1.
Worst bass colour ever. I can hardly look at it... burp , ugh, a little bit of sick... cough. I did a google image on not sure anything can really compete, unless you can find a tan brown sparkle sunburst? anyone?
You could buy yourself a burgundy mist Jazz here on BC: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/259407-fsft-fender-jazz-bass-60s-reissue-burgundy-mist
 2.
Ok, but surely not this... http://www.promusicd...op/antiguajazz/
I really don't like those maple fretboards.
 3.
Stratoburst is pretty nasty to my eyes YMMV
The neck alignment looks pretty nasty too.
 4.
Thats a 1955/56/57 chevy not a Buick
That will explain why it has a Chevrolet badge on the bonnet and why one should not believe everything one reads on the internet. Actually I know nothing about cars, I just like the colours. Some people say I know nothing about bass too.
 5.
I'm not a fan of sea foam green
So not this 1965 Buick then ...
 6. My preferred blue would be sonic blue as on this 1956 Cadillac Coupe ...
 7.
... or one of those dresses from a little porcelain doll that grandmothers collect ...
My two grandmothers died, one in 1957 and one in 1972. I don't recall any porcelain dolls.
 8.
Depends on the blue. This is just bluegh IMO.
That's an Aria TSB550. I had one of those but natural not bluegh. Though I never did like the neck through stripe.
 9.
Ok, I guess horses for courses. I think Burgundy Mist is a really kitchy tone... it smacks of a rusty Ford Mondeo, or one of those dresses from a little porcelain doll that grandmothers collect. This is just my personal experience of course... I don't want to offend anyones taste. I'm sure you have very good reasons for liking it.
Not rusty and an Oldsmobile not a Ford but it is burgundy mist ...
 10. A bit late now but ... that's burgundy mist metallic and it's gorgeous.
 11.
They're about 6 years old and have been on my Wal all their life. Still ill wait and see
Ha ha, well, you never know,
 12. If people can say they like it they can also say they don't like it. Similarly, you can agree or disagree; you can like it or lump it.
 13.
Yup, don't need to own a Rolls Royce to know it's a better car than a Reliant Robin... No offence to Reliant owners!
The Robin is a better car for parking ... and for servicing costs, etc etc. ... and you don't need to own a Robin to know that.
 14. .. or could be just give them a little while. Both black nylons and flats tend to settle in and sound better (IMO) after a few weeks.
 15.
Try speaking to Pedro at Brighton Guitar Workshop. He did some electrical work on one of my basses a couple of years ago and I was very pleased with the result. His workshop is a bit of tip but he does good work. http://brightonguitarworkshop.co.uk
My son had his Epiphone Casino fixed there after he fell over while drunk returning to his home from a gig and cracked the headstock. Good work by all concerned.
 16. Jay Z couldn't really sing either but at least there was an element of humour given Noel Gallagher's earlier remarks.
 17.
Will using lighter strings on a short scale bass give more bottom end, due to the increased tension? Ta.
Lighter gauge strings (all other construction factors being unchanged) will likely have decreased tension at the same pitch.
 18.
Hi folks, I'm after a little help. My bass is making a rather nasty buzzing noise when I play the lower (E and A) strings from about the 7th to the 11th fret. Given how hot its been over the past few days I'm guessing that the neck may have moved a little and it will need to be adjusted to compensate. I've never done this before and I'm a little nervous about how to go about doing so. I've had a read around the internet but I would appreciate some solid guidelines to follow from someone here as I trust you folks a lot more than some random website / you-tuber who may or may not know what they are talking about. Best wishes James
I wouldn't necessarily be adjusting the truss rod for a change in the weather. This is England. You say it's a 'rather nasty buzzing'. Just how 'nasty' is that? Some people like a bit of fret rattle but I hate it. But I would raise the bridge saddles a smidge before I started playing with the truss rod for the weather. But for a reliable guide check out Carl Pedigo ex-Lakland luthier: https://www.youtube....ECE612F2206994F
 19. Tapewounds is good. I have used TI flats too. My Takamine B10 is wearing La Bella 760FS flats.
 20. Well spotted, thanks for that.
 21. As I never liked the sound of Entwistle, I prefer Palladino. To me The Who sound like a better band with Palladino. I've seen Townsend interviewed somewhere and saying he didn't like Entwistle's tone.
 22.
At Glastonbury that neck pick up had a white cover and resembled a Telecaster bass neck humbucker without the chrome cover.
I didn't notice that and there may be a clue below ... I got the pic from Bass Gallery Facebook page 31/03/15 https://www.facebook.com/thebassgalleryuk?ref=stream&hc_location=stream
A familiar face stopped by today to pick up a couple of his basses that have been in the workshop getting some mods...! Pictured here is our friend Pino Palladino with his signature Fender Custom Shop loaded with a couple of Gibson Thunderbird pickups that he's being using on a recent tour with D'Angelo & The Who. Martin, over the weekend, fitted it with an additional 70's Gibson EB neck pickup... What a beast of a bass!! (seriously, I want one myself) Also he brought in a Squier VM Telecaster Bass Special that has now been fitted with a Korg Kaoss Pad Mini 2S. Watch this space...
23.
The bass started out with the T-bird pickups, and the EB pickup looks like a new addition. I guess he can get different Entwistle eras with different pickup combinations. I don't see a decal on the headstock.
Apparently the EB pickup was added by the Bass Gallery; that's where the pic is from. The unclear decal has led some to suggest it might be a Bluesman. Here's a Bluesman Jazz bass:
