1. AND SOLD, thanks everyone.
2. Pfft, overpriced Dr Bass clones.
3. An excellent looking board! Why is the microthumpinator so early in the chain, does it do much up there?
4. If you are really, really, really just using this for home use then any 15" speaker will make a sound. Whether it'll make a sound you like, and maximum volume, would be very up in the air.
5.
These are bulletproof - 1200W RMS into 4 Ohms bridged... http://www.ebay.co.u...r-/132232541012
Indeed!
6. I've been eying one of these up on the basis of how immensely impressed I was with their 6.5" combo amp. Can't comment on the Baby Sumo itself, but I can promise that GSS make amazing stuff.
7. Uh-huh, the more this thread goes on the more it just seems like the guitarist needs to practice more!
8. I know you said for these gigs it's a vocal-only PA so that complicates things really. It's a difficult trick to be loud enough to cover the room whilst not being deafening on stage. If your amp was only an onstage monitor then I'd have said go for it. Or, more sensibly, turn down on stage so he can hear you from where he is or set your amp up to fire sideways across the stage. As your amp has to cover the room then all bets are off, maybe try putting your stack in a corner facing 45o across the stage? That way the guitarist should get more of you, but then so will the main vocal mic.... The real answer is to buy him a wedge or an IEM system, but that's not always practical and always expensive. Just try stuff until you fix it, it's only rock n roll.
9. It's biker rally season at the moment so I'm on a generator every other week. I always use a surge protected power supply, no idea if it helps but it makes me feel better! The only problem I've ever had with generator gigs have been where the supplied generator as been too small for the PA and so it's tripped it. Once, I think we got to 7 times in the first set before the sound man saw sense and turned the thing down and disconnected one of the sub stacks. Never hurt the amps on stage though, or the PA amps as far as I know, I think most modern amps have a whole heap of protection so if anything goes wrong with power they'll shut down immediately. Annoying but better than letting themselves get damaged. I wonder if generator power might actually be an argument for those rack mounted power conditioners that don't really seem to do anything?
10. Yeah it's nearly always best to stack them, both for the horizontal dispersion and because it gets the top cab closer to your ears. You might think that putting them either side of the drummer would spread the sound out more. It makes sense, but it's wrong.
11. The other thing to do is check the sold items on ebay. Unfortunately, it's not the million-pound garage item but selling it is miles better than letting it rot. If it's not worth your time to list it see if there's a local music school or charity project who can pass it on to a needy starter musician.
12.
I use a mark bass LMii and a barefaced one ten - bloody loud, sounds great and the whole lot fits in a Cajun bag along with a laptop and an iPad!
You are careful with the hdd and the speaker magnet? Is it an ssd laptop?
13. Quick shot at home before I head out to a biker rally. It'll be the first time I've used the fr800s.
14. Yeah, say what you like about music man, nobody argues that the wheel is anything less than perfect.
15. So, what's the deal with those Trace rackmount preamps???
16.
I really like the truss rod covers on both of my Ibanez guitars. They don't unscrew, they slide to one side to open then back to close. So simple I wonder why it hasn't caught on elsewhere! I love also that a couple of my basses use rare earth magnets to hold the battery compartment covers on. No screws to drop and lose in a darkened venue!
Modern crap, they don't sound the same those magnets. Not enough heft. Give me heavy duty ceramic magnets any day.
17. So many nibbles but no bites as of yet!
18. Because the guy who runs the company is proper tool. Buy one second hand if you like them.
19. Hit them with plenty of input volume. I always struggled with my sensitively set up, finger plucked Stingray, never with my modded p bass strung with rounds and played hard with a pick.
20. NOW £600 Hey kids, Continuing the great 2017 clear out I am selling my EUB. I'll be honest, I haven't had it long as I upgraded from my Stagg to this a while back but it seems that I still don't really play EUB no matter how nice it is. It's in very good condition apart from a tiny amount of checking on the very bottom below the bridge. I don't really know what I can about these basses as they're very well know and very highly thought of. I think the price is reflective of previous ones that have sold here, mine includes the bag and a nice bow too. The bass is located about 10 minutes from the Metrocentre by Newcastle and you'd be more than welcome to come and try the bass. I'd also be willing to deliver in the local area if needed. Shipping is included in the price, talk to me if you can pay cash on collection. In terms of trades I am really looking for a Behringer XR18 or similar... Or anything else, try me! Pictures not the best for the moment, I'll get nicer ones up asap.
21. Price drop, save me from ebay!
22. Price drop, save me from ebay fees!
23.
Really tempted by this! However, perplexed by the fact that there are seperate outputs for the drive and deep channels, and no way to blend them? Am I being stupid and is there a simple way around this?
Stupidly, you can set an internal jumper to blend them. Requires taking the unit apart though.
