Hi Paul I only have the lightweight - you can adjust the mid frequency inside the back compartment. other than that - I think the spec is clear on the xotic website cheers

All the time. Not for everything - it doesn’t do some things I need, but it does some things super well. Love it,

I think you mean this one, Si:)

Hi Fatwull I'm interested in your bass. Obviously I'm not in here very much and I'm based in London, but I'm a pro and a bunch of people know me. My websites on my profile. If we can find a way to trade/meet/send etc, are you interested? Ideally I'd like to try it, having only played one similar, but that may prove impractical... Cheers Gareth

One Bernie Goodfellow brown/tobacco sunburst 5 string sadly available, along with a Profundo 4 string double bass which is very nice but not suitable for what I need. The Spitfire was made for me by Bernie about 15 years ago; I used it all the time, then changed to a Stingray 5 for various reasons, then tweaked the Spitfire by putting in a Seymour Duncan replacement circuit which did good things (pan, push/pullbass boost vol, treble, concentric mid+bass). The neck is fantastic, two octaves on G/D/A, but I'm not happy with the pickup/playing position and rather than butcher the bass and have to put a scratch plate on it, I'm going to let it go. I rang Bernie to ask his permission too...so you can take it to him without fear of embarrassment. Bass Gallery rough estimate of value a little while ago was £1200; this despite some typical damage around the jack socket area from having a bad case, sorry (replaced some years ago!). Offers in the region of that, but obviously I'm not a shop and wont need to pay a commission unless it ends up hanging on their wall with a "for sale" sticker. The Profundo is the carved-edge one, retails around £3350 I think, not many around, 4 years old now and very much left to languish in a corner (it was always going to be a spare) whilst I play my 5 string (upright). Its in fine condition, but needs playing and (according to my guy) probably setting up to suit the player. Strange pricing one of these - if you could get one new (they've only made 8 so far I think) it would cost as above - so I think the secondhand value is (counter-intuitively for double basses) a little less. I guess I'm looking for £2850. If anyone's interested, I've also got a Hartke 2x10 transporter cab which needs re-coning or something else putting into it. I replaced it with an EBS 2x10, so its just taking up space... cheers

Hi Daf not in the market for a new bass... However, that's no reason not to think about these things. I've got a Stentor Profundo (hand-carved, correct timbers, 4 string, low action - mainly because it needs setting up properly and playing) sitting in a shop out of sight and out of mind...I bought it as a spare but use a 5 string NS instead when I need to would you consider a swap plus cash as an option? just playing with ideas... cheers Gareth

I bought one of these. I prefer the way it makes the bass hang. IMO, it doesnt look stupid, it just looks a bit different. If you're playing a bass so that you can play it, they generally look "jazz" anyway - i.e. if you have the bass round your knees you can only play with one LH finger and a pick:) Adjustment is the same as anything - you need to spend a moment getting it right. And - you can use it as a single strap if you like; its completely flexible (just leave it poppered up) I just hope they start making one in neoprene; that would be perfect... Thoroughly recommended; its much better for your posture (even if you dont have problems) and its only £15.

Hi all I'm a professional bassist from London. I have a cold, so am feeling somewhat grumpy, but hello anyway. My main electric is a stingray5 with Ebs kit (and a mark bass little mark 250 for when I'm feeling lazy, which is quite a lot at the moment), and I also play double bass; I have a nice 5 string German circa 1850. Otherwise, I have a Nightingale 5 string fretless (thats a Bernie Goodfellow pre-rumour Rumour, for those of you who knew him that far back), a GB Spitfire (5string), an NS 5 string, and Egmond 4 string funky beast that Bernie is currently fixing and a Yamaha TRB1006 which I think I'm going to sell as the 35" is too much for my diddy hands. Oh, and a spare chinese upright 4 string which is very nice but never ever gets played. Other than that, I'm pretty restrained on the bass owning front. Except I'm looking for a small travel bass, like a hohner B2AV. I also just came across the Ministar Basstar 5 - anyone tried one? And I'd like to get hold of a Myung 6 string - the second one (RBXJM2). cheers for now Gareth
