1.
How about this then http://canarywharf.com/residential/
Whoever named that place was never in Birmingham in the 1970s.
 2.
The hands of a pianist have very distinctive but separate roles.
Yes, as a bassist I have never been interfered with by the right hand of a piano player.
 3.
Oh, and it weighed a ton as well
That's the main thing.
 4. I've never heard 'Park Drive' and 'snob' in the same sentence before.
 5.
Marlboro? Pah! Boys stuff! - we used to use the silver paper from this:
In actual fact, in Birmingham, it was the silver paper from a packet of Park Drive but I couldn't find a pic with the silver paper.
 6.
I gigged and HH VS100 through and ex reggae sound system 18" bass bin made from what felt like paving slabs '79-81. Can you imagine the awesome tone?
Similarly I had HH VS100 plus VS100 Slave and two 15" Electrovoice PA bins. It was crap but, most importantly, it was heavy.
 7.
Amateur effort Dave, heavy duty tin foil would take far more current
I think you'll find that's only used in the slow-blo version.
 8.
I was under the impression in the early days Manzarek used some sort of combo organ, used his feet I believe
I believe he commonly played a Fender Rhodes Bass Piano with his left hand. You can see it at 2.23 in the clip above. But bassists were used in the studio.
 9.
I went off the Doors when I found out they didn't use a bass player
They used lots a bass players ... e.g. Harvey Brooks, Ray Neapolitan, Jerry Scheff, Doug Lubahn etc.
 10.
This what I always tell young people when they give a negative opinion on The Beatles; " You weren't there, so you don't have a valid or credible foundation for your opinion, saying you don't like them means nothing" Blue
Then it's no surprise that young people don't like you ... and they are probably put off taking any interest in The Beatles for the rest of their lives ... what a shame.
 11. This is what used to be known as a 13 amp fuse ...
 12.
... Try leading a rhythm with your "wrong" hand. It's tricky.
Ringo did it.
 13. The natural mahogany two pickup Starfire is now on Thomann website at €1299 (c£930) but not yet available. That's more expensive than I had imagined.
 14. My son has an Epiphone Casino which has been his main gigging guitar for about ten years. It has seen some wild gigs and much spillage of K cider and, in a related incident, a broken and repaired headstock. Son was staying with us for a few days before going off to play at Boomtown so, noticing the bedraggled state of the Casino, I offered to clean it and set it up. There was some resistance to this offer due to a fear of a loss of mojo. Anyway, a couple of hours later, some cleaning and polishing fluids and some lemon oil, several cloths, some graphite bridge saddles, re-attached pickguard, fixed straplocks, a new set of strings, and set the intonation ... and it seems that under the dirt was where we found the real mojo which could now show through in all its clean glory. Do you like dirty mojo or clean mojo?
 15.
... In fact Hendrix could play right handed but not as well.
Story has it that he could also play with strings 'upside down' so to speak.
 16. It's all a bit vague, but the last time I played with a Les Paul wielding guitarist was 1978. Gold top with humbuckers through a WEM 100watt PA Amp plus Sound City 4x12 if I recall correctly - with no pedals. I think I was using a sunburst Precision through Hiwatt 200 and 2x15. Drummer had a white 26" Rogers kit. It all sounded very good.
 17.
As opposed to snot as it left the factory
Ha ha!
 18. Loads of links here ... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/175039-anyone-like-a-bit-of-flamenco
 19.
I now have 27 more recordings I need to listen to .
That happens to me in the God, I love Jazz thread.
 20. Gentle Giant being funky, from the album Octopus ...
 21.
One of the reasons Genesis appeal to me more than (for example) Yes, are the soul influences brought to the mix by Gabriel and Collins (and occasionally Banks)...
I'd agree with that and add another example of Gentle Giant who had roots as an R&B/soul band.
