I'm looking to downsize and consolidate some gear, mainly because I'm gigging less now and when I do we have full PA support. So to that end: Line 6 Helix Rack + Floor Control Mint condition top-flight modelling unit. Not only has this Helix spent its entire life in a rack but it's had strain relief connectors on every cable (see photos) and it's always been used with a wireless unit and a control pedal, it's barely even been touched! I'm a bass player but obviously this is just as good with guitar. This is the king of the Helix family and has every feature under the sun. Why am I selling it if I rate it so highly? Well because I'm barely tickling the surface of what it can do and so I'm moving it on. Unit is boxed with manuals and I've never used the $99 native deal although I have registered the Helix for the warranty. I even still have the Helix USB key. I'm near Newcastle if anyone wants to come and try it out. I can post it quite happily, message me and we'll work out a courier price. I'm also happy to deliver pretty much anywhere in the North East for petrol money. Lastly, my brother lives in Northallerton so delivering them around that area isn't a problem.  Cash is, as always, preferred but I could be persuaded to trade, let me know what you've got.     I was actually just talking about the OP's name still. Comb filtering is just one issue that can possibly plague mixed cabs. They'll have a different frequency response, different power handling abilities, different phase characteristics (hell, they may actually be totally opposite polarity), different delays, different maximum volumes, different impedance curves and, most of all, they'll sound different. Depending on exactly which cabs one's using it might be that none of them are a problem, it might be that all of them are. Mixing odd cabs is perhaps not the cardinal sin that it's sometimes made out to be here, but I still facepalm when I read some of the things that people know that they know about cabs that simply aren't true. For instance, I don't pretend to know which 4x10" and 1x15" you've got, so I believe what you say about the 15" filling out the low end, but I haven't personally heard a rig yet where that's true. All of the ones I've played the 4x10" has so much more volume that it's actually capable of more maximum bass output, even though it's frequency response is leaner on the low end. I bet good money you'd have gotten even more bass if you'd added another 4x10" instead.

    I did find it funny that the OP's handle is 'Combed'. That's not true. There's lots about speakers that seem counterintuitive, comb filtering is one of them.

    Most amps provide more power into a lower impedance, which is what you get when you add an extra cab. The 208 is something like 125W with its internal speakers and 250W with an 8R extension cab. Watch it with the cabs though, by the sounds of it your band isn't very loud but I really do mean that the amp head (and presumably most extension cabinets) will quite happily play loud, it's the 2x8"s actually in the combo that are the limiting factor. Have you seen these cabs for sale??

    I found the amp head very capable, to the point where it could actually drive my BF midget enough that the internal speakers couldn't keep up. Great combo, wish I hadn't sold mine sometimes.

    That would undoubtedly help your band infinitely more than you buying a helix would. To address you 'divergence issue: with the Helix software on PC you can copy and paste individual blocks. So you can tweak an amp in one preset and then c/p it to other patches. You can c/p blocks using the actual helix too, but I'm not sure I've ever done that between patches.

    I think the floor kemper looks great! I switched to a helix because of the effects. The amps on the kemper really are indistinguishable from the real ones (I profiled a few of mine) but the effects are very basic and the routing within a patch is limited. Amps? Kemper! Versatility? Helix.

    Yeah you're right I think it's very variable, some of mine do and some don't. Either way they're usually not very accurate. OP, you can use an ammeter and a 9v if you really want to know but to be honest even that's not accurate because (even though you can measure precisely) the pedal's draw will change depending on knob settings and playing conditions, duty cycle, blah blah. There's also the indefinable 'is my psu any good?' to think about. I fully believe Strymon when they say the Ojai does 5x500mA. I'm not so sure about the far eastern sellers on ebay selling units for £6 or £7.

    Output of power supply (written on the power supply) - (Current draw of pedal tuner + draw of filter + draw of compressor + draw of valve OD (apparently 150mA) + some taking into account a safety margin and the quality of the power supply) != >0 All of your pedals will have a current draw written on them, but this is usually a totally worst case. This list might help.

    I bought a rack because back then there wasn't a stomp and the rack fit nicely into my 3u Kemper-sized hole. Buying a Helix today though? The Stomp for sure. When I use more than 6 or so blocks in a chain it's usually laziness and wanting everything in one patch. Recently though I've been creating patches that have certain feels 'Pick Rock' or 'Heavy Comp' or song-specific ones. In that case they're not usually more than 6. I'd have a Stomp and do the same thing, just use the internal switches to go up and down. To answer a question in your OP: In the Helices you can have preamp, amp, cab or amp+cab as one block depending on your preference and need.

    I'm ex-Kemper, so I know it doesn't quite suit me and yet I still really want one. That's a cool, futuristic piece of gear right there.

    So, my love affair with DI boxes and preamps is getting slightly out of hand. * Not pictured: a BDDI (at guitarist's house) and the other SB-2 in my Helix's rack. So, while I can't bring myself to part with too many of them, it's time for some to go! SOLD £50 - Zoom B3 A perennial BC favorite, the B3 just does a lot of things really, really well. It has amps, preamps, eqs, effects pedals and all sorts of other stuff that can all be switched with their own footswitch. There's also LOADS of I/O, it's a great solution for gigging or home practice. Boxed, with power supply and manual. SOLD £95 - TC Spectradrive Well, it's the EQ from the TC amp with a Spectracomp added on. I mean, what more could you want? Oh, you want an aux in and a headphone out along with a great DI? Cool, you can have those. Boxed with psu and manual. £75 - Rolls MP-13 Fantastic mic preamp with up to 50dB of clean gain. XLR and 3.5mm input, XLR and TRS output. I've been using it on a board to take mic level DIs from preamp stompboxes and lift that up to line level. It runs from a standard Boss-style 9V psu. £20 - Behringer MIC100 Awesome preamp and DI. TS and XLR in, TRS and XLR output. Great tube DI and can output at either line or mic levels. Come boxed with a power supply. £20 for a DI! £50 - AMT CN-1 Cab sim pedal that I bought but whilst the controls are responsive and variable on guitar they're more subtle on bass and it's not really a pedal for me. As new (aside from velcro) and boxed with manual etc. £100 - Pedaltrain Spark PSU that sits under any pedaltrain board. Some slight scuffing but I have the box, the bracket and the cables. SOLD £30 - TC MojoMojo Industry-standard low-gain overdrive. Good condition (aside from velcro) and boxed. I'm in Woodside, about 10 minutes North-West of Newcastle. Prices include postage.     Hey all, I recently bought this from Delberthot because I broke my G50 receiver and I was in a pickle but that storm (gigging? without a wireless? impossible!) has now passed so my need for this has also passed. It works with pretty much any Line 6 transmitter and it's powered by a standard 9V boss power supply. I'm in Woodside, about 10 minutes North-West of Newcastle.     Ginger Wildheart. Yes, now that I'm 30 and a musician myself I know there's 'better' players or whatever but that's not important. A punk rock band from my hometown that formed in he year that I was born made guitar music cool to 14 year-old me and they're pretty much the reason I picked up an instrument to begin with. I've been lucky enough to meet Ginger once or twice as well.

    Hey all. I have, like, and use a Phonic iSK 8A powered wedge. It's nothing special. It's not my Barefaced FR800, or either of my bands RCF or even Alto gear. But hey, it was £30 on ebay and it consistently allows me to hear vocals over stage din. A lot of my gigs are ampless these days, and sometimes it's even my only source of stage bass (helped by the main FOH subs of course). Recently: fart, boom, splosh. Broken speaker. I don't know what did it. Maybe I overcooked it on a gig. Are there any decent replacement speaker options or is it time to file the whole wedge under 'B'? What do I even need to start making educated guesses? Internal box size is about 19.1 liters, minus driver, port and bracing (so what, 17-18l?) And there are 2 ports with a 50mm diameter and about 8cm deep. The internal amp provides 300W and I totally forgot to look at what the original speaker was. I know I'm going to get lots of 'not worth it' responses and fair enough. Are any of the cheaper speakers on Blue Aran even worth it? Can you get a decent speaker for less than say £40? Probably not. Is there anything I can to save this wedge!?
