  1. I just wish I'd held on to the two bongos I sold for £700 and £750.
  2. Finally! The same formats, but with 5.8GHz and an input jack. Around £500 for the pedal.
  3. The DC7 is the best option for this, it's what I use for my Stomp. I comissioned obbm to make a cable to power the stomp to avoid the 27 adapters that you need otherwise. I know he's retired now but other people will get you the cable I'm sure. Actually IIRC I think Cioks might even make one now.
  4. I'm into nice PCs, and one of the maxims there is to not skimp on the power supply. I've had great unit from Harley Benton, Strymon and Cioks, with my Helix board currently using a DC7 and the Sansamp board currently on an Adam. Both are excellent.
  5. Yes! Appalling! In all seriousness it's a great bit of kit but there's a lot of farting on the low E string. A bass amp it is not. Feed it compressed music from a phone or something and it's surprisingly loud and it sounds great.
  6. If you need switchable drive then I'd hit up the closeout deals on the PSA2.0 on Thomann at the moment. You'd need a DI, but thankfully you can pick one up whilst you're there as well.
  7. Those were the days, right? c. £2400 now. I can sort of handle the petrol and the council tax increases but the bass gear is killing me. And the same. I paid £1300 for a pair of K12.2s including the (at the time free) bags. That's £2000 now.
  8. I've been tempted by Thomann's own stuff once or twice. They do a few active pa cabinets that get there or thereabouts on specs with several forum faves and their prices are amazing. I own several Thomann own-brand products (including a speaker cabinet, the excellent Six Mix) and they tend to be really well received generally. I haven't bought any yet though, because I bought a pair or QSC K12.2, which as you already know, is the real answer here.
  9. I'm surprised it's THAT obvious, I wonder what other factors are at play. However, I/we said as much
  10. Ooof, I bought mine for about £60 new as well, and sold it for like £25 iirc.
  11. Rack tuners are some of the most fun you can have with bass gear for £100 or so. I had a Korg that was brilliant, sat in a rack with my Helix.
  12. As do the Korg pedal tuners. There's the pedaltrain one as well, which is very small.
  13. I drool over this on the regular. Are those humbuckers or single coils?
  14. We've been booked to play a pub since last year. However, Newcastle United did a football thing and it turns out that our 4pm gig yesterday afternoon is going to be right in the middle of the cup final right? So a week or so ago the pub, very professionally, apolgoetically, and understandably, asks us if they can move the gig to a 6:15 ish start (or after extra time, etc), basically aim to keep people in the pub by starting as soon as the match has finished. This is fine, one point of clarification though, for a 6:15 start we'll need to start setting up at 5pm at the latest. Can we set up during the match, soundcheck at 6 then start 615? Yes, no problem, stage area will be clear all afternoon. So, we got there at about 445 and there's no room inside at all, you have to fight through a crowd just to get to the bar. Landlady said she had to put tables on the stage as it was so full. Can we wait around until 6 to setup? Still start at 615? No, that's not possible. Oh well then, set up at 6, start about 8ish then go home at like 11? Yeah, no. So, home by 530.
  15. So interesting I posted it twice.
  16. If the gear is identical in the signal chain after the mic, then the issue is before the mic. Is one singer much louder? Better mic technique? More cogent of where the speakers are whilst they're on their walkabout?
  17. Well the news that they are now worth their weight in cocaine has come as a surprise. I suddenly feel very middle class, looking down on you plebs with your cheap gear. On a serious note though I think you're squeezing a balloon trying to find the perfect set of tops, just buy a sub.
  18. Don't knock the cheap and cheerful, my hard rock band is going on for 12 years with an Alto system!
  19. How many pairs of tops have you been through now Al?
  20. I own a pair of the K12.2 and our band pa was upgraded from 712 to 732. Our drummer owns the 712s (that we used to use as tops) and when we decided we needed more we bought the 732s as a band. I haven't used the 900 series. Assuming that they are roughly equivalent to the 700 series (but probably a little better) then I would say that the QSCs are meaningfully much better than the 912 and very slightly better than the 932, that's certainly the way they sit with the 712 and 732. This is in response to @Pirellithecat asking about use as an FRFR cabinet for bass mind, where the deeper bass extension, dsp presets and better monitor position matter quite a lot. When we needed PA tops we replaced the 712 with the 732, all of the advantages of the QSC didn't matter for that application and the RCFs where cheaper, sounded just as good and matched our subs. EDIT - Also I just checked and I paid £1348 for the pair including the (nicest I've seen) bags. So that's a little over £600 per QSC. Over 50% in 2 years price increase.
  21. Can't recommend the qsc k12.2 enough.
  22. Do 15s inherently produce more bass than 10s? No. The drivers in my earbuds prove that. Can they? Yes, or at least they can produce more bass at louder volumes more easily. The average 15 pa cab has space for a bigger magnet (that can handle more power) in a bigger box that can be tuned lower. It's absolutely true that cone size is not a valid indicator of 'tone', but it's also true that you don't get too many 8" subwoofers at a Metallica arena gig.
  23. I'm all for the smallificiation of gear but there are plenty of people on here who would look at a 2x10" cab and balk that it wouldn't be enough for them as backline. Asking the same amount of speaker (even if they're better drivers supplemented with with horns) to produce the whole band for the whole crowd is expecting a lot from not that much.
  24. Nah man, my Fender P with passive DiMarzios is hotter than my Stingray with a John East. Sad to hear that the newer amp is cleaner. I've got stuff for that, it's old school rock n roll I'm missing.
