, not too heavy, looks gorgeous in the flesh, and i'm still learning the array of sounds from the pre-amp. You won't be disappointed I promise. Top company and people, easy to deal with and keep you informed of progress. They have their own page on here Andy
18.
And if anybody can offer any suggestions on how I remove the speaker from the cab, they would be welcomed. I have removed the screws but the bloody thing won't budge. Trying to run a fuel loyalty points club card underneath the edge of the speaker frame results in destroying the card!

19. I recently aquired an overwater Perception, have 2 jazzes, a stingray, 5string Yamaha, and a bitsa, but always seem to pick up my stingray first when i have a practice. Only had the overwater for a short time and haven't had much chance to exercise it's capabilities, but still loosen up with the 'ray. Just pick it up automatically...
20. Alors! Un Homme francais avec le basses grande and stuff. Welcome dans le forum magnifique, mon ami! Andre

25.
Looks interesting. I'm just thinking of swapping out the pups in my USA Jazz from the standard pups currently fitted. I wonder if this might be an alternative. I'm keeping this one passive. Cheers, Steve. p.s. - how are the bairns this morning?
Hi Steve Doing well so far only one hurl still coughing, but not as harsh Joy has had 9 Hrs sleep!!! Thanks matey.
