1. Welll let's not be too hasty here. We need to remember that BC regulars are not representative of bass players at large. We're the ones who are geeky enough to find this place. Having said that, my opinion is that 'the 99%' out there pretty much buy Ashdown or Ampeg, so maybe Darkglass won't sell anything to them either. I recently sold my Kemper because I wanted to go back to something simpler and more analogish. Buttons, knobs, that kind of thing. Now, to be blunt, I have the money. I had a Kemper (and briefly a Helix too on loan that I was evaluating to replace the Kemper with) into one or a pair of FR800s. I happily paid £300 for the GK Plex as it's feature-laden and sounds great. I simply refused to pay £300+ for the Darkglass stuff, it's overpriced not in terms of absolute price but in terms of value for money. The cabs look the same, people pay that for Bergantino, Aguilar, MAS, etc all the time but I doubt they'll pay that kind of coin for a standard, heavy 4x10" with stock drivers simply because it says Darkglass. Mind you, they still sell plenty of the pedals, so I hope they sell the cabs too! Always good to support the little people and help local businesses.
 2. The Countryman Type 85 is (as ever) the answer. Great DI in any situation and it handles something like 3000W in 'speaker' mode, so it'll be safe with any sane bass amp.
 3. Mine too, thanks Alex!
 4. I sold Ian my Barefaced Compact and we were both so happy with the deal that he came back to trade his Dr Bass for my Midget. All in all an excellent guy and a top Basschatter. As an example, when I got a last minute gig and I didn't have a cab he offered to lend me his.
 5. I would like to commit, be good fun.
 6. What kind of price do you think we'd be looking at for a flat pack? I'm sure the answer is a firm 'it depends' but, like, roughly?
 7.
Both hard and head had me giggling like Beavis n Butthead Sorry Shafty
Hehehehe....Shafty'....
 8.
A 33L per driver cab is much too small for the 2510. The ideal volume is 60L per driver, and that's not inclusive of the port.
But if we took a driver out, filled in the gap and then ported it, we'd have a 66l, ported 1x10" cab?
 9. You can get elements of coupling by place the amp against a wall or in a corner. So, on a stand off the floor but in a corner may have more than enough coupling for your application. I solved the problem using a fold up wedge. The cab is on the floor but pointed at my ears. I didn't want to lose the coupling effect (or have to carry!) a proper amp stand.
http://www.ebay.co.u...KsAAOSwtZJY8obJ Simply unbeatable £ for £, just buy it and spend your energy worrying about something else.
Completely agree, I just sold mine as I don't have any passive cabs any more but mine gave me years of trouble-free, great-sounding, service. I'd buy another straight away if I ever had any 'real' cabs again.

 14. All of those inputs should be electronically identical, you can use it any way around. What is it you're trying to do?
 15.
I had 2 Gen 2 Compacts and decided I wanted a single 4 ohm cab. Just fancied a change so I went for the TKS S212 which is very nice. However I am finding it a but heavy (it isn't really, but I'm getting old) so am considering a move back to Barefaced. Quite tempted with the FR800 as my amp is heavy too.

I'm sure the FR800 is a stellar cab but there are many fantastic light weight amps around theses days.
They're not the lightest things in the world (though still bloody light) at 15kg but they are quite deep front to back which makes them harder to carry than you'd expect.
 16.
Why are you using a wireless? Si

If you can still play in time when you cross a 40ft stage then you don't need to worry about latency at all.

The Smooth Hound is a great piece of kit for live work, which I can highly recommend (and 8ms latency is frankly neither here nor there for that - we have much bigger issues if our drummer decides to occasionally go off at express train speeds on a track!) But I'm with Si on this, not sure why you'd use a wireless for recording rather than a decent old fashioned cable (which has next to no latency)?
Indeed, I'm talking about playing live. Thanks for all the responses guys!
 17. Thanks guys, I think I might swap to a wireless with a shorter delay anyway just to make sure...
 18. Bad idea, the sound will be 90 degrees out of phase. *Not a serious post.
 19. See, on the other hand, I always used the 50Hz filter on my QSC. Fantastic amps either way.
 20. Bumping this to see if anyone has any more thoughts. I found it as I'm concerned about my 8ms Smoothhound working with a planned purchase of a "Less than 7ms" GK Plex....
 21.
Me neither until a recent conversation with another BC-er!
What was your conversation? Just curious.... There's a standard 'pro' level of gear such as Ashdown, GK, etc and once you get above that into Barefaced and other boutique stuff, I don't really think that there is a 'better'. Different, sure. But could you look at something like one of Mike Arnopol's designs and say that was any better or worse than something that Greenboy did?
 22. I sold mine to go ampless. And then ended up with a pair of FR800s for, you know, ampness.
 23. Always at least the kick. Not for volume as such, just for feel. Some venues get the snare, a very few awkward or massive rooms get the lot.
 24. Argh, stupid photo bucket! Will re-upload photos asap....
 25.
Hi jack , What is the magnet fix suggested by Leo Fender ?
Show the picture again Howard.... @BassDoc.... Basically, you put science classroom style cylinder magnets on the G pole pieces to make them higher. Edit, ok, so you can't tag members in this forum!
