1. Where can I buy the Visual Sound units in the UK? I see a few combo packs available from the states on ebay, but I'd really prefer a UK based seller. HotRox has them, but Firefox tells me that the connection is untrusted. False positive on Firefox's part? Are they genuine?
2.
Thanks Andy, Looks lovely but alas i have the hands of a girl. Cheers
You should give her those back. These cabs usually sell right away, and they should because they're blinkin' amazing. Good luck mate.
3.
Waiting for someone to mention a certain cab manufacturer beginning with B...
Not me, Behringer are rubbish. I never got on so great with the Ashdown cabs, though I love the heads. GK do brilliant cabs in their neo or RBH range, and though I've never owned, I've used and liked the Aggie and Ampeg 4x10"s.
4. I'm sorry, you lost me at 'Musicman???'. To which the answer is clearly 'yes'.
5. Hey GuitarJong, unfortunately I sold it but it was to a basschater, it may still be kicking around on here.
6. Still looking forward to the possibility of getting one and gigging with it but I totally understand that you're a busy man.
7. If you'd post, I'd be interested I think.
8. No one? Was hoping to avoid ebay! Someone make me an offer?
9. Hah! Whoops, was so keen not to post this in 'basses' that I put in in the wrong 'other instruments'. Thanks pete.
10. Hello folks, For sale I have a rather special Epiphone Les Paul. Made in Korea, this came out of the (superior ) Unsung plant in March 1999 and she was guitar number 3000. The guitar plays perfectly, wonderfully even, We got this a while back and never really played it, so much so that I noticed a small crack in the pickgaurd when I got it out to take the photos and a quick investigation revealed that the 'crack' was actually the protective plastic that was still on after 13 years. There is one small knock on the back, hasn't gone through the clearcoat, more of dent than a scratch. I totally forgot to get a photo, will do asap. I'm in Chester-le-Street, about halfway between Newcastle and Durham if you want to collect. I'd prefer that but I'll post at your expense too if you'd prefer. I can even deliver or meet up if it's reasonable, just message me. The £250 asking price is open to offers and includes a non-descript, slightly tatty but perfectly usable hardcase. That is lined with purple velour. What more could you want? Note - I'm not an Epiphone, or even a guitar, expert but I understand there is a much later model that is nearly identical but with coil-tap pickups. This is the 1999 and does not feature coil taps. Some cool Asian playing one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDzp-R4zAFU&feature=related Photos of mine: (That really don't do it justice)
11. I've gigged with a pair of GK Neo 1x12s and that was a great set up. Two smaller cabinets are an order of magnitude easier to fit into your car than one big one, even if they take up the same volume. I know they get recommended to death, but Barefaced may have your answer, have you thought about a Compact?

I know you said you lack patience but I'd certainly wait for a second hand bargain. I just sold a Hartke 4x10" on here for £70. The would leave loads for a decent head. If you insist on small combos for house practice (and fair play, most of us have at some point), get one with an extension speaker socket. Use the combo for now in the house and if you do it right you can just buy a second hand cab when it comes time to gig and plug it in.
13. I had that exact debate. Actually I'm still having it and probably always will! I ended up with the Fusion. I occasionally miss the brittle top end grind. But I know I'd miss the thick gooey grind more if I'd have plumped for the standard MB heads.
14. Ashdown MAGs are all very giggable. If you say you don't have a car how are you moving any of this? A Scout would be fine in a taxi for instance whereas a MAG wouldn't. And neither would really work on the bus.
15. My advice would be a GK Backline 600 and whatever cab tickles your pickle. Having said that, I don't think there's been a suggestion so far that I don't agree with.
16. One of the best bass sounds I've ever heard live turned out to be an Ashdown Electric Blue combo. What are those things? About 1x12" and about 150W IIRC? It depends on the mix, the volume, the other players and everything. I stand by the general idea that a rock gig needs around 300W and a 4x10" because that will cover the average rock gig. Having said that I regularly show up with either a 65W 1x10" combo or just a DI box because I know I have PA support or the use of a house amp or whatever. If you KNOW your gig is not average or you just need less for whatever reason then good for you. Still doesn't mean we can recommend that a beginner who needs our advice can gig with a small combo. To do so is to give bad advice IMHO.
17. Certainly is mate, did me perfectly thank you! Bump for pictures!
18. This thread is over 2 months old, have you bought anything yet? (Just 'cos I have a great 4x10" for sale................)
19. Yeah in general the heads will be just fine but you'll really want a dedicated bass cab.
20. It's not really loud at all but the amp is also my home practice amp if I'm not using headphones. I'm a computing enthusiast and I'm currently 2 feet away from a huge metal box with 3 140mm fans, 2 120mm fans and a 180mm fan. Id guess the GK was easily twice as loud, and at a much more annoying frequency (likely because of the amp's fan's smaller diameter).
21. The fan in my GK is annoying, has anyone replaced the fan in the MB Fusion?
22. Hello folks, due to incoming Barefaced action my current gigging cab and home practice amp are for sale. I'm based in Chester-le-Street, near Durham and Newcastle. Picking up is encouraged, as is paying with cash. For the right circumstances I'm happy to post or deliver and Paypal gift or bank transfer are cool too. EDIT - I would certainly be up for trades. I'm really looking at a cheap, giggable cabinet to leave in my rehearsal room. Peavey 4x10"? That Marshall 2x15" that's on here for cheap, pretty much anything that can be heard in a band room. Size/weight unimportant as long as it fits in my car for transport. Really wish I'd kept that damned Hartke! Will add cash to the Laney if that's what it takes. Laney R1 - £50 Pretty damn amazing little amp here. 65W, 1x10" speaker + hf. Normal/High inputs, compressor, 3-band eq with parametric mid and enhance control. DI, headphone and tuner outputs plus an effects loop. I always think it's small but perfectly formed and certainly I've never found it lacking in features or even volume (within reason of course). Perfect condition. To be honest I'm considering keeping this and I don't think there'll be much interest anyway but I thought I'd try. Hartke Transporter T410 - £70 - SOLD - Although now I'm wishing I hadn't, as a I have need for a cabinet just like it! Picked this up as a temporary cabinet whilst I was in between rigs but was actually incredibly surprised. It's a 4x10", which is means its pretty big and pretty loud. Sound is reasonably bright and mid-focused to my ear, but I hate trying to describe that kind of stuff online. What is definite is that this one has a few cosmetic marks from it's previous owners. NOTHING that affects the way the cabinet works at all. The cab also comes with 4 heavy duty casters and a cover that's had a pretty heavy relicing job. Despite the added value of said relic I'm throwing both it and the casters in with the cabinet. Bad points? Apart from the aforementioned tattyness the top-right speaker (when facing the cabinet) has been replaced with an identical Behringer driver. I've used one or two of these cabinets in my time and if the Behringer driver has changed the sound at all I can't tell. Hell, we all know Behringer steal other people's designs, it's probably the same exact speaker! From the Hartke site:

Four Hartke 10" TP Aluminum-Cone Bass Drivers
Power Handling: 300 Watts @ 8 Ohms
Frequency Response: 40 Hz To 4 kHz
Sensitivity: 96 dB @ 1 W/1 M
Dimensions: 24"(H) X 24"(W) X 15"(D)
Weight: 65 lb. 23. I have a compact but no midget. I've been told 'hopefully by the end of next week' which would make it a definite 11 weeks for the compact and estimated 12-13 for the midget.
24. Before I bought an amp with a tube pre I gave some serious thought to a Darkglass B7K.
25. I briefly had and loved the BA500h. There's a few threads on here about them including a review that I did and a general thread on promethean clones.
