forgot to post.........got a freebass a month or 2 ago, wired a decent jack and cable. All clear and works great although 2 of the DSP settings are a wee bit noisy. still for £119 I found it miles better than others I have tried. 5 gigs so far and no problems, great reception and great battery life. cheers s
Haven't used one but there is a review of it in this month's BGM

Hi all, decided to part ways with my EB-3. I imported from the US approx. 3 years ago for about £1400 from Warp music shop who dated it to 1969 (dates appear to check out as far as I could check). Rare slot headed version. Great condition for age apart from the softshell case which is a mess. Bridge cover included. Purchased for a past project and ended up too scared to use it live so can't justify keeping it. Cash, looking to get at least £1000 or open to sensible offers. May consider swaps/trades or part exchange for an interesting USA Thunderbird, precision or jazz bass.... get in touch if interested. Happy to email additional pics. regards Stuart
-

i kept mine for gigs where i wouldn't feel safe taking anything of great value still plays and sounds great though. ps a colleague was wearing a pink woolen v neck sweater, blue shirt and a paisley cravat in work today...im no fashion expert but must admit it was rather dashing
Real Men don't play 'em. Bit like wearing pink business shirts to the office.
lol... please elaborate, been a long day if im being slow
I think headless basses might be the bass equivalent of quiche.
wow, looks great...reminds me of the old ibanez axstar headless ...could never part with mine
And I'm in Henley so not far from Oxford (or London) if you fancy trying a Zon like this one: outtoplayjazz has played mine briefly & could maybe give a view compared to a Status
Best place (cheapest) for a Macbook with Logic Studio
moonwarriors replied to Sibob's topic in Recording
agreed ~tl, crucial rock...lucky enough to live close to them also in my case.
Closer to 15% actually – the plastic MacBook is £618 with the student discount and £719 normally. Also, another point on buying from Apple, they seriously overcharge you for RAM upgrades! They currently charge you £90 to upgrade from the standard 2GB in a white MacBook to the max of 4GB. You can buy the same 4GB of memory from Crucial for £40 odd, fit it yourself (it's as easy as removing a screw in the battery bay and popping the new modules in) and then sell the 2GB that came in the machine!
-
this week so far... vengence & notice me by new model army - been meaning to get these sussed for ages!, desperado by alice cooper, stratus by b.colham and beggin by 4 seasons (last 2 for a function type gig...could be worse). cheers

can vouch for the aluminium ones. Dropped mine loads of times, loads of dents and still works solid. If you check ebay you can also find clear heavy duty plastic outer cases. Not personally noticed a lot of difference between usb 2 and firewire ports when using external storage but would have to agree with ~tl on the interface point and on using external HDs... dam unstable if using internal for audio tracks although stable enough if just using midi in my experience. also worth keeping an eye on this site which gives hints and advice on mac release dates i.e. if certain models may be near end of production...nothing worse than buying one and 2 weeks later an updated version comes out ! Guess i look at it in an opposite way must admit I recently bought a modern £800 ish bass because I ended up paranoid about using vintage basses for pub gigs & rehearsals & didn't want to trash them further, know what you mean about shiny new custom ones though.
A related question: Do those of you with really expensive basses actually gig them? I don't think I'd want to take a bass worth £1000+ out to a pub gig. I suppose with vintage gear it's a bit different, because I wouldn't mind if it picked up a few scrapes, but a shiny new quilt-topped thing with matching wood knobs wouldn't look too clever with big dings in it.
