1. I'm currently building my dream rig. It will be set up so it can be used full or a half stack depending on the venue. I'm going run the Buzzard through an Ashdown RPM1 to separate the high's and low's. Put the low's through a TE 300w 1215 combo and run the highs through a Digitech 2120 and into an Ashdown Rack 300 Mag then into a Hartke 4x10. I may add effects to the low end too, but I'll see how I go just running it dry 'cos the high's will have plenty of 'fairy dust' on 'em! That's the full rig, the half rig will be the Mag 300 thru the 2120 and into the Hartke.....
  2. Just noticed 666 views - so up she goes......
  3. Hi y'all. Up for grabs today is my TE 4x10 speaker cab, a great classic piece with green carpeting. It has an adjustable accentuator as well to dial in/out those high frequencies. No pics at the mo but we all know what they look like! It is in fairly good cosmetic condition - a few small tears but it is a real rigid piece of gear and the thing works fine - reason for selling? Fancy a 2x10, but I don't want a trade thanks. I am in Manchester and pick up only - it is fairly weighty, especially with the flightcase. It has 'Terrorvision' sprayed on the back of the cab too. I have no idea what I should ask for it TBH - £175 for the cab and flightcase free - sound good to anyone? Gareth.

  7.
Beautiful mate, from a fellow JAE disciple. however, IIRC John used this model in the 80s, did he not?
Thanks. He used his Exploiter from the mid 70's onward, till the last gig with them at Live Aid.
  8. I have thought about this long and hard and she has to go to a good home. She has been sat in a corner since I got the Status Buzzard and that ain't fair on this quite remarkable instrument. Got her last year from NY. Built in 2003 and I am the only owner. She was based on an Essence, but with a MASSIVE upgrade! Here is the spec: top and back: Flame Maple accents: Purpleheart laminate and Maple pinstripe body: Walnut neck: 5-piece Maple and Purpleheart scale: 34" long fingerboard: Ebony inlays: Mother of Pearl body shape: Exploiter construction: Hollow core electronics: "Signature" volume, pan, filter x2, Q-switch x2, mono outout finish: Polyester gloss body, satin neck tailpiece: Solid brass bird birthday: December 5, 2003 originally made for: Joey G's Music She comes in an Alembic hard case with the various tools needed for adjustments and she is in PERFECT condition - you want the sound of The Ox from the 70's? Here it is! To buy this bass new, to the above specs, would be $9250 + $200 (case) + $150 (shipping) =$9600. This equates to £5844.51. THEN you have to add 20% for import duties and V.A.T (£1168.90) - a grand total of £7013.41 to buy this beast new. I am looking for £2750 for a quick sale and any serious offers will be carefully considered. Payment by cash or bankers draft (item sent after funds cleared of course). Postage and packing is included to UK mainland, but will post to Europe. Here are links to video's (all Who tracks!) I have made with her so you can see and hear her in action. 10.
Here's that dodgy pic of me at the NEC demoing one of the Buzzards - can I point out that I'm no longer involved with E Basses as a business partner (actually I just sanded the body contours - Ian is now doing much better without me!!) and that my head is not that funny a shape - I was `moving' whilst it was being taken!!! Rob Green's head is sticking out above my right elbow! I did like the comment about the stunning display.....!!!
Cool pic Doc!
  11.
Cheers for the info mate! I'm a JE anorak myself, but have always concentrated my affections on his earlier days (the Moon era mostly). Have a few pics of me playing a replica of the Thunderbird-style bass he used at Shepperton Studios, the famous isolated bass tracks one, if you're interested in seeing them. Danny
I actually have an Alembic Exploiter as well Danny. An amazing bass guitar, but to be honest? In it's case since I got the Buzzard! The link below is me playing the 'RAH 5.15' bass solo on it on YT (in one of John's shirts!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hr_eOMEaMio...re=channel_page Would like to see your photo's!
  12.
Can you describe what the circuit layout is, without getting into potential libel?
Lol. A lot of John's Buzzard's had 4 control knobs, one of which was a stacked treble/bass control. Mine is one with five knobs and he got it from Status in 1998. So - there is a volume, mid range (with on/off switch), treble boost/cut, bass boost/cut and a pup pan. The other switch is for the red L.E.D's up the neck. The mid range control can be used as a volume boost or utilised to give a 'wah' effect as in the '5.15' RAH bass solo. www.Buzzardbass.com has lots of really good info on the Buzzard.....
  13.
Superb! I got chance to play one of these on the Status stand back in 2000 AD - in fact Guitarist mag took a pic of me demoing it on the stand (I'd got bleached blonde hair at the time - looked like Heinz Burt!) - Rob and Roger Newell can be seen grinning in the background. Allegedly, Status are not allowed to even mention that they made these (we might have to change the name of the thread to Status B1) due to an injunction that Warwick took out just after John died. Rob had to destroy all the moulds etc. Why this happened I do not know but I think its really sad that it did - the B1 was one of the best basses Rob made - the circuit is incredible. N
You are right, the circuit board on the BUZZARD (sod the injunction!) is overwhelmingly good. Chris Entwistle sold the rights to Warwick so Status could not make them - and to have to destroy all that hard work must have been literally heartbreaking for Rob. He couldn't say much to me but he is happy that one of John's flock made it back to the UK and is being used for purpose rather than being stuck on a HRC wall!
  14.
So is the action as low as everyone says he had it?
Yep, there is almost no action to speak of - especially at the first fret. This is the most incredible instrument I have ever had the fortune of playing - let alone owning!
  15. This is my only Status - A B1 once owned by the man himself. He used it on the AWDAR tour of Japan in 2001 (pur awdar in YT to see him play it) and it was also used for JE band gigs. I run it through a Digitech 2120 then through a TE rig - sounds phenomenal and playability is incredible - the bass is set up as John last set it, never been altered. The flightcase tells a story through it's transit stickers too..... Anyway, pics below....... and if you want to hear it check out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YChy_aSyUlU...re=channel_page MY GENERATION http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oh1B_gj2lWo SUCCESS STORY
  16. Bought a smoke machine and some lights off Simon. Very easy transaction and really well packaged for transit. Cheers Simon!
  17. Hi all. Up for sale is my Warwick Buzzard Ltd Edition Bass. Hans Peter Wilfer confirmed to me that my bass is one of an initial 25-30 made after John Entwistle's untimely death. The serial number is 2003/10 - indicating it is number 10 from 2003. The pictures speak for themselves - the zebrano wood forming the body is outrageously beautiful and the bass is indeed capable of any tone you may require. It is strung with Optima 24 carat gold strings. It also comes fully flightcased. I suspect postage and insurance will be around £60 - £80 Parcelforce, cheaper if insurance not required. I love this bass, but need cash for an imminent buy. £1900 cash/chq/Paypal (add 3%) - which is what I paid for it off Jimijimi. Thanks for looking. The Buzzard was created in by Warwick founder Hans-Peter Wilfer working in close collaboration with John Entwistle. The wild body shape and neck-through design form a distinctive bass guitar that sounds as extreme as it looks. The exotic appeal doesn't stop there. The Zebrano body is complemented by an Ovangkol neck with a Wenge fingerboard, complete with numeric fret markers (actual numbers) custom inlaid of paua. And the headstock is unmistakably unique with its inline tuning heads. The Buzzard Ltd Edition stirs more than just the eyes with its killer pickup configuration. Two pairs of active MEC precision/precision pickups provide ample tonal ranges and nearly infinite possibilities. Controlled by 2-band active MEC electronics, this commemorative bass is sure to play like butter in the hands of any player. It can handle the stresses of deep, thunderous growls yet can pick up the most gentle of nuances and deliver bright, crisp highs. Warwick's Buzzard is a fitting tribute to a truly inspirational bassist that we all miss greatly. Neck-through-design Zebrano body Ovangkol neck Wenge fingerboard Numeric inlays Scale length: 34" (long scale) 26 frets Active MEC P-Style pickups, mirrored Active MEC 2-way electronics Finish: Zebrano Warwick tuners 2-piece Warwick bridge Warwick security locks Gold hardware Brass Just-A-Nut Weight**: 4,7 kg Including Warwick "User Kit" and certificate of authenticity Including "Premium Line Plus" RockBag® for electric bass
