  1. He's not for me personally but you can't argue with the fact that he's making a really good living from playing bass (and marketing...). We're all bass players, many here would like to earn that amount of money, be that famous and play full time. It's bad form to charge on top of yearly subscriptions but I'm sure plenty of people will happily pay it. I'm not one of them.
  2. Dude, that's brave.
  3. Is it not just regular trans red?
  4. Gallien Krueger MB Fusion 500 or 800 and a GK Neo 2x12?
  5. Should be fine as long as it's the right combination of switch and cable. Brightonion are the absolute best at anything like this.
  6. 'Tis the way to go! I'm down to about 25kg, and 10kg of that is a massive rack that realistically I don't need. OP just needs a HX Stomp and whatever PA cab is the right size/weight/volume compromise. The Helix even has a few very good Ampeg models.
  7. I find that to be a very...limiting...opinion.
  8. A great pedal, no doubt. Having said that this very forum proves that if you ask 10 bassists what the 'best' compressor is you'll get 47 different answers.
  9. There are currently 4 threads on the front page of this effects forum asking about compressors.
  10. More trade options added, cash offers taken!
  11. I own a belt sander, how much should I take off? 🙂
  12. You spent £50 a cable on patch cables? How many?
  13. A macho 4.5kg. I've now added this to the original post too. 🙂
  14. Gorgeous, don't suppose you're selling it to fund a Stingray?
  15. Not for me, but then this is just a backup board that only really goes to rehearsal rooms and it's not exactly a jam packed board anyway. It might be a different story with a stressed, underrated power supply and a million pedals crammed into a tiny board.
  16. That was a board I quickly threw together for whatever reason and at the time that psu was the only fully isolated one that I had. As you noted, it didn't fit under the metro. I've since bought a smaller psu and I've also found some feet that raise the metro up enough that the hb unit would have fit anyway. The pedaltrain website has a section where you can mock up your board. Those are thomann own brand ones, I've started using van damme flat ones since.
  17. Nah that's how they're supposed to work. I used to exactly the same with my Smoothhound and a few others.

    Compressors

I used to try and do 'complicated' compression on a pedal board. I had a Keely for a bit and also an MXR but I always found myself adjusting continuously. Fine when recording or even using the brilliant comp on my Behringer XR18, but on a pedalboard I always found everything too subtle. The Spectracomp saved me from that, one knob for more or less compression made it much easier to dial in live, I'm such a luddite. The comp on the Spectradive preamp/di is the same IIRC.
  19. I'm confused, do you want bass>pedalboard to be wireless or do you want pedalboard>amp to be wireless?
  20. For sale is a brilliant bass, EBMM Stingray! I've had this for around 8 years now, but the truth is I've got rather too many basses and it's time to thin the herd a bit. As my other Ray is quite heavily modified it makes the most sense to keep that one and let this one go. 2010 USA EBMM Stingray Black 4.5kg Unfinished maple neck/board 2-band eq Dunlop Dual Design Straplocks (originals also included) Black and Black pearl scratchplates included It's a really good looking and sounding bass, with only a few tiny nicks on the very end of the headstock (hence the one really high-contrast photo) I've had the Bass Doc set it up to my specs (which aren't your specs, but I can't help that...) but it does have D'Addario EXL170BT strings on it, a medium-low action, and the both the pickup and the pole pieces are raised towards one end to combat the weak G that single-pickup Rays often suffer from. The bass is completely stock aside from the straplocks, and comes with the original EBMM case that's got a few cosmetic marks but it's barely been used as I tend to use gigbags. The item is located about 10 minutes North of Newcastle. I am willing to ship, or I can deliver throughout the North East. You're more than welcome to come and demo and try before you buy. Ideally looking for cash but I would be interested in either a Flea Jazz G&L M2000 Blue Dingwall NG2 A considerably cheaper P/PJ bass (sunburst/maple is ideal) Sunburst/maple Sire V7 Something modern like a Schecter Pretty much any rare or unusual 4 string bass Shure rackmount GLX system Peavey Tour 700 A tiny micro like a TE Elf Boss GEB7 or similar.
  21. The M80 predates the M81 by about 10 years. They're very different in their ideology: the M81 tries to be very clean and very transparent, it's essentially a DI box with an EQ; the M80 is colourful, characterful and very obvious. I personally prefer the M80, I actually pre-ordered one when it was released, so maybe 12-15 years ago? I actually hate that the colour switch is always on on channel 2, it makes using the second channel a real chore to be honest! Different strokes for different folks, it'll be perfect for what you need.
  22. It does not! Still perfect for your needs though. The colour switch is always on on channel 2, so that's ideal for your slap sound.
  23. You'll notice that my post was similarly non-committal.....
  24. It definitely can do all of those things and do them VERY well. Whether you think it can do them better, or in a smaller footprint, is a matter of debate.
