1. A friend of mine has a couple of those tall thin advertising pull ups for his band, and I can't quite decide if it looks naff because of the thoughtless design, (think plain white background and comic sans type font from MS Office), or that it simply betrays their day jobs as office workers trying a bit too hard. Not against then per se, just that that a poor visual ident can have a negative effect. If you can't do it justice then it might be better not to do it at all. If you can't/don't have a backdrop then you could just get the singist to remind the punters of the bands name every few songs.
2. Would you entertain a straight sale? Asking for a friend.
3. Nice slippers Karl
4. Whereabouts are you?
5. Isn't this in the wrong section?
6. Catching up with a topic I posted in a couple of weeks ago, (pre update), and I'm getting little bleeping notifications about '1 new post, go to new post', but there aren't new posts in the thread. I don't know if it's been mentioned earlier in this thread, I haven't read it all obviously. I'm liking the new update overall. Good work. P.S. My avitar has been squashed to fit in the circle. This is an outrage.
7. Sold Kert a natural precision this weekend. A credit to the forum. Thanks mate.
8. How about an unfinished body and a can of this? https://www.manchesterguitartech.co.uk/product/daphne-blue-nitrocellulose-lacquer-aerosol/
9.
Congratulations on uni and the new job, sorry to see you leaving for Bristol Have a bump from me. Shambo knows his stuff when it comes to basses, so a 'bitsa Precision' will be the dogs doodles and Shambo himself is a true gentleman to deal with. Buy with confidence here
Cheers Grae. Hope life's treating you well.
10. Liking the wood grain on that body. I'm a sucker for a simple natural finish. Where do you source your bodies and necks from btw?
11. Another bump. My old bass is still for sale.
12. Gentle nudge. My old bass is up for sale on this forum and I could use the proceeds from this to help buy it back.
13. It's Shoreline Gold... and it's my old bass. Mmmm.
14. Those pictures aren't working for me.
15. Looks nice Grae.
16. The Fender S1 switch was marketed as making your Jazz sound like a P-Bass. It didn't really, but it did have a pleasant sound of its own not wildly dissimilar from a Precision.
17. My lift is back on for the weekend. Looks like it's coming with me.
18. I always hear nice things about Farida basses. If I was closer and in buying mode, I'd be round for a reccy. Not maple finger boarded though... thinking about Anneka Rice must have made you tired. GLWTS.
19. Mine came with the neck, but if I were looking again, I would be stalking the "Other Musically Related Items For Sale" forum, (I still do tbh). Some lovely ones have popped up over the last few months that I nearly bought in preparation for another build.
20. Ah thanks for the kind words guys. Goes to show the nice community we have here on Basschat. Thing is, it's only a thing. Memories of people, places and predicaments are what give inanimate objects sentimental value and, although I brought the thing into being and it is a genuinely nice instrument, I simply haven't had it long enough to become especially attached to it.... now my old Jazz bass, that was a different story. I [s]blubbed like a child [/s]shed a manly tear when I had to sell that to pay the rent. I'm getting signals now that my potential lift to Bristol may be about to go tits up, so this bass is still very definitely for sale.
21. I'm with BRX on this one. I know mp3 quality has gotten better over the years but if you want to start messing with the eq of mp3 tracks, you won't have the source material to mess with, just an outline of it, because the data compression threw away most of what you may want to boost or cut. As an aside, if you're in the market for monitoring headphones, I've had some joy from a company called Superlux who make inexpensive approximations of more esoteric manufacturers equipment (minus the R&D costs) in much the same way Behringer brings equipment to market that look suspiciously like someone elses design but at half the cost.
22. Another gentle bump. About a week before I move.
23. Gentle bank holiday bump
