Headstock is going to match and neck, as it was so badly damaged i've had to fill it. It's a ply body, so at the moment it's- sand fill-sand-fill-sand-primer-sand-fill-etc to eliminate any sign of it. It's an acrylic paint which I haven't used before, always been nitro, so we''ll see. Andy

So I've decided on an outrageous paint as a bit of a 'livener'. It's this in purple. http://www.specialistpaints.com/products/passion-canz Anyone used any of this before?
Love that colour! Spot on Andy...4 piece it is. Certainly gives the grain an 'abstract' dimension. All the best, Mark.
Certainly give you a challenge getting a uniform colour Mark. Keep us posted how it goes. Good luck Andy
-
Couldn't work out how to do it, so I've pasted a copy onto a page of my website! Andy, it's more reply options bottom right, then browse and attach files, then add to post. That looks real nice, although the grain on the strat is a bit more uniform than the kit Mark has. Andy Edit. Just had another look at the kit and I'm not 100% sure it's not a 4 piece body.

Tom has today relieved me of some tuners. A nice easy transaction, glad I could help. Cheers Andy

For a bit of a guide to colour, try rubbing cellulose thinners on a clean cloth on an area where the body is joined to get an idea of the difference. You can get the same effect with water,( a damp clean cloth) but not too much! It will probably raise the grain a little but will dry and sand out. Andy
-
Personally on seeing the body I would go with a paint finish. As the body is three piece you could end up with a three color body. The varying tightness of the grain will probably colour differently. The top piece looks flat sawn while the bottom looks almost quater sawn, with the middle somewhere in between. The flatsawn will be lighter while the quater would be darker. If it's your first project, then wait and see what other advice you get on here before deciding. IMHO Andy

Picked up a replacement badge for my boss's mitsubishi, from hong kong and a kickstand adaptor for his Harley from thailand. Both had good feedback and arrived without incident in excellent condition. Half the UK prices. Reckon the feedback speaks for itself really, just takes time for delivery (around 2 weeks in both cases). Andy

How do you leave a band quietly ?
soopercrip replied to JohnFitzgerald's topic in General Discussion
Honesty? I would guess that the guy with the competetive streak would think youre an @rse for leaving whatever you say and a white lie excuse will only make you feel guilty about it. I would come clean (at least with the guys that count, I agree with Chris2112) and say that you're more interested in what your band is doing and learning a bit from how other bands perform, good or bad, than slating their performance. (and wear carpet slippers, they're pretty quiet) Andy -
Our new single is finally here. A Little Bit Outlaw - Hard to Get!
Interested to see what bridge you put on it
This one (a hipshot copy?)
Ay caramba! that poor nut! You got some work do there there methinks......good luck
In the middle of it at the moment. New fingerboard is fitted (some purple heart I already had) and is about to be radiused. Think that is going to dictate the colour (purple) of the body, which has been 'softened' some. Still waiting for pups/bridge/machine heads to be delivered so I can set out the body before paint. Scratchplate is nearly made (white pearloid) and yes theres a new nut to fit. And the heel has had a reshape Nibody, so has the headstock see what you think shortly. Time to do it is where I'm running short at the mo'. Need as much luck as you can send. Will try and post some pics next week. Andy

If you can get the screw drilled out then drilling a 3/8" hole and gluing in a dowel will give a new fixing surface. Andy Edit: like this http://www.ehow.co.u...-dowel-pin.html but into the neck only cut/sand flush and give it 48 hrs to harden

Anyone got a wiring diagram for an Ibanez Musician?
soopercrip replied to vmaxblues's topic in Bass Guitars
Hi Stuart The Ibanez site is pretty crap for help, but I contacted James Donohue "] who runs a classic Ibby site, for some details on a project bass that never materialized (lost it on ebay) and he was very helpful with a full wiring diagram. Maybe he could help. Andy -
Back Routing... Am I Entering A World Of Pain?
soopercrip replied to discreet's topic in Repairs and Technical
Axesrus do a long shaft pot for this set up rather than a short or medium for pickguard fitting. I would leave a good 3/8" for structural support. Can always remove a bit if pot doesn't fit. Andy -
Back Routing... Am I Entering A World Of Pain?
soopercrip replied to discreet's topic in Repairs and Technical
Don't try to route to much at a time, 1/2" by 1/2" Max, means less stress on the router and an easier cut for you. Andy
