3. I had to be careful with my GK rig, had ornaments leaping from sideboards when I cranked it up a bit There are plenty of people on here willing to tutor you depending on where you are Deb, start a thread asking for lessons. I'm sure it wouldn't take long to find someone, Andy
4. You could ask on the pink floyd facebook page. Theres alot of hardcore fans on there who could have the answer Andy
5.
Thanks very much for the welcome. I will keep an eye out as I'm so delighted with the ultra gorgeous bass I bought via this forum . I've not picked up a bass for 20 odd years (prev played a double bass) so I'm now well and truly hooked once again. (The practice exercises in the "Teach Yourself" book and DVD are flippin awful!) I've borrowed two amps (a Laney RB3 and an old Fender) so I'm spoiled for choice but want to get something sorted pretty quickly. Many thanks once again
Welcome Deb, I'm wading my way through Scott Devine's video lessons at the moment, receive one a week by email www.scottsbasslessons.com worth a look. Scott is a member on here. ...and the GK combo just adds to the confusion.... Andy
6. At 56 I feel quite young here, puts a spring in the step (actually it's hydraulic ) not been playing that long though, relative newbie. Welcome Stu Andy
7.
Presence:
Are they 2" speakers, where does the 9v duracell go?
8. I don't gig I'm afraid (talent deficiency, but i'm learning) sold most of my GK stuff which was for that purpose, but haven't given up hope! Just want something of decent quality that doesnt take up half the dining room. Andy
9. I usually practice at reasonably quiet volume and then a ten minute thrash with some noise. Live in the middle of nowhere with no neighbours so no issues. Also no need for a headphone jack. Initially I wanted to try the 'Ampeg sound', but with the options i found (+ the suggestions so far) it's getting more and more complicated. I had an old ashdown 50w 110 when I first started and it sounded a bit thin and wheezy so I don't want to go there again. The Hughes and Kettner combo looks nice, but then so does the TC, er and.......
10. I want a combo for home use but with a bit of some thing about it. Not just an 8" 10 watt thing. Would like to try ampeg or orange so I looked on Thomann and am now a bit mesmerised, so some input from you guys woud help a lot. Looked at these... Ampeg http://www.thomann.d..._bass_combo.htm Orange http://www.thomann.d..._pix_100bxt.htm But looking further there's these... Line 6 http://www.thomann.d...n_ld400_pro.htm a lump for little money Hartke http://www.thomann.d...ltd_edition.htm Hughes and Kettner http://www.thomann.d...0_basscombo.htm (eminence goodness) TC electronic http://www.thomann.d...ic_bg500210.htm (this would damage a few windows i think) Ampeg http://www.thomann.d...115_b_stock.htm (a bit over budget, but tubes and neo speaker) Fender http://www.thomann.d..._rumble_350.htm I could go on but would really value some input and any expeience you've had of any of the above. Maybe a poll? Cheers guys Andy
11. Head on hold SBX cabs still available £200 for 410 £175 for 115 £350 for both collected or arrange courier at cost
12.
Someone Buy this !!!!!!! I played last night with my 16 yr old 400RB and its got loads of power and a nice tight sound. The 700RBII is a great improvement over the older models as you can bi amp and also the Contour is adjustable for the perfect amount of mid scoop if needed.
I agree, someone buy this!!
13. Think a lot of their pups are 'Artec' the wiring plans are from them
14. 'Tinning' each part first (putting a blob of solder) makes life easier, you then just heat both together and jobs done Andy
15. and a thumbs up from me. Sounds great, good luck. (agree about the yamaha tho, sounds perfect for the piece) Andy
