1.
My stuff is priced so well that it's worth the journey from within 200 miles easily to come collect it IMHO.
I can sympathise with you totally as its really hard to move things on at the moment, but you really aren't doing yourself any favours. There's loads of options for couriering, including the network of local shops that will take in parcels (as mentioned by another BC'er above) - I can't remember the name of the service off the top of my head but the Londis near us does it. There's always the Post Office too - you've ruled out asking friends/family or a collection from your workplace already. The thing is, in this climate when spare money is thin on the ground for everyone, how is it any easier or more acceptable (practically or financially) for somebody to travel 200 miles to you for the item? I've got to agree with other posters that you're really limiting your target audience and that as the seller you've got to bend a bit if you want the best chances to shift your stuff. I had an SVT-3 listed on here for ages with no bites, stuck it on my local Gumtree and got a response from a fella in Australia of all places. I was a bit sceptical but he seemed genuine and happy to arrange and pay for his own courier. Had it collected from me at work and it was as easy and hassle free as any deal I've had on BC, certainly made me more open to the idea. I know many of us have had a bad experience of some kind, but nobody really starts threads to say "I sold something and it was simple and uneventful". A cursory glance through the Feedback forum shows that people are constantly having that experience on here. Food for thought? Either way, good luck with the sales, its some lovely gear so it'll be perfect for somebody!
2. I'd echo the comments about playing position - my Sandberg is basically a jazz and I get a huge jump in bottom end from playing around the neck pickup. It's the cheapest solution you'll find!
3. I would be inclined to stick them in front of your rack gear, so Bass -> Pedals -> V-Amp I would always use those pedals in front of my amp rather than in any effects loop, and your V-Amp is simulating the front end of an amp for you. Also, you generally want tone-shaping effects like that to be in front of time-based effect like reverb and delay - you want the echoes/room sound to be applied to your distortion, not for your echoes and reverb tails to be distorted. As an aside - on guitar the wah generally sounds better before all your drive effects, but with bass I've found the reverse is true with bass. Always used my 105Q after any distortion pedals. Of course, personal taste overrides any 'rules' with effects placement, so do what sounds best to you!
4. Wow, there's some lovely gear on show here! Making me miss my rack setup.... Mine used to be (top to bottom) Samson power distribution unit/rack light 1U rack shelf with Sennheiser wireless receiver Korg DTR-1000 tuner Ampeg SVT-3Pro All in a chunky 6U case. Eventually realised that if I was going to have a mute footswitch on the floor for my tuner, I might as well just have a tuner on the floor and save turning round all the time! Between that and abandoning my wireless (did a stint in a 6 piece where there was no space to move on stage without bumping into somebody!) I downsized to a 3U case with just the SVT, and now that's gone too! Still got a 6U case with a 1300w power amp from our old rehearsal PA, might stick a preamp in front of that and go back to making a big rack-et!
5. Ableton Live was my first thought on reading the OP - if you're happy to go for a computer-based setup and don't mind a little bit of learning to get it up and running, it'd be the most flexible solution for you. I know guys who are into electronic music who do full live performances with Live, trigger pads and a keyboard or two so should certainly be able to concoct a setup that suits your needs. Any MIDI foot controller should be able to send the necessary messages - even something cheap and cheerful like the Behringer FCB1010 - can have a bunch of switchable scenes with note on/off and controller messages assignable to each footswitch. Would take a bit of time to set everything up but would think it'd result in a really flexible system.
6.
We start first set with a Proud Mary/Think/Kiss medley
This sounds amazing!
7. Have a bump for a cool pedal - different to the 'Big' Muffs, nice overdrive sound. I have one at the front of my guitar board and use the single mode to drive my other OD pedals harder - these can be easily modded to make the single/double mode footswitchable which makes for a really versatile box. Bargain for 20 notes!
8.
I suspect that we're going to agree to disagree.
I suspect you'll have to agree that you're both coming from different scenarios that require a different application of keyboard sounds. You've stated that electric piano and organ sounds are the bulk of what you use, these are pretty 'universal' sounds that you can get a decent approximation of from a wide variety of keyboards. For a band using synthesisers and generating new sounds rather than emulating existing instruments, the unique character of those sounds is as important as the notes they are playing, and can't be as easily replicated. Keyboard playing is a massively diverse world, with a range of sounds, methods and applications that span from the mundane to the bizarre and everything in between - you two are clearly at different places on that spectrum and both are equally valid. No need to argue about it though!
9. Any interest in working out some kind of trade with a Boss ME-50B? No worries if not, just thought I'd toss it out there!
10. Back to the top - post updated with price drop to £90 and trade options - make me an offer!
11.
Is that a selector switch, then? Or the guitar equivalent of a third nipple?
Both? Pretty sure that's the switch up there - trying to imagine how the hell I'd reach that mid-song. Wait, I've cracked it - by not playing such a hideous mess of a guitar!

ampeg cab

Grille pops off the front, speaker is screwed into the front baffle and all comes off that way. Good luck!
13. This is awful - at least you can take some small solace in the fact that an instrument so unique should be easily identifiable. Here's hoping for its safe and prompt return.
14. I charge 40p/mile for fuel as part of booking out my band bus for anything out of the local area and find that just about covers it for a LWB Transit full of people and gear, although with the most recent price bumps I think I'm actually selling myself short now. In a car with just yourself I wouldn't expect it to cost anywhere near that, mind you.
15. Interesting! I got this: Enthusiasm for music - 98% Musical perception - 99% Emotional connection - 93% Social creativity - 80% Musical curiosity - 99% Bit miffed with some of my results on the rhythm tapping section, I must have slipped into tapping whatever subdivisions grooved the nicest instead of just sticking to the tempo Be interesting to see what the findings are at the end of it all!
16.
We did a 2 hour radio session the other night and they were just left outside in the van by themselves with instructions to text if they needed anything. Certainly not something I'd do with my own daughter.
That is a frankly terrifying level of ignorange/naivety/stupidty/neglect (delete as appropriate). I've been a step parent for three years-ish and recently became a 'proper' parent for the first time - I won't leave our 7 year old in the van while I run in the shop for five minutes. This is a stunning lapse in parental responsibility - do these people think they're still teenagers living out their rockstar dreams? I have taken the missus and kids away for the weekend when we've played a (small, family-friendly) festival and it was great. They loved the adventure of camping out, the festival atmosphere and the many distractions, and they were fussed over and looked after by my bandmates and the various partners and friends that had come along. That kind of thing is great, and the kids loved being made part of the whole experience - coming backstage and helping set our gear up, and getting in the photo pit with their cameras. The world of slogging it out in a Transit van from one dingy club gig to the next is totally different and a wholly inappropriate environment for kids that young to be left unattended. Sounds like these guys have got their priorities all wrong, and I'd be concerned about how long the band can continue while they are essentially neglecting/ignoring the needs of their young'uns to fulfil their own dreams. I still make music, and still hope to make it a career or at least a large part of my life (as do many of us on here who have families) but the well being and stability of the kids surely has to come first? Madness. I'd be looking for my next move if I were you, doesn't sound like something that will last, or that I would want to be involved with in the long term.
17.
I agree. Whoever is in the storage compartments of your house should be sufficiently compact as to not take up too much room.
Love it!
18. I only came on here tonight to sell things and you go waving Telecasters under my nose! You don't want a Boss ME-50B do you
19. Hi guys, Got this cracking Boss multi sitting around going to waste here so time to move it on - got it to dabble but I'm not a big effects user on bass so it's gathering dust in my back room after being plugged in for a mess round a handful of times. Has a tuner, comp/limiter and master EQ as well as the three switchable effects sections - filter/tone, drive/synth and delay/mod. Wide range of sounds covering all the bases from subtle to way out crazy and has an assignable expression pedal that can control various effect parameters, be a wah or whammy pedal or act as a volume pedal (volume mode is always switchable with a toe-push). The unit can work like a set of stomp boxes or with full patch recall and also has aux in and headphone out so handy as a practice tool. As for condition, it's operationally sound with all buttons, switches and jacks working fine. It came to me unboxed and without a PSU. I've never gigged it but the previous owner had it out on tour so it's not in perfect nick. There's some scuffs and scratches to the bottom and edges of the unit and two controls have lost their knobs. There was day-glo gaffa tape stuck to the pedals when I received it (presumably for visibility on stage) which I have removed and cleaned as best I can but there's still some residue visible. Given that these retail at over £200 brand new I'm looking for around [s]£100 [/s]£90 + P&P or collected from Liverpool area. I've got a suitable box and packing material to send it in so postage will be at cost for Royal Mail standard delivery (or whatever service you wish to pay for). I'd also be interested in trades (with cash adjustment where appropriate) for: Pedal Tuner (TU-2/Pitchblack/DT-10 or similar) Reverb pedal Digitech Whammy IV Other guitar pedals - open to offers Small guitar cab (Harley Benton G212 Vintage, Marshall 1936 or similar) Would also consider other bits of guitar/bass/PA gear so if you've got something useful/interesting make me an offer, never know if it's something I'll need! Any questions feel free to drop me a PM or reply in the thread! Cheers, Mike
20. I'll second that - I'm a member over at TDPRI and its the second most useful, friendly forum I've found after BC. Lots of expertise there, and many of my Google searches for non-Tele related guitar questions land me back there anyway, so its my first port of call for 6-string knowledge these days. Somebody on there will surely be able to help you out!
21. I'm another cheapskate with a little Behringer (1002) that has served me well for years now. I use it for monitoring from my computer recording setup at home (happily runs my powered speakers and lets me set up a rudimentary headphone mix when tracking solo performers) and I've also used it to run small PA systems for acoustic gigs or vocal-only PA setups, and to run samples/click tracks when incorporating electronics into live shows. It's short on features but for basic routing of a few input signals it does the job great, and mines bounced from studio to home, practice room and stage without the slightest hint of anything ever going wrong. Bit of a swiss army knife and has well earned the relatively low price I paid for it some years ago.
22.
Thanks for the suggestions guys, the M9 looks quite interesting. Do you know whether anybody makes a Multi-FX which doesn't feature amp modelling and distortions? I'm only considering a multi-fx to cover filter/synth/compression/chorus/modulation etc etc
The M series doesn't feature amp modelling and is designed to be used into a real amp, whereas the Pod stuff has the modellers. I think the M9 is probably the closest thing to what you are looking for. Although it does have distortion effects, there's enough other stuff going on that you can ignore the stuff you don't need and just program patches of what works in your setup.
23. I used to have a similar situation with an Ampeg SVT410 and 15 setup. Offloaded both cabs and replaced it with a single SVT610, worked much better!
24. My Squier P is my go to bass when I'm playing at home, and gets a fair share of gig use too. Have spent so long playing it that it just feels like home!
25. Can't believe "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" is yet to make an appearance here!
