1.
Leaning toward the GK range
You should. The 1001-II I owned was an absolute beast in terms of sheer output. Kinda miss it, but I love the MBF.
2.
I can't think of a bass cab I'd take on a scooter though!
Barefaced Midget, EA Wizzy, pretty much any 1x10" and lots of 1x12"s would all pretty easily fit on either the pillion strapped down or in a large backpack surely? Then there's the floor for the effect pedals! :-)
Yep. We are on 2 cars at the mo but when the older one dies, we won't replace it. I work at home anyway. Costs of one car are £400 insurance, £260 tax ish, and say £200 upwards per year on maintenance, minimum. Obviously this exclude fuel and depreciation, but I won't included depreciation as the cars in question are 11 and 7 years old, so most of that cost is gone already. I used my car once last week, for a 2 mile journey to my luthier and back. It's a luxury we don't need. For my 2 gigs in the last week I've got lifts in vans both times (city centre so easier). To be honest I can always get a lift to any gig due to where we all live and now I don't carry the PA it is easier. Only becomes a bit of an issue if I am on drums, due to size of gear. In any case, we would always have one car in the household, or I could hire one. There, I'm sold. Think I'll get rid while it's still worth a bit.
Fair enough, to be honest I'd quite like to be in that position. Unfortunately I live 15 miles away from work which would be a 15 min walk, a bus, a train and then another bus. Or £20 in a taxi. I couldn't live without my Navara, even if I only used it to commute then once or so a week I actually have to drive to work. Never mind that it makes shopping easier, road trips, holidays, gigs.
3. I wonder how many taxi rides you'd get for the price of running a 125cc scooter on a CBT? Personal freedom and mobility is a fantastic thing. I live in the countryside and drive a truck but even if I lived somewhere where I couldn't have a car I'd have a scooter.
4. New? Yes. And I have one that I bought new. Used, just wait for a good one at a good price and it'll be worth every penny.
5. I'm at the point now where I wouldn't own a cab without one.
6. Yes, but it's an MXR M80 preamp pedal. I have used the dry out to feed either a tuner or another band's rig on several occasions.
7. Mixer. Get a decent one and you'll find a whole host of uses.
8. +1 for brightonion, though I do find their jacks a little big. Cables fit loose but there's never dropout.

There's probably nothing in it in terms of the signal at those power levels, but your safety and convenience points are just as valid at any power level. Friends don't let friends use jacks.
10. From my limited experience with those cabs and from what I read online when I was looking at a rig upgrade: the 2x10s are a little louder and the 1x12s are a little smaller and lighter. Yous picks yous poisons.

Gojira Pedals.

Is there a product list anywhere? I'm fancying a boost and a mild OD.
12. Whilst Lurksalot's Warwick Rig may not be anywhere near you, it demonstrates the sheer amount and quality of rig you can find your budget. I'd certainly recommend a decent 300-500W amp with a medium-large format cab like a decent 4x10" or a 2x12". If you have a look on here, gumtree or ebay and find something you think you like then feel free to ask us if it's any good.
13. Or you could look at it that the very mid-focused Stingray would be one of the few basses that would balance that amp out nicely. What do you want a new amp to do that yours doesn't?
14. Rickenbackers and USA Fenders. Paying custom shop, small company, hand-built money for mass-produced basses. My Fender sees more use in my band, and it's not a bad instrument by any standards, but new there's only a few hundred pounds in the price between that and my Stingray which is twice the bass in terms of materials, fit and finish.
15. I've got £150 or so, but if I was to go with a separate dac I'd need to share that between the dac and the mixer.
16. Hey guys, first of all I couldn't decided if this belonged here or in 'Misc Gear' so sorry if it's wrong and please do move it if necessary, mods. I currently have a small Soundcraft Compact 4 that I use with my pc. I use it for playing along to music and youtube videos, with both the pc and my bass pedalboard plugged in and with headphones. What I would like to do is swap it for a usb mixer that uses a digital connection to do the back and forwards between the pc and mixer. This is because the onboard sound on my pc isn't brilliant and I'd like to use the mixer essentially as a DAC. Generally, even if I'm not playing bass I'm using the mixer to listen to music so I'd love a decent sound. Would the mixer give decent sound quality? Which mixers are y'all using? I'm looking at the Peavey PV 6 USB at the moment, can anyone offer an improvement for a similar price? Thanks, Jack
17. I've had a Deepressor for about a year or so and I really, really like it. I bought it from Thomann. Good pedals but, as has been said, lousy enclosure.
18.
With a Y cable the amp will "see" 4ohms if using two 8 ohm cabs. Sorted. That's my plan with the MB200.
Honestly, don't bother. Just go from the amp to cab 1, then from cab 1 cab 2. See the bit about 'MESA Cabinet Parallel Outputs'.
19.
The 500 is more versatile in that you can connect two cabs.
You can definitely connect two cabs to the 200 as well, you just have to have a cab with 2 parallel inputs.
20. You can refinish it, just as long as it's done by a professional. :-)
21. Yeah, hence the 'if you're that desperate' part. Wireless it is then!
22. James if it helps at all, the compact + midget is the best set up I've ever had the pleasure of using. Of course, I never use it as either cab covers pretty much any gig I do by themselves.
23. If you really need more bass then feel free to stick your cabinet right in a corner. However like others have said I don't think that's your problem. Generally if you really cant fix it with eq, then it's the room and you're just weeing in the wind. Get a wireless or a long cable and see how it sounds elsewhere. Hell, just get your guitarist to play your bass whilst you do a walk for a bit if you're that desperate. Bet you it sounds better than you think out front. Failing that, man up. Some rooms just suck for bassists! :-P
24. Seems a bit easier to plug the cab into the combo surely? Yes, it's as simple as plugging that short cable into your head though. Obviously, for this the combo doesn't need to be turned on. You can make extension cables easily, however you admitted you are not technically minded so may I suggest http://bassic-bits.co.uk ? What you need isn't listed, but I bet you obbm would happily make you one at an extremely good price.
25.
Do you mean the classic p-bass split coil pickup?
I did. It seems however that the OP is very happy with the inherent sound of his bass now that he has his pickup heights sorted. Ps will never be the bassiest basses around (well, not a 'standard' passive Fendery type one anyway) but they are just perfect for pretty much most things. Pleased you're happy jonsmith.
