1.
Cheers! :-) I'm using Rotosound Monel Medium Scale (although a short scale bass, you need medium scale strings because of the floating bridge/tailpiece setup - short scale strings are too short!). They're not my favourite strings by a long shot but they actually work very well on the Chowny!
Not my favourite either but they sounded fine.
 2.
Saw this today with a very unusual Shell Pink front door and thought of this thread.
Are you certain that's not pink primer?
 3. I bought a Hora from Thomann. It arrived in a large box on a pallet and it was delivered it into my hallway. No problem.

 5.
You can get a flatwound sound from roundwounds, if you take all the tone off your bass. ...
Not really, in my experience - and anyway different flatwounds sound quite different to each other as well as different to rounds. Of course, with enough EQ and effects etc, you can make anything sound completely unlike a bass.
 6. Those do look like Dark Stars but the new Guild Bisonics are available at $99.99 each. http://www.bestbassgear.com/guild-bisonic.htm
 7.
Rotosound Monel Flatwounds as listed in the end credits!
Reminder to self: watch the credits. Thank you.
 8.
I filmed a video review/demonstration earlier today of my Emarald Burst Chowny CHB-1!
Scott, very nice demo, what flatwounds are you using?
 9.

... and thus Wayne is proven wrong ... although I do think it's a bit of a shame that he's not still here.
 10. Is a tone bock the same as a tone plate? The Gibson Les Paul Money bass had a walnut tone plate:

 13.
I wonder if Joiners have a "the best ten doors I ever hung" page ? ...
I used to be a painter and decorator and we did used to have discussions about such as 'best colour scheme' or 'neatest cutting in' or 'favourite brush' or 'worst spillage'. Kind of Top Trumps for tradesmen while we listened to the afternoon play on Radio 4.
... It's a Job when you are paid as a session player.
Correct and one ought to take a pride in one's job.

 15.
... Gotta love the twangy (baritone?) guitar that sounds like it was played through a transistor radio ...
Fender Bass VI or Danelectro equivalent.
 16.
Witchita Lineman?????? ewww!
It's an absolutely fantastic song and performance by all concerned - in my opinion (and Carol's)
 17. I don't think we've had this before: http://www.musicradar.com/news/guitars/carol-kaye-my-10-greatest-recordings-of-all-time-508956
 18.
That's great. It really shows the bass as a harmony instrument.
Harmony, melody and drive all at once.
 19.
We all spend so much time, money and energy in trying to achieve "great bass tone" and one of the all-time greats gets a sound like a £40 starter bass from Woolworths in desperate need of a set - up.
... and as you may be able to confirm Jack, at that time, a new Hofner was about £40 and did need a set-up.
 20. I 've begun to notice that the drop in output when the strangle circuit is engaged is highly affected by the tone control. With the tone at full there is little volume loss but when the tone is rolled off the loss in volume is substantial. Check out here, the fifth post down, for an apparent technical explanation - http://offsetguitars...start=1785#wrap
 21.
... I can't put flats on all three of my basses. Can I?
You can if you want to ... and they can even be different kinds of flats.
 22. I've never found this kind of change a problem. In fact 34" to short scale 30" on a Bass VI or up to 41" upright bass, it's just a different instrument. Same goes for 1.5" or 1.75" nut width. I think you'll cause more confusion by playing differently than by playing the same. However, you are right to think it's about a semitone diference because on a 34" scale bass the first fret is at 32.1"
 23.
I'll take a pics. It's a Moto's Battery 12V.
Ah ok. Thanks.
 24.
If you go to the PJB website and download the manual it gives specs to what the requirement is - I bought a battery for mine and it cost around £19.00 from memory. Here's a link: http://www.pjbworld....f/Briefcase.pdf
Yes. I am familiar with the amp as I have one myself. I was merely interested to know what battery you had fitted. Thanks again.
