1.
I would have to disagree ...
Well, fair enough. My experience was in 2011 so maybe things have changed.
 2.
... the guitarist in my band constantly sounds SH*T ...
So why are you still playing with him? Are you making loads of money?
 3. I expect nobody fears dropping lots of picks. The point is to access a fresh pick very easily
 4. In my experience a Thomann setup is not enough. They will fit the strings you want but the bass arrives with the bridge unattached and strings fitted only loosely. You'll need a proper setup - allow about £100.
 5. Some amps are switchable for voltage but some require a transformer. When you look at the dream price don't forget to add shipping and then add another 25-30% for customs duty plus VAT plus handling charge.
 6. Youtube sound quality but still ...

 9.
Cheers essentialtension! Jack Casady rocked the guild! I'm gonna go to wunjo see if they have single coil, would suit my preference. Although would you say his tone in white rabbit was humbucker?
White Rabbit predates the Guild and was Casady's Jazz bass with a Precision humbucker at the neck ...
FlyGuitars So when you first joined Jefferson Airplane you were using Fender basses? Jack Casady Yeah the first three albums are recorded with a Fender Jazz bass, and I customised that by adding a P pickup right butted up against the neck. So in essence I had on the very bassy end of the speaking length of the string an offset P pickup and then two bar pickups of the Jazz bass. 10.
Ok guys, if i were to chuck a Jack Casady epiphone into the mix What would you say?
You need to try one. It's based on a Gibson Les Paul Signature bass - long 34" scale, low impedance pickup, varitone switch.
 11. Get a passive fretless Fender and put on John East Retro preamp in it. Sorted.
 12. 2010 reissue with new Bisonic single coils ..
 13. 1960s with Hagstrom Bisonic single coils ..
 14. 1970s and 1990s reissue with De Armond Gold Tone humbuckers ...
 15.
I bought my Guild Starfire in the early 80s. It was a 70s model, black and had twin pickups and they were definitely humbuckers, which is one of the things I didn't like about it. The new ones have single coils.
Ah yes, 1960s was single coils, 1970s was humbuckers, 1990s reissue was humbuckers, 2010s reissue is single coils.
 16. No substitute for trying them and deciding for yourself.
 17.
Thanks for the replies folks The Coronado body is someone elses unfinished project, bare wood and is only routed for neck and the f holes are done, so its a blank canvas......the neck pocket and the EB-0 neck are the same dimensions so the neck should fit, perhaps with a little fettling, then its a matter of locating the bridge at the EB-0 scale length, which I will measure on the neck donor.....rout for the pickup, drill for the wiring and pots etc and paint, if the poles on the EB-0 pickup are far enough apart to go for the MM position then thats where it will go, if not it will be centred on the 24th fret location as it was on the donor...... I've built several partscaster guitars so am fairly confident its achievable....... Paul
Sounds good. Good luck with it. We will need to see pics of the progress please.
 18.
Ellio Martina isn't out of business, he lives 5 minutes from my house, but I doubt he knows how to use a computer. Guy is old school. If you're interested I can call him and find out of he has some availible.
That's good but I've heard several people saying they get no response over the years ... but the site is updated for 2015 LBGS.
 19.
there's this too http://www.bassmute...._mainframe.html
The OP mentions that one but can't any replies to emails. I think because they are out of business.
 20.
There's a kit available from Allparts to add a mute to a Fender vintage bridge - needs the bridge cover, mind http://www.allparts....string-mute-kit
That sounds like a Fender Jazz vintage mutes. Unfortunately no pic. Vintage Precision mutes were glued under the bridge cover.
 21.
... not sure about the scale lenght (site says it's 33") I'm wondering where the hell I will be able to find strings for that...
My feeling is that's probably an error and it's much more likely 30"
 22.
... Guild basses are generally well made but have never been popular, not only short scale and very narrow at the nut end, ok if you have small hands, otherwise quite uncomfortable...
I don't have small hands, I like a 1.75" Precision neck, but I have always found the Guild Starfire neck very comfortable. It's clear there is a subjective element to anything we say about this matter.
 23. There is little comparison between these two basses and also neither compares with a Precision bass. The Guild pickups are single coils not humbuckers (as BA says). The two pickup Starfire will have a wider range of tones than the single pickup version. I've only once played a Danelectro and I'd say it feels like a bit of a toy in comparison. Neither is a replacement for a Precision bass.
