I bought this. It arrived the other day beautifully packaged. This bass is exacly what Si said it was. It's a very "together" instrument..... feels just lovely. Plays and sounds like a good P should, with that added "something" that you don't get with a new instument. Gigged with it last night and even though it was bought as a back up, I can see it getting some serious action! Very light too, which is is important when your playing a 2.5 hour set! I'm chuffed. Thanks Si!

Nice to record with too!

Hey folks. Just thought I'd post a snap of my practice rig. It's all too old and beautiful to take out to gigs, much as I'd love to. The bassman is a 63 (as far as I know) and the precision is a 73. Enjoy!

Just wanted to post something here in praise of Oldgit.... He has gone far above and beyond the call of duty with all the help he gave on my bands website. It's gone from "okay" to "pretty good if I do say so myself". And, most importantly, I'm quite sure all this help has resulted in an increase in bookings for The Panoramics (my band). I still can't understand where he gets all the spare time for his charitable contributions, but by now he must have amassed a huge reserve of good karma.... your definitely going to heaven Si! Some day I hope to be able to pay him back in some way, because honestly it is so rare to come across a stranger on the internet (or in real life) who is willing to go out of their way to help out of the goodness of their own heart. He offers top quality advice, no doubt which is worth a pretty penny if I'd been looking for someone's professional services. And have no doubt, Oldgit is definitely a professional when it comes to website usability. He knows his stuff. I hope this doesn't come across too gushy, but if anyone out there gets a chance to work with or is offered help by Si (Oldgit), bite his hand off. Just in-case your interested seeing the site all the work was done on, its this one: www.thepanoramics.com Thanks Jesse
to the top
Nice cab! Shame to divorce it from it's amplifier partener though no? I'm very much enjoying that gs112 you sold me a while back. Using 2 of them and it's fabulous. I can vouch for this seller everyone, he's great to deal with. Jesse

STEINBERGER XL-5W ('Wide 5') RARER THAN A VERY RARE THING!
Eighty-odd views and no comments? I'd welcome your observations (with the exception of "too many strings" or "too much money" obviously...) :-)
I think it's sweet. Not what I'm looking for myself, but I'm sure someone out there will want it. -
Agreed! Great prices, but the cost of shipping from the Republic may well be deterring potential customers.... Just a thought.
Yep I really must get my act together and find a reasonably priced way of shipping to the Uk. They're not that heavy really. Just quite big.

I can recommend the markbass as the ultimate practice/small gigs amp. It don't come cheap though. If your playing at low volumes, like coffee house or jazz type gigs, it should do the biz volume wise for you. For louder drumming and stuff you'll need an extension cab, with which it works very well. Very easy to carry, and can double as a very small p.a. for parties and stuff.... just plug your ipod in, mess with the filters a bit and bobs yer auntie! Pretty cool. Had to sell mine but wouldn't mind another some day.
I second leaving it alone. If you're going to buy a new neck and pickup, you may as well get a body while you're at it and end up with a new bass!
If the body is nice and light, it might be worth keeping the body. Cant help but feel it's a bit of a shame to refinish the body. Id say it will effect the value in a downwards fashion.... So you cant sell it, but you don't want to play it as it is..... Can you get the neck re-fretted?
