1. Forgot to say that the point is that I want to maintain the colour. When cut or sanded the purpleheart is brown then 'blooms' purple as the surface oxidizes. This can fade with age according to the research I've done on google, and I'd like to keep the colour (the bass is now sparkly purple as of yesterday) without too much maintenance. Some of the american 'wood people' websites are recommending using 'Armorall' a car interior spray to protect the colour??? http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_155283_langId_-1_categoryId_165651 Although oils are hard to penetrate the wood and the colour fades, can't find any details of how it lasts with a laquer finish. Help guys please. Andy
2. I've replaced the damaged fingerboard on my project with some purpleheart, which I've never used before. I know with Rosewood it's lemon oil or boiled linseed, and laquer for Maple, but unsure which road to go down. The grain is tight-ish without any deviations from straight. Laquer and paint I have used on the body and neck are acrylic, so don't want any 'confrontations' between nitro laquer. ??? Andy
3. Good news mate, hope there's no damage. Andy

8. Is the laquer 'crazed' because the decal has been changed and nitro on top of acrylic, or t'other way round? Maybe a squier masquerade? Andy
9. Perfectly positioned 'G' string....... (why would I notice that, am I odd, perverted, or just a bloke????) Andy
10. This is a link to alocal Hull based aluminium supplier I used to trade with. http://www.eltheringtongroup.co.uk/ Dont know if they stock the punched grille stuff your looking for, but they have always been helpful and might point you where to go. These are another local ali company but never used them, again they might know a source. http://www.aalco.co.uk/ Andy

Interesting seller too.
Loving that, no spare cash though. and all that tape on the case will add 20 quid to postage. Certainly got some mojo though... Andy
12.
Yeah, I'd love to know what those Artec pups are like, and how big they are (they certainly look right), though chrome surrounds would finsh them off properly.
Aaaarrgh, want chrome surrounds now..... Andy
13. Pickup dimensions, Pup body width across strings 70mm length along strings 31mm depth 18mm + 4mm mounting bracket into surround mounting screw through surround is 30mm long Pup surround width 201mm length 45mm If youre mounting the pup through the surround and a scratch plate the surround is about 2mm thick. That + sratchplate thickness will give you the amount of the mounting screw that penetrates (oo-er!)into the routing. Andy
14. Will let you have dimensions tomorrow, theres a wiring diagram for them on the Artec website. Think they do an MM pup too. Andy
15. Got a pair of these for my project, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400203607145 he also does bridges at a reasonable cost, P+P is combined and discounted. They are chrome , just have poly protecting them in the pic. They're made by Artec. Cant say how good they are yet as they aren't fitted. Axesrus for cheap reasonable quality electrics, and knobs Andy

17. Alternatively, a very small pilot hole and drill halfway from both side with a correct size drill. Andy
18. Pack the underneath of the body onto timber to prevent breakout when you drill through. Andy

20. Bought a set of these http://www.ebay.co.u...me=STRK:null:IT and they didn't arrive after 3 weeks. So I messaged the seller and he sent some more. Both sets arrived within a day of each other (second lot first). So there's a spare set if you would like to go halves on the cost. Inc. postage. If you want them. Put £3.50 in Pudseys collection tin and I'll post them to you. Don't need evidence you've made the donation. Thats between you and your conscience Just PM your address. First come first served. (UK only lets be real about this) Andy
