1. Yeah, the ProCell's are spot on, used to swear by them - until work changed for a cheaper supplier. Just means I have to visit the stores cupboard twice as often
2. It's a DPDT - I've had two Hyperdrives and one replacement switch from Ashdown - the pedal sounds great but the parts they're using are cheap and nasty. Get a nice chunky heavy duty switch from somewhere and bust out your soldering iron then enjoy!!
3. Been my go-to for years, and (almost) indestructible - can't go wrong with 'em really.
4. All PM's replied to, thanks for the interest guys! And Nik, fingers crossed!
5. Another skint'un who'll be stuck at home here - but have a cracking night! Last time I was in Mello Mello they had a double bass just lying around the place for anyone who felt like it to have a bash - nice laid back vibe in there. Didn't realise Dry Retch were still going either, I remember seeing them way back in my early days of hitting local gigs. Punk as f*ck. Oh, and just checked out your FB page, nice tunes, and your singer has a spectacular 'do! Enjoy your gig
6. Thanks Nik. I'm gutted to be putting any of my gear up for sale, I've never been one for getting rid of stuff, much prefer accumulating it. The bits that have gone have always been in exchange for more gear! The van has been a nightmare, I've been out teching and tour managing for a couple of bands, just starting to get some regular work together, and the whole thing ground to a halt with a big crack in the engine block! The new van will be up and running soon, but lost a lot of work, time and money on it. Hope you're well mate, thanks for the good luck, I'm about due some
7. Hey guys, As with my other thread in the amp section, I'm having to reluctantly try and offload some gear as my poor van suffered a catastrophic engine failure and has to be replaced. I'm offering up my 1980 Peavey T-40 for sale. It's black/black/maple, with the old-style toaster pickups (not the later blade type) and I had the age confirmed by Peavey when I picked it up a few years ago. It's got a great low action and a fast neck, and is all original and working - no noisy pots/switches or anything. There's a few scuffs and scratches as you would expect with a 30+ year old gigging bass, but nothing major, and it looks great. The switching allows for both humbuckers to be coil-tapped, and for them to be switched in/out of phase for a wide range of tones. Also comes in the tatty but functional Yamaha hard case it was living in when I bought it. This has been adorned with a sticky pass from a Paul McCartney world tour! I'll take some pictures in the practice room this week and get 'em posted sharpish. Looking for offers in the region of £370 for this beast of a bass. I'll buy it back off you once the van's fixed too Mike
8. No worries mate - cheers for the heads up, let me know if you end up in a position to go for it Mike
9. EDIT: previously listed these for sale when my van broke down - I'm now in need of a decent guitar setup, so something has to go to fund it! I'm offering for sale: Ampeg SVT3 Pro Owned from new since Jan '06. Gigged regularly, always been reliable. Two small cosmetic scuffs on front from an altercation with the lid of a Gator rack case on the first day I unpacked it, apart from that it's in pretty good shape. Currently lives in a good solid 3U flightcase which would be included in sale. Great grindy Ampeg tone. OR Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 I've owned this for about two years, lightly gigged. Practically perfect condition and comes with the proper Genz Benz gig bag too (not included with new purchase). Recently fitted with brand new JJ 12AX7 in the preamp. Tiny footprint, ridiculous light weight, 600W into 4 ohms. I'm looking for around £425 for the Ampeg + Flightcase or £380 for the Genz + gig bag, whichever goes first! Will add pics ASAP. Collect from Liverpool or will courier at buyers expense. Mike
10. Got to say, I've never liked the look of SC's at all - they just look all out of proportion to me - but Warwickhunt's Bolin is stunning, love it!
11. Some cracking sets in here, some good suggestions! Pretty new to the covers band thing, we threw a set together at short notice for a family friend, and bagged a few more bookings out of it (Guilty confession: I'm playing lead g***ar) Our current set looks like this (not in this order mind, just as I can reel them off!) Dancing In The Dark - Bruce Springsteen Use Somebody - Kings Of Leon My Girl - Temptations Ring Of Fire - Johnny Cash Ain't No Sunshine - Bill Withers Trouble - Ray Lamontagne Summer Of '69 - Bryan Adams Stand By Me - Ben E King To Love Somebody - The Bee Gees Twist And Shout - The Beatles Stay With Me - The Faces Billie Jean - Michael Jackson Superstition - Stevie Wonder 20th Century Boy - T-Rex Take On Me - A-Ha Living On A Prayer - Bon Jovi Help! - The Beatles Times Like These - Foo Fighters Play That Funky Music - Wild Cherry Easy Like Sunday Morning - The Commodores
12. This is a ridculous price for a 'ray - why are you crazy people not buying it?? Have a bump on me - if I wasn't too broke and already snowed under with basses, I'd be off to the bank asking favours. In fact, if this had a maple neck, I think I'd throw caution to the wind and sell a vital organ or two for it.
13. I've got it massively high on my 'ray - had it set up that way a few years back as I really liked to dig in. Find that with my new band I'm playing more technical stuff and I'm occasionally having to down the Stingray for something a bit more playable, as the fast/tricky stuff just doesn't sound good at all when I'm fighting the action. The Sandberg came with a really low action and plays like butter, but never gave me the problems with clicking and buzzing that the Stingray did, so it stayed that way. I do like it high, but if it works the way it is, then why change it!
14. Always a hard case - I'm pretty much always in the van when gigging and I'd just rather not leave anything to chance. It's simple really, the little bit of extra weight and awkwardness is worth the piece of mind that nothing is going to snap my bass in half! Occasionally use a gig bag if I'm on public transport, and the bitsa basses both live in gig bags (because I'm running out of space for hardcases) but I'd always pick the safe option.
15. No worries mate, cheers for letting me know, good luck with the sale
16. Hey dude, you replacing this with a smaller/lighter head? I'm after replacing my SVT3 and Shuttle 6 with a CL! Thread with the info is here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=139790 Let me know if you fancy it
17. Any interest in trades for something smaller? I'm after replacing my SVT3 and Shuttle 6 with one of these beasts! Thread with the info is here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=139790 Let me know if it takes your fancy
18. Bumpasaurus Rex - anybody want to ditch their big heavy amp to go lightweight, and get a great backup as part of the deal?
19. Have a bump while I go put my kidney on eBay.
20. +1 for electrical tape - I used to use that to keep my transmitter on the strap, a few winds round gave a solid grip, but was easy to take off and didn't leave too much gunk behind. Also managed to do it so that you could still open the battery compartement without undoing the tape. Cheap and cheerful, works a treat
21. Hey folks, Looking to trade in my two lovely amps for an SVT-CL or SVT-AV! Exhibit A is a pretty much mint Genz Benz Shuttle 6, with gig bag. Bought this from its original owner about two years ago, it's been lightly gigged, mostly lived in our rehearsal room. Exhibit B an Ampeg SVT-3 Pro - USA-made and owned from new since Jan 2006. It has two small scuffs on the front panel, received from the clips on the front lid of a Gator rack case on the very first day I owned the amp (Doh!) but is in good nick aside from that. Lives in a 3U flightcase these days, which would be included in any deal. If anybody is interested in taking these two heads in trade for an Ampeg SVT-CL or AV, I'd be happy to make a straight swap. Failing that, if anybody is after a trade+cash for one head, I will try and find a buyer for t'other one to facilitate a deal. I'm in Liverpool but will travel (within reason) in my big-ass van to come do the swap. Alternatively, you can visit me and try the amps out in my rehearsal room. Will throw some pics up if anyone is interested - just let me know! Cheers, Mike

Heard nothing but good things about Edwards stuff in general - have had my eye on some of their 6ers for a long time. Have a free bump on me for a beautiful bit of kit, good luck with the sale!
23. I haven't voted because I think (like most of us) multiple answers apply for me! I know how much I'd like to have to spend on a bass! I could probably tick the first three boxes in each of the other questions - when I've offered trades it's largely been gear that I'm not using at present so I've fancied trying something different. I am doing a lot of skint window shopping at the moment - here and elsewhere. Missed a bargain Peavey Classic 30 for my guitar on e**y last week because the head gasket has blown on my van I think we're all feeling the pinch, but the BC For Sale forum is my first port of call for any bass shopping I have to do.
24. Had a brainwave whilst on the throne this morning (where all man's greatest achievements of thought are born) that may solve this problem, although I want to run it past you better minds first! If the amp is looking for a 4 ohm load, rather than hacking away at the cab, would chaining an 8 ohm dummy load off in place of a second cab satisfy it? That way, the bassist in question gets to keep his cab all original, amp sees a matched load - everybody wins! If there's a staggeringly obvious technical reason why this wouldn't work, please let me know
